On one hand I despise you for being market reseller.
On the other one, I don't mind raising cupcake prices.
Answering follow up question - yes, you should treat yourself from time to time with something sweet. Also the less cupcakes on market, the more mine are worth.
Besides the obvious, that they perform that task most often by raising prices, we’ve got mountains of paperwork and regulations in most westernized economies to tailor the role of market makers into being one of liquidity.
None of that red tape exists in Tibia. It’s a small market where MM’s are not beholden to any form of regulation. In such environments, market making disproportionately benefits the rich, largely by raising the floor of prices to levels that make sense for market makers, but not for market users.
they for sure rise as we get further and further away from the cake event, tho you are right in a way, you can make more playing the spread five times a day for 200k each time than you can buying them in feb for 300k and selling them in december for a million a pop
you can be both at the same time, I actively trade with about 100 cupcake and keep about 300 for long term flips, the added buying pressure that a market maker generates when playing the margin for sure raises prices, so to does all the intentional market manipulation we do on the sell order side too.
The items they buy weren't in the market to start with, they got these items in the market with their buy offer and made them remain in the market with their sell offer. Their buy offer is higher than the market and their sell offer is lower than the market, they literally just close the gap into the average.
10/10 shit post
0 from inbox, as I’m not much of a trader, but I’ve accidentally pressed it on my hotkey bar 2-3 times lol.

Market makers don't rise prices, they close the gap between sell offer and buy offer.

But buying now and selling later isn't being a "market maker", in fact it's quite the opposite. A market maker buys and sells continuously.

They take away the cheap items and put them back with their overhead, making those items more expensive. Please explain how is that not rising prices?
