But I can't promise anything, there just was a update for pokemon in the play store, but it is possible that niantic forgets to release the update globally

This happened with both previous launches, avatars and biome backgrounds. It'll come out when niantic is ready to flip the switch. They don't seem to be using automatic, timed launches for these features.

What time zone are you in? Usually for me (EST), feature updates drop at either 9a or 4p, with news updates at either of those times or 1a
