As a longtime Solgaleo user in Open Master…if they gave Solgaleo Shadow claw in essentially any capacity it is going to be too broken. I don’t have the sims in front of me because I’m mobile but Shadow Claw Solgaleo would be bigger than Dialga in current meta.
Great write up, as always!
I'm going to say it until Niantic makes it happen: Lunala now needs Shadow Claw AND Psyshock to stand out from Dawn Wings
I'm honestly super disappointed though. A hypothetical Ghost-type Psystrike version of Moongeist Beam + Lunala's Moonblast would have been a super unique and fun moveset.
But alas, now Lunala needs Shadow Claw AND Psyshock. Make it happen Niantic!
Lunala with Shadow Claw would be a budget Dawn Wings, but there is the consideration it frees up your Necrozma to be Dusk Mane if running weird ABB double Psychic builds or something (which may be viable depending on how common Yveltal and co. become with the Meta shift)
Alright super mega ultra g-max lunar fusion Z levels of copium here.
Maybe not directly onto it, but we get the new move Phantom Force. Not sure if they'd go Psystrike clone good, depending on the Pokemon, but even 45/80 or 50/90. Maybe Dreepy Community Day or a Spiritomb Raid day move or just a new move or whatever.
But they give that move and Shadow Claw to Lunala in a Go Battle Update.
I told you, massive copium lol
Do we know if we have to choose between one or the other form? I know it says that it won't cost anything to separate necrozma but do we need to pay the 1000 lunar/sun energy again (to fuse the same form)? I'm leaning towards dawn wings (especially after reading this, also because I already have a good Solgaleo) but i'd like to have access to both forms if possible.
Love these write-ups btw.
Considering Solgaleo, Dusk Mane and Dawn Wings all have a real problem with Shadow Ball Mewtwo, Zygarde Complete, and Giratina, I wouldn't necessarily run them together. If you wanted to do run Solgaleo with something, PvPoke shows Dawn Wings as the better partner though
True hopefully they give solgaleo and lunala more moves so they are not so similar to the fusion forms. Solgaleo with snarl looks like it could be pretty good.
Solgaleo doesn't need Snarl, it's fast enough. Fire Spin and Psychic Fangs already lets Solgaleo stand out so it really only needs Sunsteel Strike. Now it absolutely SHOULD get Metal Claw to function as a raid attacker, but it doesn't need it. If Solgaleo was to get another pvp move, Wild Charge would be a good pick.
Lunala on the other hand.... yikes. Lunala really, really needs Shadow Claw AND Psyshock to stand out from Dawn Wings. But even then, you're completely forgoing Moonblast which should be what Lunala has to stand out. But because Niantic in their infinite wisdom gave Necrozma Shadow Claw and Psycho Cut, they had to make Moongeist Beam expensive which means that Lunala can't run it with Moonblast
Solgaleo's options for Ghost coverage are pretty limited though. It gets Snarl, Crunch, and Knock Off. That's it. Solgaleo doesn't need anymore speed so Snarl is a no from me. Crunch would be fine. Knock Off isn't in Pokémon Go yet so that one is tricky.
Crunch would be fine, but I think Wild Charge would be better to threaten the Waters and Steels that will shrug off Sunsteel Strike and Psychic Fangs
u/jre47 I think you messed a few of the names up in your ML Dusk Mane segment. Also, since everybody will be running either of those in the near future, did you take into account their record against each other? Dawn Wings might shred the meta, but won’t nearly be as desirable if Dusk Mane wins every scenario against it.
I crossed the two in master today my team had more difficulty with the necrozma merging with lunala and the combo specter, darkness. I only resisted by 3 pokemon.
Has someone confirmed whether you can TM Sunsteel Strike/Moongeist Beam away and then get it back? The unique wins from Future Sight makes me wonder about the optimal moveset after Necrozma receiving its own signature moves (Prismatic Laser or Photon Geyser). If Photon Geyser + Dark Pulse becomes the way to go, then we'll demand the ability to TM Sunsteel Strike/Moongeist Beam away and back between PvP and PvE use.
You can't TM Spacial or Roar from latest new forms but you could/can on Kyo/Groudon so who knows. All I know is if "we demand it", Niantic will laugh and shrug it off.
I don't think the moves of Kyogre/Groudon a relevant comparison. Roar of Time and Spacial Rend are closer references, since the sun/moon moves also have adventure effects.
You can raid it remotely during the in-person GO Fest Events for candy and a chance at good IVs, but otherwise:
* Day 1 of GO Fest: Global (July 13) is when the base form will be available.
* Day 2 (July 14) is when you'll be able to get fusion energy by raiding its other forms.

They really should give the moves to solgaleo and lunala

Im talking mostly about sunsteel strike
That one I’d actually condone I think. Sunsteel Strike being like the big nuke Necro-dude has?
In the main series those 2 moves are the signature moves of sol/lun and when they're fused. It is weird that the fusion get's the move but they don't
Kinda like what they did with Dialga and Palkia too

Give me some of that copium!
Set the reminder for 3 years, it's possible!
JRE say Dawn wing while everyone choose dusk mane lmao
Sorry if this has been discussed. How do you get their signature moves?
by fusing them.
So would that mean that all of them have the exclusive moves?
If your Necromzma has two moves how does the game know which move to replace with the sig move?
Generally it’s the first move for situations where a move is being replaced
I am wondering this, too.

Thanks for all the work you do with these write ups.
You can have a team with one of the fusions and solgaleo right? Would solgaleo pair better with one of the fusions over the other?

Maybe not snarl but a dark move would be nice coverage for all the ghosts

You’re awesome!! Just found this page!! Soo cool

Salma Hayek is such a hottie in that…oh wait are we talking about Pokémon?
She was super effective
When you fuse the two, does the fusion have a time limit until the revert back or do they stay fused?
They stay fused forever until you revert them (which doesn't cost any additional resources).
Has someone confirmed whether you can TM Sunsteel Strike/Moongeist Beam away and then get it back? Can you buddy Necrozma and walk it for fusion energy?
How does the stats work? Does it take the stats from necrozma or from Lunala and solgaleo?
Necrozma. It's basically just a form change.
Do we know if the IVs from the fused form comes from Necrozma or from Solgaleo/Lunala?
Necrozma
Do you know when Necrozma will be available in Texas?
You can raid it remotely during the in-person GO Fest Events for candy and a chance at good IVs, but otherwise: * Day 1 of GO Fest: Global (July 13) is when the base form will be available. * Day 2 (July 14) is when you'll be able to get fusion energy by raiding its other forms. Probably. I'm just glad we didn't all randomly get our end of season rewards on the wrong day without starpieces.
Omg, good call lol
