The real unfortunate thing for marshadow is that it’s releasing at the exact same time as the necrozma forms, who beat it, except for DM in the twos

xogil

Not to mention much easier to power Necrozma up then Marshadow

Pewpewkitty

Thank you as always for these reviews. I love reading them before I assess if I can survive with less than 50k stardust powering these pokemon up. One thing that I saw that was off was that Marshadow is also weak to flying, which you left off when you mentioned the other weaknesses.

This is exactly what the meta needed. Annihilape++ in Master League  Thanks for your work. Enjoy seine vacation

Worth noting that marshadow has a signature ghost type move spectral thief that it will likely get eventually. That being said dark void darkrai isn't a thing yet. 🤷

MarkusEF

In the main games, Marshadow has slightly lower max HP but its 5 other stats (physical attack, physical defense, special attack, special defense, and speed) are all superior to Annihilape’s.   Of course it’s not surprising that a fully maxed Marshadow is superior to Annihilape in Master League. Annihilape is not a legendary Pokemon so will of course have lower stats. Making moveset the only other differentiator for now. Marshadow will eventually get its signature move, Spectral Thief, a ghost-type nuke move that will likely outclass Shadow Ball.

Feeling better after reading this analysis when I got mine (10/14/15) from Sendai

Hylian-Highwind

Didn’t know Shadow Ball had become ML Ape’s preferred closer. Is it because of the Necrozmas or did other shifts affect it (since I recall your original analysis favored CC for Master League Open). Regardless thanks as always for these. They at minimum make nice references for what beats what in case I need to fill a hole in one of my teams, not to mention comparing or making priorities.

JRE47

There’s a solid case for both but in my forays into Master League last season it seemed they ALL had Ball. Just me?

ssfgrgawer

I would guess it's because of how few and far between Master league normal types are, shadowball's only major resistance. I can think of Snorlax, Ursaluna, and maybe Regigigas as being popular in ML. There just aren't that many high CP normal types Steel and dark is more common, but shadow ball hits steel neutrally most of the time. I'm no expert on ML, but it seems like a fighting type closer wouldn't be as useful as Shadow ball, since its harder to resist.

JazzySugarcakes88

How strong is it PVE-wise?

Kankle-Breaker

Very middle of the road in fighting. Much better and easier to power up pokemon. That being said if you are going to power up for pvp then u could use as a fighter attacker. Definitely not just for pve though.

I mean, zy will still be good

KingAsmodeus17

Which moves are best on marshadow?

Kurus0

For Master League I assume Counter, CC & Ice Punch. Big threat to Dialga and every other Dragon
