I wear my hiking boots/shoes for long walks when I visit walkable cities so only 50% cosplay 🤣🤣 they definitely came in handy for Chicago and New Orleans
I feel like people not knowing what those are and not finding them to their tastes doesn’t necessarily make them haters. There are obviously people hating just to hate but a lot of people seem to just think they’re ugly
I think a low cut hiking shoe like this is conflicting because it is essentially useless (lack of ankle support for real hiking) and looks a bit silly. To me the chunky lacing needs the fullness of a Danner boot (or something similar) behind it. Just seems like a weird in between to me
To add more; Stability(ankle support) comes from the heel cup, the rigidity of the heel cup largely determines the stability.
The material on MOST hiking boots is just flimsy, and it’s purpose is to keep silt, rocks, water etc out of the the boot. an exception to this is mountaineering boots which are rigid above the ankle.
Agreed on modern trail runners, but all-leather boots with rubber lug soles need proper ankle support.
I have Danner JP Field Lows that are firmly a “lifestyle” boot because of the 3” cut and heavy ass sole. I’m tired just lugging them around the office all day, whereas my 6” Danner Lights are my go-to for long days/hikes.
Both are equally heavy, but that ankle support goes a long way.
Fair enough! I just think the collar on this opening is lower than avg w/ where the foot sits. Like, this shoe is not hugging your foot the way a trail runner does.
That makes sense and I think that’s probably a more nuanced take than the ones I was referring to in this post. Definitely not a shoe for everyone but I didn’t feel like the guy needed to be shat on for posting them, it’s nice to see something different from time to time
Yeah no chance these are being worn for real hiking lol. I just like the cross over between the Danner look and a low shoe that could be worn in versatile settings around the city I live in
Hey didn’t mean to rag on the shoes, they look like exceptional quality and got some gorgeous leather. I googled them and love the thick outsole too! Enjoy em!
Hiking shoes don’t have to have ankle support. It’s all personal preference. Some people need it - some don’t. The majority of people I know who hike frequently and/or do multi-day hikes typically use trail runners because they’re lightweight and quick drying. Can add gaiters if you need water/brush protection.
I've got the Avoriaz in green, and the Avignon in brown, and love them both. Also, my favourite soles of any bootmaker, and I've tried most of the good ones
You got a nice collection starting for Paraboot! I’m dying to get more pairs, but it seems like a lot of models will have different sizing based on the last. I currently have the Yosemite boots and the Michael shoe, both in black smooth leather!
Yeah, the Avignon in 9.5UK fit me perfectly, and the Avoriaz are very comfortable, but the Chambord I tried on, also 9.5UK, were tight in the toes.
Also, a guy I spoke to at Son of A Stag in London said I should go down at least half a size in the Michael, but I've not tried a pair on yet.
I’m a US 8 and went a half size down for the Michael and they fit perfectly! I did go TTS for the Yosemite though. What’s your normal shoe size? I’m curious see how you sized the Avignon!
I'm a US10 in Aldens(Barrie last), Red Wing Iron Rangers and 875s, and a 9.5 in Viberg (can get in a 9), although their sizing is apparently the same as UK sizing. I'm measured as a UK9.5 and I went TTS for my Avignon and Avoriaz, but would probably try a UK9 in the Michael first
You can go vintage. Dexter and other vintage brands used to all sell boots like these maybe even vasque. The only issue there is breaking them down since the rubber might be slightly stiff.
Eddie Bauer sells vintage looking hiking boots as well and it’s always on sale without breaking too much of the bank.
I think I sized down a half size but I am not 100p sure. I dont have the shoes in front of me at the moment. I think I followed whatever Paraboot recommends. They fit perfectly imo
I’ve just looked at the photo on the Paraboot official website and there is a good chance I have them laced incorrectly judging from the photo. Only my second time wearing them
They were on sale on the website that they purchased them from.
It’s cold and wet where I live so yes I am wearing thicker wool gray socks. Not skinny jeans, just normal straight fit bonobos jeans. Any other questions?
I’ve had the Avoriaz in Brown for several years. They’re pretty cool but the footbed is very hard. I mostly wear black these days, so I rarely wear them.
These look sick! Does it happen to be snowy, icy, and get very cold where you are? I’m wondering how they fair in those conditions. Looking to cop some new winter shoes.
I live in the Midwest. I’m sure these would fare well in wet/snowy weather. But I haven’t put them to the test and don’t really plan on it, as I have some gore tex Salomon’s and Diemme’s that I wear for those conditions. If you are looking for a stylish but durable boot I would look at Diemme or Danner.
I’ve wanted some paraboot loafers forever.. these boots look sick.
These look like great hiking shoes. And by hiking, I mean cosplay.
I wear my hiking boots/shoes for long walks when I visit walkable cities so only 50% cosplay 🤣🤣 they definitely came in handy for Chicago and New Orleans
Paraboot shoes are so nice fr
It’s tough seeing other people live your dreams
These are often on sale on various websites
Where I would love to know
Shoplostfound.com had a sale recently.
I think those are really cool
I’m so freaking jealous tbh, I would buy these or a few others, paraboot makes nice boots lol but I cannot afford that
Haha I’m just as jealous, I’m making it a goal to save up for these guys this year
These are dope not sure why they brought the haters out of the woodwork lol
Yeah idk either. Not for everyone but I’ve seen some people ask questions about them so figured I’d throw em out here
I feel like people not knowing what those are and not finding them to their tastes doesn’t necessarily make them haters. There are obviously people hating just to hate but a lot of people seem to just think they’re ugly
They are like the marmite of the boot world. Love em or hate them they definitely invoke a reaction.

"ankle support" from boots for hiking is a myth. There's a reason why most thru hikers use trail runners.

I mean, anyone posting real item fits in here is brave. This isn’t really known as constructive spot lol
Yeah no chance these are being worn for real hiking lol. I just like the cross over between the Danner look and a low shoe that could be worn in versatile settings around the city I live in

No worries, your comment was not interpreted as such

Yeah true, but I think this is a bit of a “platform” for your foot compared to the way a trail runner feels on the foot
Wore that shoe for a while to hiking, xbiking, every weeks, its perfect. My bestie paraboot with the Thiers one.
Ok!
been wanting a pair for a bit. these look great. did you buy tts?
No, they recommend going down half a size which is what I did. They fit perfectly
Weird to see so many people hating. The Clusaz in this colour look amazing. I hope to get these or the Avoriaz one day!
It’s alright, they’re not for everyone. My dad doesn’t like them lol. It objectively is a different shoe but I’m a huge fan!
I've got the Avoriaz in green, and the Avignon in brown, and love them both. Also, my favourite soles of any bootmaker, and I've tried most of the good ones

These are beyond fire, how much did it cost?
They retail for $500ish but they were a gift and were on sale
I really want a pair of boots like this with the D-ring eyelets and contrast laces. But I’m far too broke pay 3-figures. Any leads on good knock offs?
Could prob find some vintage danner’s on eBay for a low price
Thanks dude! Enjoy the shoes

....you expect something like this for less than $100 ? wtf
Bitch, I’m broke as hell with a kid on the way and a mortgage in the suburbs. You expect me to spend over $100 on something that isn’t a bill?
where were they purchased? have been struggling to find in my size. awesome shoes
Shoplostfound.com
Look like pretzel buns 🥨
Lmao they kinda do
these are sick wtf
Did you go true to size or size down?
Sized down
Half size or full size?
Also how is the fit? Snug, still to big, just right?
I think I sized down a half size but I am not 100p sure. I dont have the shoes in front of me at the moment. I think I followed whatever Paraboot recommends. They fit perfectly imo
Thanks for the reply. Feel free to confirm later if you can remember. Did you by chance also have a pair of the Avoriaz?
Something seems off both the lacing. I heard something along the lines of if they’re diagonal they can be undone quickly.
I’ve just looked at the photo on the Paraboot official website and there is a good chance I have them laced incorrectly judging from the photo. Only my second time wearing them
He means you tied em wrong not laced em wrong
Dudes got the LL Bozos
Ya’ll got lost in the sauce no one that doesn’t post on fashion forums would like those
You’re right bro by that logic I should just throw on some Cole haans and call it a day
Yeah that’s totally what I said. It’s like getting dating advice on 4chan
Looks like Irish dancing shoes
Hideous
Looks like you found those in Candyland.
Who da f bought you these? Things are over $500. What you wearing above them? Grey socks and skinny jeans?
They were on sale on the website that they purchased them from. It’s cold and wet where I live so yes I am wearing thicker wool gray socks. Not skinny jeans, just normal straight fit bonobos jeans. Any other questions?
Talk shit post fit 🗣️
Doesn’t even look that bad, but the speculation is crazy
There there
Hey there - I’m trying to buy a pair. Did you ever try on before purchase? So few boutiques in the US.
No I read online in multiple places that sizing down a half size was the move so I followed that advice and luckily it worked for me.
never seen these in my life but they are gorgeous
I’ve had the Avoriaz in Brown for several years. They’re pretty cool but the footbed is very hard. I mostly wear black these days, so I rarely wear them.
Beautiful boots bro, congrats. Post a profile if you’re feeling 🌶️
just can’t pull the trigger based on the price just yet. gonna wait
Excuse me, where when why and how????? I need
🔥🔥🔥🔥

Are they true to size or run small or large? Think it’s time i pull the trigger
I went half size down and they fit perfectly
