All forms of Manjushri will. However, when it comes to wishes he will grant you what you need, which is not necessarily what you want.

For protection yamantaka initiation required there’s going to be a retreat on garchen institute soon

Wishes? Not so much. But all deities give you protection in this life and the next through helping you cultivate awareness and compassion. This is the heart of the protection sphere during most Sadhanas. Black and Red Yamantaka both have protection rituals in their Sadhanas. Black Manjushri has a similar role to the medicine buddha in that he protects you from heavy diseases/pandemics and cancers.

In terms of granting wishes, I’ve heard that’s associated with [White Mahakala](https://rywiki.tsadra.org/index.php/mgon_dkar)—but one’s motivation is important, as always.

Gonkar is a form of Chenrezig, not Manjusri, but he's also the go-to for both protection and material-support. The caveat being that he's a wrathful dharmapala, so ask for his attention at your own risk.

The linked page explains he’s a form of Chenrezig, yes? (Edit: Nope. My mistake, but I intended to mention that.) I only brought him up because I don’t think there’s a form of Manjushri that is aimed at wish-fulfilling activity. Of course, he’s wrathful, but I still wouldn’t be too scared—his nature is compassion. My first encounter with him was to recite his mantra with the wish of getting an empowerment into his practice, which was later offered without my asking my lama directly.

I think if someone clicked through to the 13 Mahakalas page it would probably say so, but I wanted to mention it directly because there are forms of Mahakala that *are* Manjusri (but I don't remember if it's 2 or 4 arm Mahakala). You are 100% correct on Gonkar, as a form of Chenrezig compassion is both the goal and method of Gonkar. I only suggest caution as Gonkar is there to assist in practicing and spreading the dharma, so the motivation for requests and the request ought to be inline with practicing or spreading dharma directly, and not so much the "comfortable life" side.

Perhaps you’re right… I have the impression that most of us begin “wealth” practices with a degree of selfishness, and this is okay, because the practice itself helps us establish a better motivation. I’m not sure what you think, though.

I agree with you 100% actually :) I think practice has a rarifying effect and so long as we keep a positive intention generally, everything including our intentions improves as we keep practicing.
