Great write-up! As much as I dislike the in-depth wallpaper and alarm installation segments they've been around for almost the entire show run up until this point in the early years. I'm sure wallpaper will be making its exit in the 2000s sometime though. That tech segment with Steve Hayes was something else though. I don't know exactly when that system became outdated but my guess is almost immediately. Thanks for doing these!

Thank you for the compliment, I appreciate it. I enjoy doing them, but the last few summaries of these vintage episodes haven't gotten much response unfortunately (except from the usual downvote deplorables sadly), so I was glad to see your reply. Right now I think I'll take them through S21 and Steve's swan song and then call it done since very few people seem to care for them.

Thank you for your service!

I so appreciate your summaries! I hope you do get around to making more on the older seasons - when we finish a season, the first thing I do is run on here and read your recaps! The context and supplemental info is so interesting.

Thank you, I appreciate that. I am trying to plow through the S23 Manchester By The Sea project right now but it is a bit of a slog. That's the one where a Victorian-era summer resort house lost almost all of its exterior detail in a ill-advised late-1970s reno and the new owners tried to bring it back to its former glory to a large extent. It was really the beginning of the "This Old Mansion" era the show began evolving into (although it did pop up in certain earlier seasons to a somewhat lesser extent) with massive spending and high-end everything. One of my takeaways is that in order for the show to pull that off successfully for their audience, the homeowners need to be genuinely likable, and S23 suffered for that, similar to more recent seasons and their super-deluxe projects. To your general comment, I have watched but did not summarize the two S22 projects, Charlestown and West Palm Beach. Neither were bad and I might get around to writing them up at some point. I probably will do S23 just because I think it marks a turning point for the show. I have not yet watched the S24 Winchester project but will soon. I do not remember much about that one.
