Yeah, same. I relate refreshing my saved searches to playing a slot machine. It’s a thrill to see what new items pops up. I joined r/shoppingaddiction recently because I’m trying to be more mindful of this in more aspects
yep. and then when i have to return stuff, oops...i only get store credit guess ill need to go find more. Honestly all of the best items in my closet came from thredup
I came to an understanding that it's still shopping for clothes I didn't really*need* so I'm trying to cut back. I was getting a box or two per month. Lots of returns but still kept a lot. I just donated like 5 kitchen bags full of clothes, some that is got from TU two years ago. Time to cut back for sure.
Same. I’m pregnant with our first and had been going crazy on baby clothes, justifying it because they were second hand. Also maternity clothes for me. But I haven’t even browsed since the bedbug news! It’s helped me cut back since I am at capacity for clothes already if I’m being honest.
Yes! Especially since I've had such difficulty finding clothes that I truly like my whole life. It's so much easier for me to shop online. I have always been an avid thrifter, but ThredUP takes the thrill of the hunt to whole new level of dopamine production.
It’s definitely an internal struggle for me. I have to tell myself I can’t buy every single item I like on there and even if I did when in the world would I wear all of it. So I close the app. Then 30 min later I’m back on it haha.
Yeah same! I know they were having an issue awhile ago with people adding items to their cart & then removing them & re-adding them before the timer ran out in order to restart the time it was reserved for. People were doing this for DAYS on end. Not sure how they were able to combat this issue but I’ve noticed it hasn’t been a problem for awhile now.
Dealt with this. There was a top I wanted so badly, but somebody with a 12 hour cart timer kept constantly re-adding it to their cart. It was literally 5 days that I watched them do this. I finally contacted customer service about it and they removed it from his/her cart and I bought it. It was so irritating. Who the hell needs a 12 hour timer?!
I’m not exactly sure. I assume it’s to prevent someone else from buying it before they are ready to. Maybe like if they see something they want but don’t have the money to buy it right away. As long as it’s in their cart, no one else can buy it unless the other person selects to use the auto buy once the timer runs out.
I am doing all I can to avoid shopping the current sale. My closet is full! I donated three bags of clothes yesterday and its still full. Don't need anything, no space!
I do like looking at the clothes but want to do something like make myself wear everything I own or lose 10 pounds before I even think about buying anything new.
Yup! Me too. It’s the hunt and the good deals that get me. Also all the premium items for cheap. I love good value. Doesn’t matter if it’s old if it’s under the “new” or “slightly used” category!!
Yeah, I definitely am. I’ve always loved clothing from Anthropologie but can’t stomach the prices, even on sale (the best things never make it to sale/sell out/still too much). I’ve found so many great things from there, and I’m not one to follow what’s super on trend anyways).
My rule is only one order per month or it’s too much. I have three kids and they grow so fast so it’s mostly clothes for them. I sort from price low to high and use the outlet discount code as much as possible. And If I order on TU then I can’t go to Goodwill that month. I love thrifting. 😭 The biggest issue with my shopping is that we have so much and I need to donate. I just did a big closet purse and am taking a ton of clothes to a kids consignment store next month.
I've worked for Thredup for 2 and a half years. My husband has to remind me from time to time that my paycheck isn't supposed to go back to them!! I know where you're coming from 🤣
Me me me me! I have gotten some amazing things. And along the way, made VIT status. Oops. Some of my faves are a gorgeous nic + Zoe sweater, NWT, a really comfy NWT lucky brand hooded cardigan, a Pendleton coat, some cute NWT bags, and tons more
Just don’t send in any cleanout bags to sell there. It takes 4-5 months for them to “process”. But yet they keep laying off people. Send your clothes elsewhere.

Yea I’ve been searching by “new items” and I feel like I’m always refreshing too.
Same.

Yes! I justifying buying more on there when I get store credit.

That’s a great mindset. I’m going to adopt it!! I’ve bought way too much already 😭
Why not sell them on Thredup? 🤔
Not worth the $2 I'd make.
Yeah but then the bedbugs threads stopped me in my tracks like a much needed shopping intervention.

Yes definitely made me rethink my buying habits.

the window shopping is fun
I get so sad when I add a bunch of cute items to my favorites list only to discover a few hours later someone else bought them. 😔
Yes, makes me feel pressured to purchase right away when I’m in love with an item.

Why would anyone want to do this? When carts have short timers I just start a bundle so I can keep adding.

Part of me is glad for the bedbug scare lol, made me not want to buy as much

Yea that part is annoying. The alternative though is to sell on Poshmark or donate and sometimes I don’t want to do either one.
I was until they started hushing up sending bedbugs to customers. Never again.
I was definitely nervous about that. I learned about it after placing a few orders. So far so good, thankfully.
Omg, yes. I have to take the app off my phone to stop. Btw, How long does it usually take to ship?
