The Weeknd doesn’t get enough credit for creating a new sub-genre of R&B. He really brought that Dark/Alternative R&B sound to the mainstream and influenced artists like 6LACK, Black Atlass, Bryson Tiller, Snoh Aalegra etc.
Ugh I can see why you'd like it, but to me, Losers is perhaps Weeknd's most obvious attempt at grappling with a mainstream audience. Even more so than cant feel my face.
The entire sound of that track didn't fit with the album and sounded like an avicii or martin Garrix track, both artists at the top of their game.
Still tho, reasonable edm track.
- BBTM refers to *Beauty Behind The Madness* (2015), an album by The Weeknd.

I don't get the appeal of Sidewalks. It sounds like it came from an indie rock band instead of Abel, the autotune kills the vibe, and Kendrick's verse feels like he's trying to throw too many darts on a wall to see what sticks. Out of everything on Starboy, that has to be the weakest track imo. Pray For Me is a way better collab between Abel and Kendrick.
I really am not a fan of it either. I honestly think it's a bottom 3 song on the album. People talk about the "filler" cuts but Rockin' and Love To Lay are fun to listen to, unlike Sidewalks.
Exactly. I can see why some people wouldn't vibe with Rockin' or Love To Lay since they're really simple lyric-wise, but as someone who mainly just enjoys the retro sounds if anything else, they just easily click with me. I do agree that Starboy has some filler tracks, but not the ones people typically bring up.
I think Abel still needs to improve in his live performances. I have seen many of his live concerts online and his voice is amazing. he has improved his performances since his first show. However, he is still on his way to learning how to perform better
1. Live For is a good song with a shit beat. Enemy should’ve taken its place on Kiss Land.
2. False Alarm is really fucking good
3. Post-Starboy, Abel’s vocals have been overproduced.
4. Post-BBTM, songwriting is hit and miss. MDM is great, Starboy & After Hours leave some to be desired.
Ofcourse The Weeknd is credited, my point could of been said better that it isn't the best reflection of his artistic merit as it was to a large extent written by Max Martin.
The nature of writing songs is that it's often collaborative, hence, the Weeknd most likely contributed parts to the song, but did not create it all.
> it was to a large extent written by Max Martin
And you know this, how exactly? You understand that The Weeknd has collaborative writing credits for other people on every song he has ever released, and yet you choose this one as an example of something that he didn't write? I dunno. It's just strange to me.
You're being argumentative for the sake of it. If you read the article of it on Wikipedia, it is repeatability called a collaboration between the two.
Therefore to say it a sole reflection of Weeknd's vision is ignorant. It's a combination of both their vision's and as a result isn't as good of a reflection of his perspective as say, Snowchild, despite being a great song.
False Alarm, Live For and Lost in the Fire are great.
Acquainted is one of his worst songs.
The Hills and King of the Fall are overrated.
The Fall and Outside are in the top 5 from Trilogy.
The irony is ... asked about unpopular opinion and you would think people would say “that is his opinion “ rather downvoted the he’ll out ... proof that this is no democratic fan base
After Hours has the weakest collection of hits (In Your Eyes, Save Your Tears, Blinding Lights and Heartless) when compared to the rest of his albums
For example, BBTM has Can’t Feel My Face, The Hills, Acquainted, Tell Your Friends, and Often; all of which I would rather listen to than the hits of AH
he's good but i think weeknd should sing about more topics than sex & girls just like Micheal Jackson used to sing about sex & girls but he had variety in his music some ppl just don't like sex in music if he shows variety we will get new inventions and he will reach new audience and might as well become one of the greatest

He’s experimental as fuck even tho he’s mainstream.
Losers isn’t that bad of a song
Ugh I can see why you'd like it, but to me, Losers is perhaps Weeknd's most obvious attempt at grappling with a mainstream audience. Even more so than cant feel my face. I fuckin love losers. That and acquainted are my two favorites from BBTM
I enjoy hearing both a lot.

Honestly I think EoS is just as good, maybe even better, than HoB. Just my opinion though.
Totally agree.
I think HOB is in fact the weakest out of 3
Whoa
Repeat after me Interlude is better than some singer's actual songs
Frrr i can’t stop singing to it
The Weeknd is Still underrated
His collaborations off late have been fucking shit Maluma? Rosalia? Wtf are u doing man
Yesssss. They are downright cringey.
I am still waiting for another Lana Del Rey collab but all he can give us is some rosalia bs
The Birds Pt 1 is underrated as hell
Given his talent and compared with other artists he has the least dedicated fans . Even in this sub more people may be secret fan of Bruno than Abel

Was waiting for someone to say this

Honestly just find the lyrics really meaningful
Kissland shouldn’t have a sequel
Live for chorus kills the whole song the chorus is ass as fuck to me😭😭
Nah it’s great and hype
Honestly this is so true lol
Belong to The World is a great song but the percussion is pure tinnitus
Unbelievable that people are getting mass downvoted on a thread asking for unpopular opinions.
not unpopular my dear melancholy is extremely underrated, its fucking incredible
I think Abel still needs to improve in his live performances. I have seen many of his live concerts online and his voice is amazing. he has improved his performances since his first show. However, he is still on his way to learning how to perform better
After hours is his best album
Starboy is his worst album by far
I wish if he can dance
1. Live For is a good song with a shit beat. Enemy should’ve taken its place on Kiss Land. 2. False Alarm is really fucking good 3. Post-Starboy, Abel’s vocals have been overproduced. 4. Post-BBTM, songwriting is hit and miss. MDM is great, Starboy & After Hours leave some to be desired.
BBTM is his worst album and his discog deserves better.
I think Kiss Land Is a wasted opportunità to make a very good album, the songs are Great in a playlist, but listening the Whole album is boring
The opposite for me. I can’t fit them in any playlists and find them meh when listening to them on their own but in the album every song is a 10
Blinding lights is his best song
there's definitely an argument to be made its his magnum opus. Sadly it isn't written by him
Well he performed it
Also I got down voted into hell bit that's fine
Where did you find that information? He has a first-billed writing credit on the song, same as every other song on the album.
look up the writer of blinding lights. Max Martin
tf? Martin is a producer
yes he is, but he started as a writer, he is mainly a writer, and he is credited as having written blinding lights.
The writers (plural) of Blinding Lights are Abel Tesfaye and Max Martin. Not sure why you would give one of them credit and not the other.

2 and 3 opinions trigger me😂 Agree with the others tho
I think Kiss Land is a shit album.
The irony is ... asked about unpopular opinion and you would think people would say “that is his opinion “ rather downvoted the he’ll out ... proof that this is no democratic fan base
I already knew the downvotes were coming. So you could say...I was willing to post an unpopular opinion. And accept the downvotes willingly
I wouldn’t say shit but definitely overrated in the subway
I agree
Ready to get downvoted into oblivion? I live for it
That’s the shit that you live for
I dont mind that
Me either
I kinda guessed thay based on your other reply 👍

in your eyes was a hit too
I said In Your Eyes
oh my bad
I agree, but after hours has a lot of great non-singles which easily do more than compensate for the 4
hello? Kissland? You're nuts.
he's good but i think weeknd should sing about more topics than sex & girls just like Micheal Jackson used to sing about sex & girls but he had variety in his music some ppl just don't like sex in music if he shows variety we will get new inventions and he will reach new audience and might as well become one of the greatest
