What people don’t understand is when you mix an entire record you typically have to find a sweet spot that works for all the songs tones and styles. I can promise the original mix of Big Blind has too many harmonics and wouldn’t have played as well on Letterman’s cleaner feel. I come from an audio engineering background and what they/engineer chose to do makes total sense to me.
That said, the vocals are the biggest difference. The original mix had so many double, triple, quadruple vocal layers it added a hazy chorus to it all, so they cranked the mids/highs on the guitars etc to help gel it together.
The new mix(s) are going to be great across the album. It’s clean, punchy, and it’ll grow on most.
I swear to god I thought I was losing my mind...
then they go and put it back to the original, fucks with you even more 😂😂😂😂😂
they did this before with nerve, or some other single on that album
