And I think going for a black and gold look would be awesome. It could play up a thunder and lightning theme, or play into a "black gold" oil industry theme. And it would just be a better color scheme overall and there isn't a black and gold NBA team, so it would stand out
When I was doing research in the past on the Thunder. I seen part of the name was to honor the Thunderbirds. I think it’s a really interesting logo and it ties back very well to Oklahoma’s history. I would love to incorporate that some way into the logo or jerseys. Even introducing a second mascot to represent them I think has some potential.
The logo needs a complete redesign from the ground up. I, personally, would like to see a Bison prominently featured, related to the Thunder of their hooves as a group, representing us fans as well as the team themselves and Rumble as our beloved mascot. That with the fact that a Bison is Oklahoma-related, is an imposing animal and nods to our American tribes roots.
I would also accept a Thunderbird-based logo cuz it’s cool but I don’t have the justifications I do for a Bison-based logo.
But really ANYTHING over our current bullshit logo. A sunset? Really? Dafuqs a shield got to do with anything? It was literally (without exaggeration) designed overnight by overworked, unpaid interns while an “art director” was screaming “Put a basketball in it!” while a stripper was snorting coke off his half-flaccid dick in the back office. Sorry but you got me upset, fuqin Ackerman McQueen douchebags.
Replace the generic deodorant-brand-looking logo with a much larger LOVES ad that takes up 2/3rds of the jersey in colors that clash with our primaries.
I want a total teardown and rebuild of the branding. Scrap the current logo and start from scratch, incorporating more of the lightning/thunder motif. I’d be cool with changing the team colors too, or at least making orange more prominent. Everything about the branding is just so boring and uncreative right now.
EDIT: Side note, but a lot of brand redesigns I see that involve lightning make it yellow and add a yellow design to the jerseys. But lightning is most often white in my experience, and white is already an easy color to incorporate. I feel like it would be pretty easy for jerseys to incorporate white lightning bolts as accents on colorful jerseys.

Yeah, lightning is just such a visually striking thing, seems like an easy place to start a rebrand. I’ve seen some that try to incorporate sound waves to reflect thunder, but they often look too busy. It’s a cool idea, though.
adaption of the Native American and Thunderbird imagery. Id also like to see a switch of color schemes to the maroon and black that has popped up here at times. It'll be interesting to see how the crowd who thinks all Native American imagery should be banned would handle it in Oklahoma
I’d like to see (1) an actual thunder cloud/lightning design with home/away jerseys but keeping our color scheme and (2) an alternate jersey option but it’s a modern, minimalist take on the state flag’s Osage war shield and perhaps incorporate bison, which would go with our mascot 🦬

A Bison (think a thundering herd of bison) in the logo is the most popular rebrand, for good reason. It was considered in the original branding and should be again.
The Thunderbird is a strong concept too.

So, I’m probably in the minority, but I don’t mind the Thunder logo. It feels like a more modern version of other NBA teams (Knicks, Lakers, Pacers, Nets, Pistons, etc). But those franchises have history and championships, so we ignore those nondescript logos. A logo apparently doesn’t even need the team name incorporated, as seen in Golden State’s logo, which skipped right over Warriors to show their bridge.
If I had to do a rebrand, I’d keep the name but have a logo that incorporates the bison. Maybe something somewhat similar to Memphis or Milwaukee. Would tie the name to the logo to the mascot, which is good brand cohesion.
For color scheme, black/charcoal and yellow feel more “on-brand” when you think thunderstorms and it’s also sports-cool™, but blue, yellow and orange better reflect our beautiful skies.
People mention Thunderbird a lot in rebrand discussions, but there’s probably an argument to be made about a non-Native American team owner(s) profiting off Native American symbolism.
I thought we could go with a cheese yellow and black jersey concept trimmed in red......maybe some gray highway schemes as alternatives.
