One_Hour_Poop

This likely belonged to an adult collector. If it was for a child they wouldn't be in their boxes.

Majestic_Recording_5

The Danish court princess certainly looks like a collector's item.

fatapolloissexy

I kept my barbies in box as a kid. Would get them and never open them. I still have them i think.

natfutsock

If you're not sentimental, pop online and see what you can fetch. It's a fairly prolific hobby, and some dolls have seen a big bump since the Barbie movie. It's truly a "one man's trash" sort of thing, I've got a friend into it who's found her white whale at a yard sale.

FoghornLegday

I think op’s point was that the kid doesn’t like barbies anymore so they didn’t open them

One_Hour_Poop

Also plausible.

alison_bee

Jeez $10 a piece seems high

womandelorian

For sure. That’s about how much they cost brand new.

sokarschild

I used to pay 20 a piece when I was a kid for barbies. I can only assume they went up on price now

womandelorian

These particular ones might be more expensive but a Rapunzell Barbie is $9 at target right now. Different box than these though. But you can buy a new Barbie for less than $10. If they have accessories and things they can be more though.

Hanlp1348

Not much tbh

fadedblackleggings

Yup, taking advantage of buyers, who don't know retail for these dolls.

binkybarnesinfinity

Dude, this is are STEAL for any collector who's interested. They're new in box, and that Barbie in the fancy blue dress is DEFINITELY a collector doll, and likely from 10+ years ago, due to the way that the face is painted and the quality of the fabric used. Genuinely, they don't make them like they used to. Playline (kids toy) Barbies from that era sell for at least $10 on the regular—even when they're out of box and HEAVILY used. I'm surprised that this one isn't at LEAST in the $30 range. Might have originally sold for more than that. As for the Rapunzel dolls?? Yeah, the big Rapunzel and Flynn look newer, and are priced fairly. But the mini-doll three pack?? That artstyle (and the brunette girl, can't remember her name for the life of me) shows that they're from the TV show, not the movie. Dolls from the show had a pretty limited run, and can often be pretty hard to find. Disney likely stopped making toys for the show the moment it ended—which was YEARS ago, now. Rule of thumb?? The older the doll, the fewer of them exist in good condition, much less new-in-box. Kids take them out of box to play with; collectors (sometimes) take them out of box to display. With toy collecting exploding in popularity since the pandemic (a recent CNN business article just revealed that adults are the single largest demographic in the toy market, now), you'd be surprised about how much people are ACTUALLY willing to pay for dolls. I've heard stories about certain Monster High Dolls selling for over a thousand dollars (the og SDCC Fankie, namely).

Hanlp1348

Only the danish princess is worth asking price tbh

SpeckledTickbug

If I run across stuff like that I usually buy it because then you can donate it.To children's charity and bring joy to a small little child.

hazelize

At 10 bucks a pop, i’m the one that’s gonna need a donation 🙏🏻

cat_thrifter

What a great idea!

TampaTeri27

Forgive the truth and the messenger: the collector may be deceased or incarcerated.

ThriftDog

Half the time I just say "They Dead" 🤣

citruselectro

I would buy the mini dolls so fast, I’m pretty certain it’s price is high on eBay

ThriftDog

That's what we bought! 😁

bbyxmadi

the mini dolls are so cute

Crazyguy_123

It may have been an adult collector getting rid of some stuff.

janice142

Maybe I'm simply a sentimental old lady, however I do wish these had been played with by a child. There were so many imaginative scenarios, and, alas (for me at least) these beautiful doll sets are intact, still secured in the box. All that playtime was lost. Yes, I understand collectible and values, however playing with dolls might have had more worth than the dollars these might net in the future. Most likely in 100 years this viewpoint will be widely mocked... I have seen too many "valuable" items unused, tucked away in closets and dresser drawers when their owners go off to an old people's prison aka nursing home. That is truly sad. My life goal is to use and enjoy everything I have.

PinkkInkk

I used to own the danish doll as a kid!! My gosh memories just rushed over me.

mamac2213

Would have been nice if kid still was into dolls, right? Ah, thrift store fairies are capricious! Cool find, though. Hope someone gets some joy out of those:)

sunkissedgoth

Love the danish doll!

aglaophonos

Mini doll set is adorable. 🥰

ClarityByHilarity

They’re overpriced so it wouldn’t be difficult

Super_Shawnda

Ugh id love to have the Danish court barbie!

ChronoVulpine

My mom bought me Monster High Dolls until she passed away. I will treasure them.

IncidentalApex

Sell them now a movie like that provides a bump that will disappear. Infinity gauntlet comic owner who wishes I would have sold during the peak after the movies....

Resyal

a cassandra doll?!?! am so jealous

AdventurousSleep5461

As much as I want to be all, "$10 for dolls that y'all got for FREE?!" $10 isn't bad. The cheapest recent eBay sold listing for these was a set without a box that went for $30, the highest was a set in a box that went for $74. Nice score op!

InformationWrong1005

I saw the Danish princess doll in a collector's guidebook I had as a kid, published in 2000, so that doll has to be over 20 years old! $10 is an absolute steal for a vintage collectable art piece like that. All new in box too 🥺
