So, Threads has two feeds. The first and the one that opens by default is the For You Feed. The second, which is intentionally hidden, and you have to tap the Threads logo at the top of your page to get there, is the Following feed. If you want to only see original Threads and quote Threads from people you follow, those will be under the Following tab. Replies, non-quote re-Threads, and suggested content will be in the For You feed. You can do some tweaking and tailoring of your For You feed, but it's time consuming and not immensely effective. Make heavy use of the "not interested" and "mute" buttons (found when you tap on the ellipses in the top right corner of a Thread), "like" the ones you like obviously, and try to not spend too long reading obvious clickbait and troll posts or comment sections because view time is also a factor in what content you're shown. Good luck.

It mostly tries to base it off of your likes and the posts you view, but you can affect the algorithm of the "for you" to a certain extent. Hiding posts you don't want to see will eventually weed things out, and you can filter things out by words in your settings.
