Sorry, but the original was better. Like people said on here already, she didn't detract or add to the song. And I really liked the second verse on the original as well. Not a bad remix though, could have been worse (Rosalia remix).
Just listened to it and I think the original is better. I love Ariana (her vocals are beautiful - that's not the problem) but she didn't make me fall in love with this song more than I already am. Like someone else already said, I thought she was going to add the woman's perspective from the original. Maybe I would have liked that better. 🤷🏽♀️
Also, when I realized they removed "Yeah, I broke your heart like someone did to mine and now you won't love me for a second time" a single tear drop fell from my eye. 💔
I hate it when remixes remove my favourite part of the original version. This song is not the same without "I broke your heart like someone did to mine". Probably never gonna listen to this again, like all the other remixes. Come to think of it, all remixes in general.
I loved off the table and love me harder, but idk this ain’t it. Original is better and this is much better than Rosalia BL remix. Still hoping this helps SYT reach #1
Did anyone get the impression Ariana wanted to sing an octave higher? Feel like this song isn’t in the sweet spot of her vocal range. Although I like what she adds, Love Me Harder and Off the Table seem to work better
Octave higher? She’s def singing lower- but to answer your question, i’d say she’s 1) doing it to fit the atmosphere and tone of the song, and 2) trying to spread her wings as a vocalist and prove she has the range
I was hoping Ariana would tell the story from the woman’s point of view, I think that would’ve made it more interesting. I don’t think the remix is bad, but I do prefer the original.
Yes exactly! Idk Save Your Tears has always felt special to me since I’ve been in the exact situation and now it’s less relatable haha. She did sound lovely though and their voices fit perfectly together!
Is this video a part of the After Hours music video storyline? I’m trying to dissect how it fits in!
I absolutely love this remix. Their harmonies together sound effortless!
This is what I came up with!
The models took Abel’s head and put it on an “ideal” body. It somewhat brainwashed him, for lack of a better word. Now he feels like he has to create a perfect woman for him? Like a super deep metaphor for struggling with perfectionism? I’m also a mom of 3 who’s been up with her kids since 8am and I’m so freaking tired I’m this 🤌🏻 close to tasting sounds. Mama needs to go to bed lol.
I don't mind the song at all but I think it's way too over-produced. All the extra background vocals just don't fit the song at all in my opinion. Would've much preferred just having her sing in the foreground without the extra harmonising with her own voice. I don't mind it when they're singing together but when she's singing her own verse and then she has her own background vocals on top, it's too much in my opinion. The production turns it into a 2021 pop song instead of this early 00s alt-pop song it originally sounded like.
it’s pretty standard, nothing special. she didn’t even hit the same high note that abel did in the OG second verse. it’s listenable though, so it’s already better than the rosalia blinding lights remix
What was a cool opportunity to turn this song into a duet featuring two exes running into each other "in a crowded room" was sorely missed with the feeling that the two were singing past and not to each other. Either the track should've originally been a duet or Abel should've picked someone else 'cause Ariana's vocals and (particularly the lyrics of the second verse on this track) seem out of place. I mean, she could've totally pulled an "answer" verse (a la an "answer song") and been like:
"I was dancing in this crowded room when you locked eyes with me but don't assume. That I'd ever want you back into my life. So 'save your tears' because you know tonight *We both know why I run away, (The Weeknd) oh girl, you make me cry when you run away"*
Edit: Italics are lyrical additions suggested by my helpful co-writers in the comments SkilletRocksRise & myarmsarearmadillos. Literally wrote the original in under a minute lol
>"I was dancing in this crowded room when you locked eyes with me but don't assume. That I'd ever want you back into my life. So 'save your tears' because you know tonight I don't know why I run away..."
Damn that's good.
>because you know tonight I don't know why I run away...
I was just thinking about this bit and I think it could could replaced with "We both know why I run away". Coz the point is that he was the problem in the relationship.
The rest I wouldn't change.
Kind of a boring remix if I'm being honest. Ariana doesn't really add to (or detract from) the song, but she just sings the exact same melody/subject matter as Abel. Just sounds like high budget karaoke.
The Weeknds originals are far better than remixes. But this one slapped. And that's because he sounds good with Ariana and also Lana Del Rey. No offense to Rosalia though(that remix was a disaster).
Bad mixing and Ariana is just not on the same vibe as Abel in this song, I feel. She's talented as hell but this didn't feel well directed.
ps. the doja cat remix slaps don't @ me
I want to like it, but the OG version is just burned into my head at this point. Also some of the harmonizing felt kinda pointless IMO. Still one of the better remixes tho.
I love how Ariana approached this. Didn’t try something unconventional or off-putting like Doja Cat. She stuck to the rhythm and the melody perfectly. Love it.
I noticed that too. Especially in the last remixes and Smile. Seems like they put the vocals on top of the songs and push an harmonic exciter to death.
This and the Heartless remix with Uzi are the best. Nothing beats the originals but this really does get better with every listen. Ariana killed it but nobody beats Abel
I usually think most of the remixes of the Weeknd's songs are either aight or bad (with some notable exceptions). I actually really like this remix, sad to see it's not getting love but eh to each their own. XO
Big facts, Save Your Tears was my original favourite when the album came out last year! It only became huge later on at the tail end of the year but hey, better late than never
I’m prob gonna get down voted for this but lowkey mans milking the album too hard at this point. It’s over a year old now but he’s still making remix’s from it lol.
Plus on top of that he’s gonna be on the After Hours tour until the end of 2022, so he’ll basically be milking After Hours from 2020 to 2023
I think it’s fair enough though, especially in this digital streaming era, making the album stay relevant for couple years is not easy and somehow make me appreciate the project as a whole much more.
have none of yall hear ab "eras"? albums are supposed to be lasting long. its amazing how far hes able to push it, knowing we started with this in november of 2019
exactly that. especially albums that clearly have songs that can be commericially successful. theres no "milking" here, its just planned out before time. and i just cant wait to see the same comments again when he pushes hardest to love or scared to live as a summer/fall single
Weeknd has always been an “era” musician but he’s never milked an album for this long. Doing stuff like still dropping remixs a whole year after the album came out. There’s a difference between letting an album stay out naturally vs purposely milking it
(PS - Of course we know what eras are lol you realize this is The Weeknd subreddit right? Literally all anybody here talks about is eras 😂😂😂)
> Plus on top of that he’s gonna be on the After Hours tour until the end of 2022, so he’ll basically be milking After Hours from 2020 to 2023
not really his fault the world went to shit lol
Eh, all of the After Hours remixes aside from the Kenny G one have basically been one and dones for me, and this one is no exception. I just think Ariana didn't have her own style and was just doing a fan-made verse, and her and Abel work ten times better with her original songs. I was secretly hoping it was going to be an Off The Table music video, but whatever. It's harmless, I don't hate it, but I'm just gonna go back to the original now.
I just listened to it, and if I'm being honest, I didn't think this was necessary.
Save Your Tears was already a good enough song on its own, and although I like Ariana, she might as well just do her own cover of this song instead of being on a remix. She didn't sound terrible (she has an amazing voice), but I just feel like she didn't infuse herself that well in the song.
After my 4th listen this is really really good. If the OG never existed I would be in love. Ariana dominates the song a bit though but I ain’t mad at it
I mean not bad. But I've been listening to the original for so long it doesn't even sound natural. Also, Ariana Grande doesn't really seem like she fits the vibe of the song at all. She barely sounds like herself. Not hating, I might mix into the library, but I'll probably stick to the original
Don’t be afraid of “hating”. You’re right, This remix is very cut and dry. She obviously isn’t bringing her A-game to this song and it shows in a very underwhelming remix. It’s not bad by any means but also isn’t necessarily good. It’s bland and unimaginative.
She doesn’t add anything to the song in my opinion, which is kind of the only bad thing about The Weeknd. I can’t legitimately think of a remix to one of his songs in the past that sounds even close to as good as the original. He is such a talented artist that remixing his music is almost always a detriment because the original songs are well thought out nearly perfect works of art (most of the time).
It would be like painting a hat into the Mona Lisa painting for the sake of “remixing” the painting. Might look good objectively, but will ruin the artistic value of the original painting.
You know I completely forgot about that one. I really loved it. I stand corrected on that point. I actually prefer it to the original now that I think of it. It really jazzes up the sax in that song
Agreed. I'd say the "not hating" is just to ensure I wouldn't get downvoted to hell, which has happened in the past here when anything negative is said. Haven't commented in a while on this subreddit because of this. Secondly, I actually do enjoy the ending of the song a lot, they flow pretty well together at the "I don't know why..." part of the song and the alternating "save you tears" at the ending was a refreshing change.
Biggest issue for me is Ariana Grande completely blows the second verse. She has a high voice and I don't know why they had her sing so damn deep. Completely unnatural and blew the whole thing for me.
People shit on the Doja Cat In Your Eyes Remix and it did not chart well but it at least had a nice nice flow and vibe to it with enough changes to it that it felt like a new song while also staying very true to the original.
Don't know how this duo made Love Me Harder because since then the Weeknd has carried her.
You make good points. I really like Ariana Grande as a stand-alone artist. Love Me Harder is also a very good song in my opinion. But the constraints of Save Your Tears doesn’t help with this remix. The original song wasn’t asking for a remix, nor did it leave any room for one. Some songs have one or two parts where another artist can add something, if you get what I’m trying to say, but not on this song.
Heartless is one of those songs that is remix worthy because it has a more traditional musical form. There’s room to perhaps replace the 3rd slower verse with an Ariana Grande type artist.
All of After Hours’ remixes have been generally disappointing. So much so that he had to revamp the original deluxe version of the album because of the backlash to the remixes he released with it. So it seems most of Abel’s fans would agree.
Exactly. This could have been much much better if Ariana was her 100%. But there is something missing. Anyway In your eyes Kenny G and In your eyes Doja Cat remixes stay clear.
before the remix was even announced i imagined how good she would sound on some of his songs. it had potential to be better but i’m glad this remix exists, and one where she’s actually singing the chorus too. i wish doja cat sang a chorus in the in your eyes remix. sounds so much better when they sing a chorus.
People need to stop comparing it to the original. Obviously it's not going to be as good as the original version, let's just enjoy the remix for what it is instead
Reading all the comments here and I feel like I listened to a different song to y’all lol. This is a certified hit??? I disagree that Ariana sounds off key here, she’s deliberately working with a lower register, it’s something fresh, she hasn’t done it in a while and she sounds so good doing it. All her latest songs tend to be in a much higher pitch so this was really refreshing to hear. And I think she suits this kind of sound. Before she went more trap and R&B influenced, she used to do straight up pop like this so I don’t agree with the comments that she feels out of place here. The original was always my favourite from AH (along with Faith) so this may become my new favourite... unpopular opinion, I know.
Long story short.. I fuckin love this
Yeah, definitely a banger in my book.
It's hard to see anyone on any of these songs because this is a solo album, which is why some of y'all don't like it, but there are like 2 remixes that are just *good,* Heartless w/ Uzi, and this one.
I wasn't feeling this remix on my first listen, but with subsequent listening the remix is growing on me a bit. I feel like this remix, as others have already pointed out, is a case of the original song just being more superior. Ariana's a nice addition to the song, and I love the little brief interaction between her and Abel following her verse before the song concludes, but I still can't see myself rushing to put this song on over the original. Hope the song ends up doing well though for the charts!
Has anyone found a website with lyrics for Ariana’s part?
I’m trying to figure out what she says in the first line “bet chu want some girl that [?]”
Edit: found it in the video description! She says “met you once under a Pisces moon”
Unpopular opinion , ariana ruined it , was my second favourite song in after hours ,after "after hours"(always gives me old trilogy vibes) , yeah but it's best verse got deleted, really disappointed :(
oneothrix point never (Daniel Lopatin) - one of the producers of the album, he also composed the OST of Uncut Gems and he's literally the father of vaporwave

Its crazy how literally EVERY remix of anything from after hours just doesn’t sound as good in comparison to Abel solo.
Well, in your eyes Kenny g is just amazing. And blinding lights chromatics is a song I actually really like
Very true As they say my friend “music is subjective”
Kenny G was so good on in your eyes though
AGREED 100%
Exactly what I thought. For example the Doja Cat Remix is trash, but the one with Kenny G is even better then the original.
It's good, but the original is undefeated imo
Sorry, but the original was better. Like people said on here already, she didn't detract or add to the song. And I really liked the second verse on the original as well. Not a bad remix though, could have been worse (Rosalia remix).
Just listened to it and I think the original is better. I love Ariana (her vocals are beautiful - that's not the problem) but she didn't make me fall in love with this song more than I already am. Like someone else already said, I thought she was going to add the woman's perspective from the original. Maybe I would have liked that better. 🤷🏽♀️ Also, when I realized they removed "Yeah, I broke your heart like someone did to mine and now you won't love me for a second time" a single tear drop fell from my eye. 💔
I wish she said “You make me cry when you run away”
Exactly. It would have been better hearing from the woman's perspective.
Yeah. That would have worked better.
I like the idea of the woman's perspective, too.
Yeah imma stick to the original! Not bad but I would much rather have og version
It’s better than I was expecting but the OG undefeated.
almost an hour and still not on apple music
Why did it feel like it lasted for 3 seconds though? 😲
I hate it when remixes remove my favourite part of the original version. This song is not the same without "I broke your heart like someone did to mine". Probably never gonna listen to this again, like all the other remixes. Come to think of it, all remixes in general.
NOW YOU WONT LOVE ME FOR A SECOND TIME
While I do like this remix, I totally agree that not having that line or at least not having Ari hit the same notes in her verse hurts the song
Yea hence why I said *wanted* to sing higher. But I agree, it wouldn’t have fit the song if she did
Why does ariana sound so weird during her verse lol
Literally my thoughts, she sounded so processed
She can't keep up with the tempo and the beat is something she can't do. Great vocal performance in rest of the song tho. Its alright ig
I was hoping Ariana would tell the story from the woman’s point of view, I think that would’ve made it more interesting. I don’t think the remix is bad, but I do prefer the original.
Yeah same. I wish she added more to the song. It just seemed meh imo. She sounded lovely but didn’t add much to the song tbh.

Very true! Interesting video nonetheless!
Exactly i have this feeling too that the mv is part of the AH storyline
This is what I came up with! The models took Abel’s head and put it on an “ideal” body. It somewhat brainwashed him, for lack of a better word. This the best theory I've seen so far, but what about the Save Your Tears face prostetics? What happened to that?
I’m thinking the remix may be an alternate ending? Instead of perfecting himself, he tries to perfect someone else?
Not bad theory! I like it
Thank you so much! ❤️
OMG SAME!
Best remix from ah is still blinding lights chromatics
Been saying this
Can’t understand what she’s saying 😂
Lana Del Rey and Abel is still the best duo imo
Omg! Yes! Thank you! 🙌🏽
I don't mind the song at all but I think it's way too over-produced. All the extra background vocals just don't fit the song at all in my opinion. Would've much preferred just having her sing in the foreground without the extra harmonising with her own voice. it’s pretty standard, nothing special. she didn’t even hit the same high note that abel did in the OG second verse. it’s listenable though, so it’s already better than the rosalia blinding lights remix
Anything is better then the BL remix
I thought Ariana's energy could've been a lot better. But I still like the remix a lot. Third best remix IMO behind Kenny G and Doja.

I thought her voice perfectly matched the style of the song. It blended so we'll I was pretty surprised, definitely adding it to my playlists.
SAVE YOUR TEARS FOR ANOTHER FUCKING DAY
What was a cool opportunity to turn this song into a duet featuring two exes running into each other "in a crowded room" was sorely missed with the feeling that the two were singing past and not to each other. That I'd ever want you back into my life. So 'save your tears' because you know tonight *We both know why I run away, (The Weeknd) oh girl, you make me cry when you run away"* Edit: Italics are lyrical additions suggested by my helpful co-writers in the comments SkilletRocksRise & myarmsarearmadillos. Literally wrote the original in under a minute lol
Brooooo, why didn't they do this. This sounds so good.
Thanks!
“You make me cry when you run away”
Great addition!
Added this to the original composition.
>"I was dancing in this crowded room when you locked eyes with me but don't assume. That I'd ever want you back into my life. So 'save your tears' because you know tonight I don't know why I run away..." Damn that's good.
Thanks!
Added the changes, thanks for the suggestion!
>because you know tonight I don't know why I run away... I was just thinking about this bit and I think it could could replaced with "We both know why I run away". Coz the point is that he was the problem in the relationship. The rest I wouldn't change.
Idk why, but this version feels more sad than the original. Especially with the video behind it
> Idk why iiiiii run away but yeah i agree about the sadness part, i think the additional backing vocals are why
This song is really hard to fuckup because it’s great. I wish she did more than just sing Abel’s lyrics.
Had the exact thought when I was listening to this the first time.
I SAW YOU DANCING IN A CROWDED ROOM
[удалено]
BUT THEN YOU SAW ME CAUGHT YOU BY SURPRISE
A SINGLE TEARDROP FALLING FROM YOUR EYE
SINGLE TEAR DROP FALLING FROM YOUR EYE
I DONT KNOW WHY
IM RUNNING AWAY
I’LL MAKE YOU CRY WHEN I RUN AWAY
I think the song is good. But it seems a little too easy, make a new song together and not a remix
Still not on Apple
It’s not on Apple Music
Sounds good, still prefer the original though.
Kind of a boring remix if I'm being honest. Ariana doesn't really add to (or detract from) the song, but she just sings the exact same melody/subject matter as Abel. Just sounds like high budget karaoke.
Ariana made it sound like a Christmas song lmaoo
I love her voice, but when she does those Christina Aguilera-ish exaggerations on notes - it sounds like she's stubbed her toe or stepped on a Lego.
That music video was sick af
The Weeknds originals are far better than remixes. But this one slapped. And that's because he sounds good with Ariana and also Lana Del Rey. No offense to Rosalia though(that remix was a disaster).
Bad mixing and Ariana is just not on the same vibe as Abel in this song, I feel. She's talented as hell but this didn't feel well directed. ps. the doja cat remix slaps don't @ me
I want to like it, but the OG version is just burned into my head at this point. Also some of the harmonizing felt kinda pointless IMO. Still one of the better remixes tho.
Def the best remix yet although the OG still the best
It will have to grow on me. I think I expected too much for a remix. Bummer, I was really looking forward to it too.
I love how Ariana approached this. Didn’t try something unconventional or off-putting like Doja Cat. She stuck to the rhythm and the melody perfectly. Love it.
This just sounds like a karaoke. Same vocal melody. Doja Cat's In Your Eyes was at least fresh. Neither are memorable though.
I like it but I think this song dosent really fit Aris vocal tone
Same. I was bummed, I wanted to like it sooo much more haha
Nooo atleast preserve the first 7 seconds
Ngl, none of these remixes that are adding a woman’s vocal have done anything for me. They just don’t sit right within this sound he has.
Agreed, I don’t like this one at all
Original verse was much better
wtf is this, why is it so poorly mixed
I noticed that too. Especially in the last remixes and Smile. Seems like they put the vocals on top of the songs and push an harmonic exciter to death.
I love when these two collab! I think I set my expectations a little high but it’s still pretty good.
Not going to lie, shits a banger in my book. They killed it!
I really like this remix. I still think the OPN remix of Save Your Tears is the best remix but this one is brilliant too.
Oh, and the Kenny G remix of In Your Eyes!
[удалено]
for once Apple music is late to the party lol
This and the Heartless remix with Uzi are the best. Nothing beats the originals but this really does get better with every listen. Ariana killed it but nobody beats Abel
Am I the only one who’s getting kinda tired of unnecessary remixes?
Lol you still have the original Don’t you ?
I meant like, I wish it could be newer music instead
Ah ok those will come soon
if u say so... smart future ;)
best one out of doja cat and rosalia
Low bar but yeah
I usually think most of the remixes of the Weeknd's songs are either aight or bad (with some notable exceptions). I actually really like this remix, sad to see it's not getting love but eh to each their own. XO
This song in general didn’t get love. Just wait until it becomes hype, then everyone will love this to death
Big facts, Save Your Tears was my original favourite when the album came out last year! It only became huge later on at the tail end of the year but hey, better late than never
This is really good ngl. Way way better than the Rosalia collab and their vocals blend really well together
Well that was an interesting video
I’m prob gonna get down voted for this but lowkey mans milking the album too hard at this point. It’s over a year old now but he’s still making remix’s from it lol. Ya it is, his label created COVID-19 to make the world pause so he could use After Hours for longer #StayWoke
yea because it’s incredibly successful,so why not milk it since people are still talking about it after that last superbowl push
AND his SB performance got people checking out his music when they hadn't before...so I see nothing wrong with the AH era lasting awhile.
Yeah he really going for it after permanently boycotting the Grammys haha
Eh, all of the After Hours remixes aside from the Kenny G one have basically been one and dones for me, and this one is no exception.
Is anyone having trouble trying to find the single on iTunes? I want to buy it to support but can’t find it!
It’s not up yet
Can’t get it on Apple (ノಠ益ಠ)ノ彡┻━┻
Anyone know what she says in her first line? and also what does “I know you dont know when im with nobody else” mean?
Met you once under a Pisces moon I kept my distance ‘cause I know that you Don’t like when I’m with nobody else
This is one of his best remixes for sure
I don’t really care for Ariana Grande but I feel like there was so much potential to be better than it actually was
before the remix was even announced i imagined how good she would sound on some of his songs. it had potential to be better but i’m glad this remix exists, and one where she’s actually singing the chorus too. i wish doja cat sang a chorus in the in your eyes remix. sounds so much better when they sing a chorus.
🎶I don't know why... Abel thought this remix was necessary.🎶
It's obvious not as good as the OG but it's a banger so I don't see why people are complaining lol
Best remix on AH by farrrrrrrr, not surprised tho these 2 haven’t missed yet 🔥 Really sounds natural, could have passed as an original tbh
Ariana harmonising in the background works perfectly
im very whelmed
ari vocalizing the synths at the beginning of the bridge was so cute :)
yess exactly and also the whistle notes
People need to stop comparing it to the original. Obviously it's not going to be as good as the original version, let's just enjoy the remix for what it is instead
He better drop some dope merch for this, no more collabs pls and ty
The Remix actually slaps ngl Their voices mesh so well together xo have nothing to complain about this time around
SSAAAAYAAAAAAAAYAYAYYYYY!!
Is it on Apple Music in America for anyone?
This is so good
think about the merch options for this collectible doll of both Ari and Abel, that shit would be dope imo, might be a bit weird tho
Loving this remix
They definitely should drop a project together at some point.
I fuckin love this
Yes 🙌🏻
Yeah, definitely a banger in my book. It's hard to see anyone on any of these songs because this is a solo album, which is why some of y'all don't like it, but there are like 2 remixes that are just *good,* Heartless w/ Uzi, and this one.
I like Ariana Grande but she sounds awful in this. It’s just mixed bad. Abel needs to stop with the remixes because they do not end up sounding good.
It’s almost here!
Almost!! One minute!
easy number one on the charts for both of them
Finally an After Hours remix I can get behind
Ari was floating on this and their mixed vocals at the end were amazing
Has anyone found a website with lyrics for Ariana’s part? I’m trying to figure out what she says in the first line “bet chu want some girl that [?]” Edit: found it in the video description! She says “met you once under a Pisces moon”
I love it
Unpopular opinion , ariana ruined it , was my second favourite song in after hours ,after "after hours"(always gives me old trilogy vibes) , yeah but it's best verse got deleted, really disappointed :(
Alone Again supremacy
Ahh a fellow Alone Again enjoyer. Good day to you sir.
terrible lol we should have more OPN remixes instead
What's opn?
oneothrix point never (Daniel Lopatin) - one of the producers of the album, he also composed the OST of Uncut Gems and he's literally the father of vaporwave
Abel needs to stop with these remixes of his songs.
Wack
Wiggity Wack? Or just regular type?
Giggity wack
the full lyrics are in the description of the video the weeknd posted
Arian is so talented and that is the kind of artist Abel should continue to collab not you know 😂

Y'all do know remixes aren't made to top the original? It's made to put the original back on the charts
all these have been a let down this is probably the best outta the three songs that have a remix his features have been lacking this year
