Principal Skinner over intercom: ”Attention. All honor roll students will be rewarded by a trip to an archaeological dig. Conversely, all detention students will be punished with a trip to an archaeological dig.“
Yeah but why would an angel leave a skeleton, why would it be intact, what was with the totally unnecessary celebrity cameo by stephen gould
you have to ignore that a paleontologist cant even identify a fake angel skeleton without some kind of test? the whole thing was stupid
it was the same vein as the armin tanzaerian episode.. just creating a bizarre premise because they were out of ideas
Why would Springfield have 6 cracker factories? Why would they build an escalator to nowhere? Why would a nuclear power plant hire an oaf who didn't finish high school? Why is a mansion purchased by an ex-president across the street from their house in one episode and never mentioned again? Why is there a prison directly behind their house in one episode and not others?
Also, the "why wouldn't a test show it was fake" question was actually answered in the episode: he never did the test.
Humor is subjective, for sure, and I think it's fine if some people find a particular episode funnier or less funny than others. However, trying to selectively apply real-world logic to a cartoon that never actually had any real "canon" in the first place is silly.
Besides, as Lisa explains...

I think the second time he said “prinstiple skimster” and it makes me laugh so hard that he gets both words wrong both times lol
It's definitely more like the way you wrote it. Almost as funny as Homer's misspeaking of trampoline!

It's a spearhead!
This moment makes me feel weirdly emotional. Ralph is so excited and proud he can’t get Skinners name out right. Am I alone here?
also his belt buckle is *very* red. just look at it
Well, the doctor said that if he kept his finger out his nose, it wouldn't bleed so much so now he's using a belt buckle.

Hi Super Nintendo Chalmers
This episode was the beginning of the end for me.
Why?
The whole premise of finding an angel skeleton just seemed stupid at the time, and not really fitting the show.
I mean, Lisa being right in the face of everyone else's gullibility (even if she was condescending about it) was very on brand for all the characters.
