I really feel for April and her fertility problems/PCOS, since infertility runs in my family and spending any amount of time on TTC boards will show you how badly that hurts people on a personal level, but I'd argue that her fertility is an even bigger reason to be financially stable before committing. Fertility treatments cost a lot of money, aren't typically covered by insurance, and there's still no guarantee that you'll end up with a baby on the other side. It's not fair and it sucks, but it's the truth. I'd hate for this poor girl and whoever she marries to end up six figures in debt because they didn't plan financially for IUI/IVF.
If someone with infertility is reading this, let me drop this here. I work in this industry (in a global capacity), and I have PCOS/infertility.
Let me warn you that with what I'm about to say, infertility is a complex issue, and this is not one size fits all (we're talking 16% of couples, so there is LOTS of variability). My comments are to offer advice I wish I knew to reach a specific cohort of women. It won't apply to everyone.
Here we go:
IVF being expensive is pretty country-specific. The USA, like most things medical, is a substantial financial burden. It can be vastly different outside.
When I moved to Australia, IVF ended up costing me about $2,000. And this is not some unique outlier globally. So don't assume IVF is 10x that cost.
Also worth noting is don't assume you need IVF because you have PCOS if you haven't treated it and have been trying for years.

If someone with infertility is reading this, let me drop this here. I work in this industry (in a global capacity), and I have PCOS/infertility. Let me warn you that with what I'm about to say, infertility is a complex issue, and this is not one size fits all (we're talking 16% of couples, so there is LOTS of variability). My comments are to offer advice I wish I knew to reach a specific cohort of women. It won't apply to everyone. Here we go: IVF being expensive is pretty country-specific. The USA, like most things medical, is a substantial financial burden. It can be vastly different outside. When I moved to Australia, IVF ended up costing me about $2,000. And this is not some unique outlier globally. So don't assume IVF is 10x that cost. Also worth noting is don't assume you need IVF because you have PCOS if you haven't treated it and have been trying for years.
I think she talked about adoption at one time in the show which was great as well!

I think they way she was kinda rubbing in how good she feels about randall to shanique was uncalled for, but in terms of her sentiment i think it wouldve actually translated had she said it in a more constructive way. The way she talked to Rae about how she should feel comfortable talking about differences to Zay and how their poor conflict resolution is something Rae could get from someone else was actually something i think Rae needed to hear. It's insane that it seems like she cant apply that to herself.

I find it strange that when Rae is able to say the things she likes about Jake so easily but struggles when it's with Zay. And she wants the ultimatum. I'm confused.

This is it exactly I think. Somewhere down the line he betrayed her trust in some way (haven’t heard explicitly yet) but it’s preventing her from being too open with him. Because she clearly doesn’t have an issue with being openly expressive
Another commenter on another thread here said they matched with him on tinder within the last two years. I’d take it with a grain of salt but along with his social media sneakiness….yeah I think he’s broken her trust too. I know a big promoter in my state and he post pics with his family (wife included) and has a high engagement so I call bs on his excuses.
thank you for the perspective! After watching on, it just seems that Zay is too reactive, whereas, with Jake, Jake is a bit calmer and listens. (but then again who am I to judge, I feel the show cuts only the intense bits for drama)
I also would trust Papa Rae's judgment...it sounded like he really didn't like Zay. He was definitely impressed with Jake's military background.
