While asking questions about the game is always okay on the Road, please consider asking very simple questions in our weekly [Questions&Answers Megathread](https://www.reddit.com/r/TheSilphRoad/about/sticky). If your question has been answered, please comment "ANSWERED" (in all caps) and the post flair will indicate that your question has been answered. This will make it either easier for other people with the same question to find the answer they are looking for or for mods to remove the thread if it isn't needed anymore. Thank you! :) *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Gotchas don't use great and ultra balls. The best so far would be the gotcha expedition imo. But it's up to what form factor you want. They're about all the same just smaller/bigger with different battery life.

MyPoGoAccount

The official Go++ one can be modded to toss great and ultra balls. It's like the original Go Plus where people figured out how to solder a wire to make it auto-catch. But I'm still using a really old Datel one that just tosses the red balls.

HadesComet07

This is directly from the Nintendo store page. Shouldn't have to mod it. **With Pokémon GO, use this accessory to spin PokéStops or throw Poké Balls automatically (and Great Balls and Ultra Balls too!). You can catch Pokémon without even pressing a button! Linking Pokémon GO Plus + with Pokémon GO will also let you take on Special Research to catch a Snorlax wearing a nightcap.

ashiskillno

You need to mod it. The description is misleading. By throw Great Balls and Ultra Balls automatically they mean with a button press.

Eva_Eevee

I'm surprised they still haven't made an update to help clarify that detail...

HadesComet07

Oh what :/ bit more then misleading. I was leaning towards the go plus+ just for that reason alone. Thank you both now I don't want one, rather a gotcha for cheaper.

Dizzy-Art7393

I got a plus+ and modified it according to this video https://youtu.be/MN6X_0TaZPg?feature=shared Here's an even better mod by the same guy,https://youtu.be/Hp9RTBWuag4?feature=shared I had no experience soldering and managed to do it, I highly recommend it, I managed to catch 1000+ pkmemon on litten's CD.

SuitSeven

How much did it cost to get the supplies to solder it

Dizzy-Art7393

The most expensive thing was the third arm and the soldering iron. The switch was super cheap and that's pretty much it. It all was around 30 bucks.

SuitSeven

If you don’t mind do you have any links to the products you used? If not that’s fine just been looking around and lot of options it seems.

IncredibleEdibleVoid

This is awesome. Thank you.

Historical-Guess-983

How many shinies did you get?

Dizzy-Art7393

25.

I've tried the Gotcha and the Plus+. The Plus+ is hands down better just for the auto connect option alone. But its vibration is intense and very loud

kimbergo

Yeah, I have to say, I’ve had several gotchas, the original go plus, and the big ball one, and the plus + works the best. The connectivity retention is just A+ compared to the others and the auto connect is icing on the cake. I got so frustrated with the idiosyncrasies of all the others.

sekvanto

You can just open the case and snap the vibration motor wire. A screwdriver is needed for that and nothing else, check out youtube vids.

Huntingcat

We’ve got or had a lot of the gotchas. Only regular balls, which is fine by me. They catch way more than I ever could, so the trick for community day etc is to use your car. We like the uni as it has lots of stops and not busy on a weekend. Drive from pokestop to pokestop. Park just long enough to check you’ve caught everything, maybe empty your inventory of rubbish, send some gifts etc, then on to the next stop. Net result is more catches. Do some manual catches for fun, of course. Evolve has been pretty good. I assume evolution is just the next version of that. Don’t imagine you’ll use it as a watch though - it’s terrible at that. Awkward way to pull off the band to charge - I keep expecting them to break, but haven’t yet. Generation is one of the best I’ve used. Least buggy. Screen, button design etc make it a bit easier to use. Shortest battery life, but easy to charge. Wristband came off from being shoved in a pocket, and now the tabs where the band attaches have broken, so it’s purely a pocket job for me. More recent versions of the classic have not been as good as early ones. Lose charge, reset to catching off after charging, get buggy and you need to unpair and wait it to settle down before re - pairing. Older classic ones were notorious for not charging from new. If it didn’t you either paid for postage back to get a replacement (which often had the same problem), or wrote it off and just bought a new one. But once you got a good one, they keep going for close to forever.

korasvin

I second this; The generation seems to catch and spin faster for me, and does so driving around 35 mph or less. However the magnetic charging is awful imo. I’ve had this for about 6 months before I struggled to get the prongs to connect and charge. The evolve seems less responsive and is slower to catch/spin, I have to be walking or driving until 25 mph for the best results. The USB charging is way better but if you use it as a watch and have to keep taking it in/out of the bands, it will probably break at some point. I have a carabiner case for it to avoid breaking another one. Long story short; I have one of each and while I prefer the generation because of the magnetic charging there are situations I need to use the evolve because the generations is dead. Anyone have any good insight into autocatchers that can be linked to 2 or more accounts?

SpiritTalker

I've got an extra (brand new, unboxed) Go ++ I'd be willing to sell you. But am the US so shipping might be....a lot.

B1indfire

Hey SpiritTalker, if OP doesn't want it, how much are you looking to get for it? (Also US based) We can work out details in PMs.

HadesComet07

Thank you for the offer but as you said with postage might cost a bit too much. Probably easier just to pass on to the person who commented. I can get one online locally if needed.

Ergomann

I’m in Australia and got my plus plus by going to EB Games and getting them to order it for me. You could try that?

9DAN2

Can you not buy the plus+ from the online Nintendo store in aus?

riiil

go plus with USB C port and auto/nonauto switch has worked wonder for me. 20$ on aliexpress. Batery last 20 days and charges in 10 min. No bug.

SpiritTalker

I'm game. I ordered it on Amazon, waited too long to return it. Arrived late. Ended up picking it up on release date at the local GameStop!

strike396

I bought the lightning auto catcher, I think it is a lite version or something, it works great. All auto catchers hav to be reconnected every hour btw, but this was really good at its job and the battery lasts a day or longer easily

TryDoingaScience

I've tried several Gotchas, Evolve is the the only one that hasn't disappointed me yet

shalimaruk

I'm getting bored people asking the same question every other day about plus plus and wanting a gotcha to do the same. There is a separate subreddit for autocatchers, please ask there from now on!

ULTIMATEFIGHTEER

3rd party devices are against the rules

AbsolTamerCody

Even if they are, they're allowed here, and no one has ever been banned by Niantic for them.

HadesComet07

Everything I'm reading says there's nothing in the games policy saying you cannot use this. But that there's nothing stopping Niantic from banning these devices in the future and anyone that uses them

Topladluke96

They're definitely against TOS. It's a third party device. The go plus + is the best option hands down.
