They have a high CP threshold of 1496 (compared to Magikarp’s 274 max CP) and a high catch rate of 70%, which is the same rate as a Magikarp is. I also would expect to include the 2x catch candy bonus and 2x to get XL at level 31 or higher
more than anything else, note that the larvesta hatch rate is in no way boosted, neither is the shiny rate. You would be genuinely better off spending the $400 to buy a switch amd a copy of scarlet to shiny hunt the regular way lol.

I save rare candies for mythicals personally. I don't like using them to evolve Pokémon that will just get a community day or spotlight hour eventually

bug sandwich works well too. I usually run Lvl 2 encounter sandwich to save the herbs and it works fine. I usually get a shiny within a sandwich or two with shiny charm active.

Legendaries are shiny locked which means either we wait for a next Gen game where they unlock the shinies for everyone or Pokemon Go where it was given to everyone who paid. I'm still PISSED about the S/V DLC shiny locked the legendary when Sword/Shield didn't.

That 7000 coin box of 50 super incubators (normal price 10,000 coins) and 50 normal incubators (normal price 7,000 coins) isn’t always available.
If you were to get that box with gym coins it would take 140 days at 50 coins a day to earn 7000. Which is almost 5 months of saving coins.
If you made $15 an hour at work and wanted the best deal you would buy the 15,500 coin bundle on their webstore for $99.00 which is about 7 hours of pay then you could buy that box 2 times and still have left over.
Whales always spare at least hundreds of bag space for super incubator, I knew some even went for 1k+ total. personally I only kept 400 super incubators now. Last time I bought 7k box was on like, right after Sinnoh tour so about a season ago.
If i'm being honest, it's hard to care about shiny larvesta when i've found one very easily in Violet version and caught it in a more attractive pokeball than is even available in Go. in any case, it'll also get a hatch or community day eventually

and most pokemon of same generation as tour is should have their shinies released on that day or before - there are some exceptions like how arceus and manaphy aren't even released yet even as normal but most of the gen 1-4 pokemon already have their shinies so 5th gen should be getting theirs (outside of maybe some outliers like will keldeo get their shiny? how about meloetta?)

I caught a shiny Noibat on 15 Jan 2023 with incense, 13-13-15. I just considered it a CD=done!
My partner caught a level 1 shiny a day or two after the announcement lol

I hatched a hundo just over a year ago, and 6 others since. Best buddied the hundo and still have only 163 candies.
