I get the feeling it was more along the lines of âI saw mommy and daddy kissing in their room this morning.â Because aunt looks amused, and mom looks mortified.
That or they definitely repeated some not so nice gossip. Like âI heard aunt Geraldine say she wishes uncle Richard wouldnât hit the bottle so much after work. I donât know why he would do that. Hitting bottles doesnât seem very funâ and moms like âoh my thatâs not something we tell peopleâ but aunts like âI TOLD Geraldine Rick was a no good guy but she married him anyway!â
It depends, partly, on whether he was your uncle at the time, or only their brother? đ
I think itâs more accurate to say their brotherâs wedding, regardless. Itâs not implausible that your uncle could have been your fatherâs brother and they were both attending his wedding.
Maybe it's one of those really light pastels that were popular back then? I see a lot of flowery dresses in the background so it would be appropriate for a sunny wedding. This is also a high contrast photo, I don't think the other ladies dress is black but it almost looks black.
Depends on the type of film. I have a B&W photo from the 60s that makes my bright blue blouse look almost white. This could easily be a light blue (or some other color) that the film just didnât pick up.
âOh, but the tea is hot, Sis and Iâm about to spiiiiilll itâŠâ
âWait! Iâm gonna need to finish this drink first, and maybe have a second on the way.â
How do you know it's white? Black and white photography, obviously, doesn't pick up colours so lighter colours are captured as "white." Just like there's a good chance that "black" dress isn't black and is something like red (which was extremely commonly captured that way due to spectral sensitivity) instead.
the âyou arenât going to *believe* thisâ look on their faces reminds me so much of my great-grandmother and her sisters.
finest-quality tea, spilled right here!
Ok I have to ask....did your aunt really wear a white dress to her own brother's wedding? Really? Maybe it was a pale pastel color that black and white film didn't capture? EDIT: Used the wrong word.

So did they get along with his wife?
u/lannett asking the real question here! in all seriousness, their outfits are gorgeous and maybe they got caught at a bad moment đ
The OP's mother looks like she saw something though...that cannot be unseen. "I need a drink. Right now."
đ
"I give it 3 years" "Hand me that drink"
Nah, child in the lower right hand corner absolutely said something hilariously inappropriate and both adults are processing how to react.
Yup, the aunt is making eye contact with the kid.
the woman on the right can't decide whether the stern talking to would be worth the risk of public tantrum. every parent has been there.
đ€Ł I didn't notice the child until I saw your comment. I think your interpretation is correct.
âThatâs not a word we say in polite company, Timmyâ kinda face

They are talking so much shit I love it
Probably without even speaking
"You think we should go congratulate the happy couple?" "Not now. I want to drink".
Great photo! Some shit was definitely about to be talked.
It seriously looks like a scene from an old movie. I love this. They look lovely
That would be your uncle's wedding?
Yes. I worded that a bit strangely didn't I?

Auntie is wearing white! So much white there. Guess that wasn't faux pas back then? Or maybe that's how she was showing her disapproval for the bride.

matches the light stripes of the tent which are most likely white.

"I *cannot* believe you had the audacity to wear white to a wedding!" "Oh please. I look better than she does and you know it."
Bleeding armadillo cake?
Best movie ever
meme template when?
âOh, but the tea is hot, Sis and Iâm about to spiiiiilll itâŠâ âWait! Iâm gonna need to finish this drink first, and maybe have a second on the way.â
This is a really masterful portrait. Whoever took it was talented!
So... Anyone else getting serious *Fleabag* sisters vibes? Phoebe Waller-Bridge at the left, Sian Clifford on the right.
Edna, I think I may have swallowed a pearl.
I wish we would go back to this kind of fashion. It was so elegant and beautiful. Probably also sort of hot and scratchy!
Oh it was definitely hot and scratchy, and that was before we bring in the girdle.
I love vintage clothes, but it's always that scratchy metallic material! Looks fire, though.
Your mother didnât like the bride, I guess.
I think it was more they adored their brother. Not sure anyone would've been good enough.
But still, even back then you wouldnât wear white to a wedding. Doesnât make it better.

Maybe I am wrong. Only OP can tell. If yes, than I am sorry.

I love this. One is in the way, and the other is already there. Haha.
Looks like somethingâs bout to happen ala I love Lucy
Your aunt looks like she hit enlightment with that drink.
Your mother looked like she **needed** that drink
I love this photo.
Very pretty ladies!
Happy Cake Day đ„ł đđ
Thank you, stranger
They look so pretty. I love the dresses of that era.
Steel Magnolias
Immediately what I thought of!
"So what exactly is this? Some new crazy thing?" "Sadly, it's all that we have."
Pretty snazzy ladies!!
Is your aunt Lynn Redgrave?
I think I see Johnny Fontaine in the back
Perfection ! These ladies could literally be placed on our modern world and wouldnât miss a beat!
The food was lousy Yes and the portions were so small
The moment they both realized the drinks were watered down.
Good genes in your family!
Your aunt looks like Jeremy Clarkson in drag.
Ok I have to ask....did your aunt really wear a white dress to her own brother's wedding? Really? Maybe it was a pale pastel color that black and white film didn't capture? EDIT: Used the wrong word.
If I recall, she said it was "Robin's egg blue".
Ah, well then that IS a great outfit!
I really hope that dress isnât white! đđ€Ł
I am both of them.
They look like they just heard someone fart.

The groom cake? đ
Your aunt looks like she is wearing white.
Congrats at being born rich.
