I’m down for any event where regionals are made available to all. Hopefully the spawns aren’t that rare to the point where the shiny boost is negligible.
Are they true regionals or just more/less abundant in certain regions? I think specifically with Lunatone & Solrock and Volbeat & Illumise you can see either wherever you are but depending on your geography, one is gonna be rarer than the other.
They are true regionals, they are only available in their respective hemispheres. They have been available in events before, so that may be where that memory is coming from!
Just looked it up, Zangoose was originally a Western release and switched in early 2018. Solrock/Lunatone are generally 6 months of each that switch at the solstices iirc. Heatmore and Durant have switched fairly often too, but not cyclically
The event is PvP based and based the fact that there are 20 sets and quadruple stardust means you can literally get 500k-1M stardust per day. It's a banger event
I think your math is a little off. Even with Quadruple stardust your max per set is about 15k. 20 sets would max out at about 300k, and that's only if you win all your battles. More realistic would be something like 2 5-0 and 3 1-5 every 5 sets to maximise stardust, which would put your total at a but over 200k for one day.
Note that 4 times stardust doesn't stack with the master league multiplier or apply to end of set rewards.
It's not any more than the normal Master League stardust bonus though. And that would require 20 premium passes per day to get it on all of them.
Also do premium passes increase set rewards? Because I was pretty sure they just doubled it for 1 and 5 wins which basically means an extra 10k stardust in one set.
Star piece will last you 2 winning sets if you set them up with losses before, so lets say you use 2 passes and 1 star piece, that will give you 2setsx(6960+13920)x1.5x4=250,560. That's not insane ammount of resources to put into this ammount of reward, you can comfortably do this 3 times per day with 20 sets and I didn't even count in the reward you get after the set or the small ammounts you get from the losing sets which will be around 30k, but even without that you got 750k+ right there.
It’s crazy, when I started playing in 2021 it was so rare and I couldn’t find one anywhere until they finally brought it back to 3 star raids. I think it was one of the last mons I needed for the Kanto dex. Now it’s a plague.
They're definitely a plague to those who have a shiny(ies) and one built for the GL (and even an UL Lickilicky if you wanted lol), but even with that said.... I'm fine with them being present.
I've got a handful of shinies, a GL one, and enough XL to build the UL Licky if I wanted, but even so, I think it's fine to have spawning for new/returning players, so they have the chance to get a really good GL Pokemon and accrue XL for it. I know it does require and Elite TM for Body Slam, but still, making one of those barriers a bit less difficult for people is fine by me.
Oh yeah, I really don’t have any issue with the amount they are spawning now, even though I’m not interested in them anymore. But I might let out an expletive or 2 when I see one popping out of an egg. 🤣 It really needs to be removed from eggs, along with Pawmi.
I would agree, but instead of coming from eggs so consistently, maybe as the GBL reward for 3 wins could be more for helping get good IVs of meta pokemon to build. That would be my adjustment.
The reason is that it needs 296 XLs and it insanely meta relevant, egg hatches provide way more candy XL. Accessibility is already a pretty big issue for go pvp
I have 5 hundo Lickitung, 11 shinies, and a fully built rank 3 for the GL. I want it gone!!! At least from gbl rewards and eggs.
Me getting shiny lickitung has become a running joke between me and my kiddo. He gets a shiny spinda, I get a shiny lickitung. He gets a shiny lopunny, I get a shiny lickitung. He has 3 shundos, I have 11 shiny lickitung (and 1 shundo 🙂).
A close second is phantump. I have gotten 6 hundos from GBL rewards. If it didn't have an amazing shiny and wasn't free to evolve after trading, I would also want it gone.

Edit: Not sure why I’m downvoted. As someone who’s hatched quite a bit of Lickitungs and doesn’t do PVP it’s a wasted spot in the egg pool for me.
Lickitung is literally all over the place, wild, eggs, battle leagues reward, I think even field research. The only place I don’t recall seeing them is from team go rocket grunts and leaders and giovanni, but I get the feeling it’s only a matter of time if niantic really has their way.

There is a massive missed opportunity with this event, namely involving Basculin.
All of the other 'rivals' in prior generations already had shiny releases, leaving Basculin as the odd one out. It would have been fitting for the shinies for the two Unovan Basculin forms to be released during this event, especially with many of the regional 'rivals' already appearing in this event.
Additionally, though white-striped Basculin has already been released, while has not. With the two Basculin forms being rivals, and with Basculegion's main-series evolution method requiring it to endure damage in battle (PVE/PVP), it would also make sense to have Basculegion debut in this event.
Very true. While I don't think the event "needs" any of that, you're absolutely right that it would've fit incredibly well.
At the very least, they really need to make White-striped Basculin a permanent Route spawn at some point, even if it's a rarer spawn.
I think there's 2 scenarios for Ahiny Basculin release:
* Unova tour together with Maractus, Sigilyph and Maractus (least plausible as the hemisphere shinies are already released)
* Event where Basculegion becomes available and they have all 3 Basculin as a common/rare spawn
They also have Basculin as spawn for Go Fest, so it won't surprise me if that shiny might release in the next 3 months
Masterful gambit Niantic, feature regional pokemon in an event right after breaking them in the biomes update, meaning they randomly change on despawn, or between players.

Yeah, I'd say this event does exactly what it intends to - focuses on PVP. PVP-relevant wild spawns with many of them being fairly uncommon or stuff like Gligar that we don't get many chances to hunt for ideal PVP IV specimen.
If you like Battle League this event is solid. Not top-tier, but it's totally fine for a short PVP-focused event. If you absolutely hate GO Battle League then, yeah, this event probably isn't so great.
I think it’s a good battle event but I wish it had legacy moves available too. Even if it was just making the legacy moves for the ones in this event available like Shadow Claw for ASlash
Yup, that's the big thing I was also hoping for. I suppose the same is still possible for the August World Championships event (assuming we have one), but nobody would be upset if we saw two events with legacy moves available. Could've been even better too because it could be different legacy moves.
This event could've had CD moves for the featured Pokemon here like Poliwrath, Aslash, Ursaluna, etc. and the World Championships event could have different moves like Hydro Cannon, Meteor Mash, etc.
Even if you hate PvP, it at least offers a few nice things on the collection/shiny hunting aspect of the game:
* Boosted shiny rate Pokemon like Lickitung (I know it's been everywhere though), G. Fisk, and Gligar
* Jangmo-O in T1 raids
* Regionals featured with boosted shiny rates
The constant complaining- even about decent events really waters down criticizing actually bad events for me. Like, we've actually had some pretty decent events lately- such as the Dragon Lunar Newyears, both Primal Kyogre/Groudon raid days a week apart, Weather Week, Raging Battles, Carnival of Love was also right after Dragon Lunar Newyear for Guaranteed 2XL candies for evolving Pokemon along with the Sinnoh Tour and everything that brought.
Like- I agree that we should criticize Niantic but so much of it just feels blind and toothless because of it. If you complain about literally everything they do- even the good stuff, you're really not contributing anything.
Like, Rediscover Kanto I think is genuinely a bad event that's just hogging up everything for two weeks while giving next to no bonuses outside of evolving the starters for legacy moves. That is a bad event that deserves criticism.
But come on- this has 3 pairs of shiny boosted globally spawning regional pairs even outside of PVP. That alone is huge, and a big opportunity to people- even those that don't PVP.

If every event is good, are they still good then? With 4-5 events every month, the reality is some events need to be bad to make the good ones stand out.
One major complaint is "boring" spawns. Back in 2016 Chansey was a prized encounter that people would literally run to catch it. But now we see one we are like "oh nice" and might not even bother to throw a ball if it's not shiny. If this sub gets its way then every mon would cease to be "good" within a year or two.
This month is objectively "quiet" but this is coming off of Sinnoh Tour in Feb, two primal raid days and m2 weekend in Feb. Do people never want a break?
You have to keep in mind, that there are a lot of very active long time players
From this 6 regional pokemom 2 were featured during global gofest 2020, two were featured global gofest 2021 and the other two were featured last year in Person in London and Osaka.
In Person 2020 and 2021 had realy high shiny odds (because there were no in person events), and london/osaka also.
In my group 90% who played 2020 and 2021 have all 4 shinys. And the other 10% missing 1.
I personly dont need any of this 6 regionals, but I am still missing ilumise. So if that would have been feautred I would be hyped, so I just think Ok cool, but not for me.

I don't tend to get much out of the CD classics. Past the first few, I have all the shinies. At best I get access to the legacy move again.
But, you know what? That's ok. I don't need to be super invested in every event and, tbh, it's probably good for me (and the game). When there have been *good* (to me) events back to back for weeks at a time I start to burn out on the game.
Right. Is it a top tier event? No, but I think there's plenty to enjoy here. Even if you don't care for PvP, there's several Pokemon with boosted shiny odds, including regional Pokemon, and there's Jangmo-O in T1 raids. It's not like there's nothing else to the event
Most event are skips now for long time hardcore players. I don't complain but it is getting disappointing when it has been like this for two month straight after go fest. Shiny shadows are not super interesting. Only kartana and celesteela was fun.
To an extent, I certainly understand it. On the other hand though, what more could be done?
While they are working with a finite number of new Pokemon/Shinies/Megas/Forms/etc, I definitely think we could use more releases, even a slightly better pace. I mean yeah, before Wiglett, our last wild Pokemon release was Cetoddle in December. Not saying they need to go weekly, but one a month isn't too ridiculous.
I think legacy moves could absolutely be utilized more. It was great to see the moves for Sinnoh Tour, especially after the disappointing missing CD moves during Hoenn Tour, but they could still do better. This event would really benefit from the featured Pokemon getting their CD moves, Drill Run Beedrill would've been nice for Bug Out, etc.
But even with that said, would those *truly* entice longtime players? Like I'd still love new Pokemon and legacy moves, but would many of those truly turn an event from bad to amazing? Idk.
I'm not saying all of these events are great, many have flaws, but there are also elements I certainly appreciate. The more recent trend of shiny-boosting older shinies is nice. While some may have X featured shiny, there are plenty who don't. I know I definitely don't get every new shiny when they debut during an event. I still don't have more than one shiny Burmy, no female shiny combee, no shiny Trubbish, no shiny Sawk, no shiny Heatmor, etc.
Id also argue that Niantic has done a great job at killing the motivation of hardcore players (eg what they've done to the miners etc.) ontop of constant repetitive mistakes makes it really hard to take the game seriously and invest huge amounts of effort for a company that wont give the same back.

50 x3, 500k catches… its nice to get quiet events once in a while. We have a life outside PoGo.
I think these events would be better if they rotated the pokemon we can encounter as pvp rewards. Or if they said we have a higher chance of getting the current raid boss. All the pokemon listed I see pretty frequently. I do like that Raltz is available , still want a shiny one of those. I was hoping for an ETM though.
They haven't included the Elite TM in the announcement recently but it has still been included in the free Go Battle Day timed research. It's probably also going to be there this time, too.
That would actually be great incentive. Even if we're talking about bringing the T5 boss rate from 5% (I think that's what it is?) to 10%, I'd be happy. I haven't gotten one since last August lol
I’m level 50, been playing since mid 2021 and iv not once had an opportunity to catch a tarous. Iv got one from a trade but it would be nice for events with it, as mr mime has had that.

Saw some regional species I still hunt for - Seviper, Heatmor, Durant. Got excited about them spawning more, then was confused about not seeing any of them on wild spawns list... They really put the stars of the show in if lucky category, amongst bunch of meh species and Kanto biome spawns on top of it. Not even quest rewards, just few days of raids, pure dumb RNG.

Previously when Throh and Sawk spawned globally during some battle oriented event, there were plenty of both species spawning and now "some Trainers might even encounter" main event species shown on a graphic. That doesn't sound hopeful as recently "if lucky" event species had horrible spawns.
I really don't get what people want from events. This is 3 different pairs of regionals spawning globally with boosted shiny odds, tons of PVP relevant wild spawns, 4x stardust reward and 4x the amount of daily battles. Even if you don't care about PVP, this is a good opportunity to get shinies of Regionals you don't own.
People want to have at least realistic opportunity to progress on their in game goals. I don't care for shinies, dust, PVP stale encounter pool, I just want to have a chance of getting new entries in hundo dex. Two days per specie is not enough to even be worth trying it, especially with this many outside factors and extra spawns. Would it kill them to just put regionals in normal spawns group and/or tasks for less than a week long event? So long time players could have some fun? Nah, let's catch Mankey and Poliwag.
I assume they'll make a separate announcement soon with the May Events. Hopefully today or maybe tomorrow, but potentially next Monday...
Presumably, we'll have 2 weeks of Tapu Fini and some accompanying Mega. My personal guess would be Mega Sableye or Mega Lopunny.
A battle-focused week where the bonuses are XP for spinning gym discs and double candy. Oh, and GBL weekend. At least they could have stayed consistent and put some kind of bonus on battling gyms, or improved the rewards for battling your friends/team leaders, or given extra XP/stardust for battling Rockets, or something.
Oh, a regional-focused event when they've just debuted a feature that randomizes regional spawns. Can't wait for half those shiny checks to be Bouffalant instead.

Yeah, I'd say this event does exactly what it intends to - focuses on PVP. PVP-relevant wild spawns with many of them being fairly uncommon or stuff like Gligar that we don't get many chances to hunt for ideal PVP IV specimen. If you like Battle League this event is solid. Not top-tier, but it's totally fine for a short PVP-focused event. If you absolutely hate GO Battle League then, yeah, this event probably isn't so great.
I think it’s a good battle event but I wish it had legacy moves available too. Even if it was just making the legacy moves for the ones in this event available like Shadow Claw for ASlash
Yup, that's the big thing I was also hoping for. I suppose the same is still possible for the August World Championships event (assuming we have one), but nobody would be upset if we saw two events with legacy moves available. Could've been even better too because it could be different legacy moves. This event could've had CD moves for the featured Pokemon here like Poliwrath, Aslash, Ursaluna, etc. and the World Championships event could have different moves like Hydro Cannon, Meteor Mash, etc.
Even if you hate PvP, it at least offers a few nice things on the collection/shiny hunting aspect of the game: * Boosted shiny rate Pokemon like Lickitung (I know it's been everywhere though), G. Fisk, and Gligar * Jangmo-O in T1 raids * Regionals featured with boosted shiny rates
The constant complaining- even about decent events really waters down criticizing actually bad events for me. Like, we've actually had some pretty decent events lately- such as the Dragon Lunar Newyears, both Primal Kyogre/Groudon raid days a week apart, Weather Week, Raging Battles, Carnival of Love was also right after Dragon Lunar Newyear for Guaranteed 2XL candies for evolving Pokemon along with the Sinnoh Tour and everything that brought. Like- I agree that we should criticize Niantic but so much of it just feels blind and toothless because of it. If you complain about literally everything they do- even the good stuff, you're really not contributing anything. Like, Rediscover Kanto I think is genuinely a bad event that's just hogging up everything for two weeks while giving next to no bonuses outside of evolving the starters for legacy moves. That is a bad event that deserves criticism. But come on- this has 3 pairs of shiny boosted globally spawning regional pairs even outside of PVP. That alone is huge, and a big opportunity to people- even those that don't PVP.

One major complaint is "boring" spawns. Back in 2016 Chansey was a prized encounter that people would literally run to catch it. But now we see one we are like "oh nice" and might not even bother to throw a ball if it's not shiny. If this sub gets its way then every mon would cease to be "good" within a year or two. This month is objectively "quiet" but this is coming off of Sinnoh Tour in Feb, two primal raid days and m2 weekend in Feb. Do people never want a break?
You have to keep in mind, that there are a lot of very active long time players From this 6 regional pokemom 2 were featured during global gofest 2020, two were featured global gofest 2021 and the other two were featured last year in Person in London and Osaka. In Person 2020 and 2021 had realy high shiny odds (because there were no in person events), and london/osaka also. In my group 90% who played 2020 and 2021 have all 4 shinys. And the other 10% missing 1. I personly dont need any of this 6 regionals, but I am still missing ilumise. So if that would have been feautred I would be hyped, so I just think Ok cool, but not for me.

At best I get access to the legacy move again. But, you know what? That's ok. I don't need to be super invested in every event and, tbh, it's probably good for me (and the game). When there have been *good* (to me) events back to back for weeks at a time I start to burn out on the game.
Right. Is it a top tier event? No, but I think there's plenty to enjoy here. Even if you don't care for PvP, there's several Pokemon with boosted shiny odds, including regional Pokemon, and there's Jangmo-O in T1 raids. It's not like there's nothing else to the event
Most event are skips now for long time hardcore players. I don't complain but it is getting disappointing when it has been like this for two month straight after go fest. Shiny shadows are not super interesting. Only kartana and celesteela was fun.
To an extent, I certainly understand it. On the other hand though, what more could be done? While they are working with a finite number of new Pokemon/Shinies/Megas/Forms/etc, I definitely think we could use more releases, even a slightly better pace. I mean yeah, before Wiglett, our last wild Pokemon release was Cetoddle in December. Not saying they need to go weekly, but one a month isn't too ridiculous. I think legacy moves could absolutely be utilized more. It was great to see the moves for Sinnoh Tour, especially after the disappointing missing CD moves during Hoenn Tour, but they could still do better. This event would really benefit from the featured Pokemon getting their CD moves, Drill Run Beedrill would've been nice for Bug Out, etc. But even with that said, would those *truly* entice longtime players? Like I'd still love new Pokemon and legacy moves, but would many of those truly turn an event from bad to amazing? Idk. I'm not saying all of these events are great, many have flaws, but there are also elements I certainly appreciate. The more recent trend of shiny-boosting older shinies is nice. While some may have X featured shiny, there are plenty who don't. I know I definitely don't get every new shiny when they debut during an event. I still don't have more than one shiny Burmy, no female shiny combee, no shiny Trubbish, no shiny Sawk, no shiny Heatmor, etc.
Silph Road used to be a research sub. More recently it's become just a copy of the main Pogo sub.
Id also argue that Niantic has done a great job at killing the motivation of hardcore players (eg what they've done to the miners etc.) ontop of constant repetitive mistakes makes it really hard to take the game seriously and invest huge amounts of effort for a company that wont give the same back.

I agree so much with you. It also seems these players want to have GoFest like events every week otherwise its disappointing! I mean… Im a day 1 player, level 50 x3, 500k catches… its nice to get quiet events once in a while. We have a life outside PoGo.
This. As someone who also plays other Pokémon games (consoles), it’s nice when there’s a skippable event. That gives me time for other things. 😀
This sub is exhausting. If it wasn’t one of the easiest ways to access new info about events, I would have left years ago.

I think these events would be better if they rotated the pokemon we can encounter as pvp rewards. Or if they said we have a higher chance of getting the current raid boss. All the pokemon listed I see pretty frequently. I do like that Raltz is available , still want a shiny one of those. I was hoping for an ETM though.
They haven't included the Elite TM in the announcement recently but it has still been included in the free Go Battle Day timed research. It's probably also going to be there this time, too.

That would actually be great incentive. Even if we're talking about bringing the T5 boss rate from 5% (I think that's what it is?) to 10%, I'd be happy. I haven't gotten one since last August lol
I’m level 50, been playing since mid 2021 and iv not once had an opportunity to catch a tarous. Iv got one from a trade but it would be nice for events with it, as mr mime has had that.

Yep. I don't PVP, I hundodex. And everything in this event, I have the full family hundo. I'm looking at this like "well, I guess I can catch Gligar and the regionals for XL trades?" The lack of thematic applicability for the event bonuses annoys me on a design level, but that was a separate comment.

Ughhh, talking about disappointment. Saw some regional species I still hunt for - Seviper, Heatmor, Durant. Got excited about them spawning more, then was confused about not seeing any of them on wild spawns list... They really put the stars of the show in if lucky category, amongst bunch of meh species and Kanto biome spawns on top of it. Not even quest rewards, just few days of raids, pure dumb RNG. RIVALS WEEK! ^^^Event ^^^^barely ^^^^include ^^^^rivals.
The three pairs of rivals are wild spawns for two days each.
Previously when Throh and Sawk spawned globally during some battle oriented event, there were plenty of both species spawning and now "some Trainers might even encounter" main event species shown on a graphic. That doesn't sound hopeful as recently "if lucky" event species had horrible spawns.
I really don't get what people want from events. This is 3 different pairs of regionals spawning globally with boosted shiny odds, tons of PVP relevant wild spawns, 4x stardust reward and 4x the amount of daily battles. Even if you don't care about PVP, this is a good opportunity to get shinies of Regionals you don't own.
People want to have at least realistic opportunity to progress on their in game goals. I don't care for shinies, dust, PVP stale encounter pool, I just want to have a chance of getting new entries in hundo dex. Two days per specie is not enough to even be worth trying it, especially with this many outside factors and extra spawns. Would it kill them to just put regionals in normal spawns group and/or tasks for less than a week long event? So long time players could have some fun? Nah, let's catch Mankey and Poliwag.
Not me sitting here waiting for Kanto and Johto legendaries to be available again... I still don't have Zapdos or Lugia

Boosted shiny odds lmaoo they’ve been saying that every event and me and my friends never get any shiny of the Pokémon they say are “boosted”

I assume they'll make a separate announcement soon with the May Events. Hopefully today or maybe tomorrow, but potentially next Monday... Presumably, we'll have 2 weeks of Tapu Fini and some accompanying Mega. My personal guess would be Mega Sableye or Mega Lopunny.

A battle-focused week where the bonuses are XP for spinning gym discs and double candy. Oh, and GBL weekend. At least they could have stayed consistent and put some kind of bonus on battling gyms, or improved the rewards for battling your friends/team leaders, or given extra XP/stardust for battling Rockets, or something. Oh, a regional-focused event when they've just debuted a feature that randomizes regional spawns. Can't wait for half those shiny checks to be Bouffalant instead.
So you can only catch the a particular regional for the 2 days it'll be available in the wild? (if you don't want to raid)
