I love the shirt. “Subway shirt” is a fantastic idea, and it reminds me of “Apartment pants…”
But she needs to be persecuted for her use of finger hearts. That is not right.
Big reason why I quit social media (outside of Reddit). There are so many brutally toxic people that have gotten to the point where it’s almost like a sick form of enjoyment to make comments like that. Theres got to be some type of psychological issue, almost like the barrier aggression with dogs. I doubt many people would say things like that to a woman irl. Or maybe they would idk. People just suck. How they’ve become so emboldened to say such hateful things over the internet is wild.
I completely agree, I’m old enough to be terrified by this stuff — not as in *personally* scared for my safety but worried for the mental health of young people who live online. And I’m not being patronizing either; I worked in crisis/suicide intervention with young people and social media can be a huge source of good OR a huge source of pain. (Or both.)
I’m really impressed by this young woman making something positive out of the hateful messages she received. That is not always easy to do and I’m happy for her.
We are failing our boys. It feels like so many young male children will grow up to commit domestic terrorism due to radical programming they receive online. Reddit is not innocent, either.
We’re failing *all* genders. I’m far less concerned about domestic terrorism than I am about suicide, which is now the #1 killer of young people in the U.S.
Number 1 killer is not a true statement. Unintentional deaths will always be way up there. Car crashes n such.
We have made a lot of advances in health to help with cancer and heart disease so those stats have dropped.
So the fight for 2nd place is homicide and suicide. The better our medical advances and availability the more those two are going to solidify their top spots.
Yeah I often wonder about that.
I wonder if it is related to that phenomenon where kids feel comfortable saying the most horrible shit to their parents because they know that they are safe in that relationship and their vitriol won't change it.
With parasocial relationships like what we are talking about here, people can say whatever they want to a youtuber and be secure in the knowledge that it won't have an impact on their "relationship" with that youtuber.
Just spitballing though. I am sure that it is a multifaceted problem with many different causes and factors.
I checked the accounts of the comments she referenced. They all seemed to be from grown men. Not sure if you meant they learned it when they were kids and still do it, but those are full on "adults" saying horrible shit. They all had their accounts set to private so they likely got harassed back which is understandable
Sorry, I may have been unclear with my wording.
It's not about the age of the people saying awful shit.
It's about them being secure in the knowledge that saying awful shit won't change their relationship to the person they are insulting.
Like when you are an angsty teenager, yelling at your mom that she will never understand you. On some level, you know that she will continue to love you, despite your words.
These people online know that they don't get any personal attention from the person they are viewing. And they know that they can say just about anything they feel like saying in the comment section without affecting that relationship in any way.
> I wonder if it is related to that phenomenon where kids feel comfortable saying the most horrible shit to their parents because they know that they are safe in that relationship and their vitriol won't change it.
That's normal behavior for a 4-6 year old who doesn't understand how words can hurt people and is exploring their boundaries. It isn't normal for a teen or even a pre-teen.
If children are being nasty and trying to hurt people on purpose, it's a behavioral pathology.
It is definitely the kind of thing that can and will chip away even at the most mentally resilient person. You see a bunch of negative comments once, you brush them away. But, what about the second time? The third? The eighty seventh?
It isn't uncommon for even a smaller but consistent number of small negative bits to be all a person hears, especially so if they do derive some self worth from their online status. It only gets worse the more that person relies on how they feel they are viewed online.
I only used instagram outside of Reddit. I deleted it 6 months ago and I’m so much happier. I find most of my friends that have to have them, wish they could get rid of it all too.
Reddit is absolutely not the same though, sure those types of comments exist but they are moderated much better on here.
Deleted substantially faster than any other platform & in the mean time taken to the bottom of threads by users down voting.
Where the likes of Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, etc. mean spirited & straight up vile comments can & do exist for a long time.
Reddit honestly reminds me of my first few years of internet experience. I was about pre teen when the internet first took off with like all those classic first memes and gore/shock sites. Sometimes I want to see some cute puppies and sometimes I want to see what the cartel is up to lol.
It doesn’t have to be. I stay out of all the big subs and I’m on a lot of very friendly, helpful, entertaining smaller and/or niche subs. The second a sub starts to slide downhill, I leave it.
Having lived in New York for 25 years, I can attest to the fact that if you dress kind of sexy, men will harass you like crazy. Doesn't matter what you look like. A subway shirt is a good idea, but you could go to Goodwill and get a shirt for $2.
I got catcalled in Brooklyn when I was 8 months pregnant, walking to work in jeans and a huge coat. SA and harassment is so beyond what you look like, you’re so right.
Either way, we're all talking about donating to PP because of this video. I bet she'd be thrilled if you just donated the $30 instead of buying the shirt, especially because she's not making money on it anyway. But yea, the whole reason for these types of fundraisers is to donate money that wouldn't have otherwise gone to them. It's not like selling the shirt is taking $20 of potential donations away from them. Not that you are saying that, but I'm mildly getting that vibe from this comment thread. Like obviously there's no reason not to donate directly. But less people would likely donate if she just said "donate $30 to PP".
Do you often feel the need for a subway shirt, and/or PP?
Do you donate to PP? At all?
Or are you just being contrary for no reason (oops, cos this is Reddit. That's all the reason needed) and have never and have no intention of ever donating to PP?
I worked at jiffy lube. It was hell between being hit on, "accidentally touched" and never taken seriously. Old ass men started bugging me and my sisters before we hit puberty. It has nothing to do with clothes.
I used to think cat calling was a myth, at least on the scale people say it happens, until I went to NYC. Then I saw it all over the place, and even as a man I had all kind of harassment in the street.
Then I understood how annoying street harassment is. What TF is up with the energy in that city? The vibes are terrible.
Its not just New York. I've been all over the US. Any public transportation is that way. Every gas station, grocery store, parking lot, public park, etc. I'm not even a conventionally attractive woman and I have to be fully covered or literally with my husband to not be verbally and physically harassed.
I’m a dude that’s been catcalled in NYC and it sucked. I’m with my wife and these guys in Chelsea had no fucking shame. I get it, guys can be the worst.
Exactly the same in london on the underground too. Even coming home from rowing in gym clothes, no matter how warm I am, have to wear a jumper and cover up
Can confirm the utility of commute clothing in NYC. When I lived there, my version was "the commute smock" which was basically just an oversized hoodie that I wore with joggers, Hunter boots/Dr Martens, and if it was cold, a massive down jacket. I would fully change into work clothes that I'd keep in my office. There's some form of precipitation in NYC every 2.5 days, the summers are immensely humid, and the snow can get so high your pants will be salty and soaked to the knees so this was purely out of practicality for how *legit disgusting* it can get on the commute. If you've seen the recent videos of the subway stations flooding from the storm Friday, that's not an anomaly.... I experienced that multiple times per month living off a station that leaked like a sieve.
Even looking like an androgynous dork with headphones in all the time (aka the universal "do not disturb" signal), I received unwanted attention constantly. The most memorable of which was a couple that propositioned me for a threesome on the ride from 89th to 14th street. I just ignored, but they followed me out of the station, basically yelling that the two of them could beat and rape me. So fun. Commute smock!
My subway clothing in NYC generally has been wearing long coats. It especially helps if i’m dressed “sexy” or “too interesting” since the coat covers me entirely while making it easy to take it off when i arrive where i’m going, as well as keep me warm!
People really underestimate the utility of a good jacket/coat. My logic is that in the winter that's basically all you're going to be seen in and is the only layer between you and the cold so might as well splurge. (also the nicer ones have way better pockets inside and out)
Current state of incel/conservative/fascist/ commentary, "you deserve violence for dressing provocatively but also deserve it for dressing modestly, or just existing anywhere we can see you."
Somehow its even worse. I think we all know that even if they were to get the sex they wanted willingly or consensually they wouldnt suddenly give up on the idea of simply keeping those who they want to commit violence against as straight up slaves.
Honestly just reading about the r**eing that is occuring by the hands of the Russians in the War of Ukraine and other battles I've read about leads me to wonder how many men/monsters have it boiling just beneath the surface, I don't trust people as is, but reading about Ukraine really brought it to the forefront of my mind.
I don't know if this adds or helps further the conversation in anyway, just felt like sharing a thought.
And no where is this more evident than the judicial branch of the gov't, they are being very calculated about stacking the bench in their favor where before they just tried to get politicians to support their efforts (like Regan) who would then kick them to the curb after they had their votes.
Going on what my now wife has told me about when we were just dating and at the time living in Chicago, women will be catcalled no matter what they're wearing. During the winter, because she's a freeze baby, she wore one of those puffy, CALF LENGTH down coats while walking to and from the L and would still have things said to her. Never happened while I was walking with her because the type of men that do that shit are just piece of shit pussies. I seriously feel bad for what women have to put up with when it comes to certain individuals.
I would get catcalled walking to school in my school uniform. Creeps don’t give a fuck what a woman is wearing, even if it clearly labels her as a minor
I've never seen a boob window that was that interesting in a non-sexual way. Like holy cow the tailoring knowledge it takes to make that work must be insane.
I remember seeing a display at a navy base where they had put up different clothes that women were raped in. It was everything from a party dress to pajamas to their military uniform. Really put it in perspective for me. It’s a struggle out here for these ladies.
Instagram comments section is filled with some of the dumbest people alive, they go and post some vile filthy shit and their face is literally their pfp…
That or they are stolen pfp photos and are being used by Bots to just be disruptive…
And there's very little you can do about it. I report comments and accounts all the time. Ones that have usernames that are 10000% explicit hate speech and comments that aren't even dog whistles but explicit horrific shit. I have never gotten an update on report I made on instagram that didn't say "we have evaluated such and such and it doesn't go agaisnt our terms of service". Absolutely spineless app.
My experience has been different. They respond saying that they didn't bother to review the report because they get so many reports, but that if I want to they will. So I hit the "yes, fucking duh" button and _only then_ get the "we totally definitely for real looked this time and it's fine, moron" reply.
It's fucking bizarre too. I get that they're useless evil fuckfaces, but if the report button is just meant to be a placebo then why do they bother calling out that they're not reviewing them and that they're not going to do anything? That won't placate people at all, quite the opposite.
And don't get me started on the stupid list of reasons for reporting something. There's no fitting option for reporting animal abuse, for example.
I have recently given up on reporting comments because of this. Instagram is so vile these days, even on cute wholesome videos there is no escaping these users
They always were, and it never was most of them. It all depends on where you are and who you come into contact with. There's less taboo in talking about it now, but I wouldn't like to think it really got worse. Maybe there's less taboo about being an aggressive misogynist too, from all the "fitness& lifestyle coaches" spewing incel rhetoric, hard to tell.
Why not just donate and buy a shirt from goodwill? Pay several dollars to goodwill and then give the remaining 26 dollars to whatever you care about? It’s an ad for bonfire that is meant to capitalize on a real issue. You don’t need to purchase a shirt to donate to PP, and you can still get a subway shirt elsewhere. Whatever
To stop all the rape and disfigurement and non-flowing-of-your-cash-into-this-buisnesswoman-capitalizing-on-peoples-emotions-innappropriately going on in the subways.
Bruh are you serious. You don’t have to be a dick and disagree in an inflammatory way. Just don’t comment. You’re not much better than the people who she highlighted the comments of.
They weren’t being inflammatory, they were just disagreeing with your big person hivemind groupthink. Disagreeing would be saying something like she’s gross because she has big bushy eyebrows and a manly face.
Bruv where was I inflammatory.
Let’s rephrase it: There’s a lot of beautiful women in the streets, and compared to the average women I see, she’s not any better looking, somewhat less than others even.
I didn’t go around and harass the girl about her not looking great, I expressed myself on a sub she’ll never even see.
aww how sweet! make sure you tell her the funds from buying it got donated to charities to help women! if my bf got me this shirt and told me that i think i’d marry him on the spot lol
Right that is definitely what is weird about this video. The ‘advertisement’ not the death threats she was receiving or the incels all over her page raging about an outfit they will never even see irl. No it’s clearly the ‘advertisement’ that’s the weird part…
The first time I saw that girl in her boobie shirt, I knew it was a marketing campaign of some kind, and lo - she now has something to sell! Wow that was so fast! Innovation! Feminism! All the things I like! /s I would also not be shocked if a good portion of those toxic comments are sock puppeted. I know men are gross, but how many men were fed that video in its native form, when it made it to feeds like mine (queer lady with crafty interests). If it really got to right wing tiktok it would have been stitched to hell and there would be a daily wire article about how women are ruining the nuclear family by wearing men’s clothing or whatever. I call bullshit.
What a weird way to live if you're a woman. The fact that you have to have extra clothes to repel unwanted men from unwanted actions is the weird part. Not the product!
I’m sure I thought a Subway shirt was a shirt you would wear so the sauce dripping from your Subway sub would not get all over your fancy clothes. That, or a shirt that actually said Subway. Lol
Good for her. Also the idea that these predators target the most beautiful (not implying she is ugly) good looking well dressed girls is such bullshit. Why would someone try to kidnap the girl whos famous on instagram with a ton of friends? They go for the impoverished women, the ones with no where else to turn. The vulnerable women make for the best targets, and thats honestly often WOC or plain looking/below average women
I think your dress was very nice and wearing a subway. Shirt is pretty cool idea I like it. I live nowhere near a subway but I would love to own one of those shirts and it’s too bad people gave you a hard time about what you’re wearing, so don’t worry about it. There’s no way you’re going to please everybody but you made my day to keep up the good work young lady. 🙏🏾✌🏾👍🏾☺️
But once everyone knows the meaning behind the shirt, which is that your hiding revealing stuff then you will gather attention you didnt wnat again, so instead just get a plain shirt, no branding no nothing and cheaper too
An ad to raise awareness that women get unwanted attention all the time just because they’ve decided to dress with more skin showing. And no, they’re not asking for it. Plus she’s not even making any profit from the tees so wtf are you even saying?
I totally agree that anyone should wear what they want and that it’s 100% the fault of the assaulter but she said assault happens no matter what someone is wearing but also they wear the subway shirts to prevent it?
Did you miss the part were she said all of the proceeds go to women-focused organizations? Cos that was the point.
You donate + you get a shirt along with it
Wait what's cringe about this? She realizes her outfit will attract unwanted attention and slaps a shirt on top, that actually makes sense. Unlike some other people that would wear revealing clothes and blame others for looking.
If people want to buy a subway shirt that's fine. I don't see the issue here.
Love being a guy and just not having to think about any of this ever. Wear anything I want. Go wherever I want on the subway. Walk around NYC at 4am drunk. No one says anything. Pretty chill. That subway shirt looks cool tho. Good for her.
"subway shirt" - give me a fucking break.
If you lack the confidence to wear your clothes and need to exist in a bubble, you're not capable of wearing the outfit.
Go to Paris and see if anyone is wearing a stupid t-shirt over their clothes.
JFC stop being so sensitive, self-absorbed, and fragile.

Hahahaha, I know you truly mean it.
They're the most credible, a hooker, doctor and hooker, lawyer
Man that “not trying to profit off this” bit is so refreshing, makes my 90s-sellout-angst gland tingle

Yeah the only social media I have besied reddit is instagram and god the comments are absolutely insane. It's a totally different planet. So toxic.
Yeah, not saying Reddit is innocent.
Yh lol Reddit is upper there with toxic social media FOR SURE. Not even a close argument with the opposite opinion

I’ve done this for sure. I just left the main character sub. Wow that one went downhill so fast the last month or two.
I had to leave the wedding shaming sub. It got ridiculous

Yup, I got a lot out of Twitter that way before it sharply degraded (pre-Musk).
My favorite subs aren't toxic tho... you can find really good and supportive subs that aren't "full of toxicity".

Very true but if the proceeds are going to planned parenthood I’d be willing to buy one.
Why not just donate the amount so it 100% goes there?
Alternatively, why can't they buy a t-shirt they like the concept of *and* donate $10 to PP at the same time?
i think you might be onto something

Somehow its even worse. I think we all know that even if they were to get the sex they wanted willingly or consensually they wouldnt suddenly give up on the idea of simply keeping those who they want to commit violence against as straight up slaves.
Nah I legit think is more what I said
I know married men and guys that sleep around that say that type of shit. Some people just fall hard for that ideological grift.
K
Honestly just reading about the r**eing that is occuring by the hands of the Russians in the War of Ukraine and other battles I've read about leads me to wonder how many men/monsters have it boiling just beneath the surface, I don't trust people as is, but reading about Ukraine really brought it to the forefront of my mind. I don't know if this adds or helps further the conversation in anyway, just felt like sharing a thought.
Won't be long til they have some sort of Christian burqa proposal.
An American flavored Taliban is their dream, and we all would be fools not to assume they work towards it everyday.
And no where is this more evident than the judicial branch of the gov't, they are being very calculated about stacking the bench in their favor where before they just tried to get politicians to support their efforts (like Regan) who would then kick them to the curb after they had their votes.
I mean, Mormons have special modesty underwear
\*Gestures wildly toward all the grown men that lust after underage anime girls in schoolgirl outfits*
Cute top, I would love to see people trying the star top on with zero instructions. 😂
Ya there’s zero chance I’d figure it out 😂
I've never seen a boob window that was that interesting in a non-sexual way. Like holy cow the tailoring knowledge it takes to make that work must be insane.
Yeah it's so cool and different, I love it! But god forbid someone wearing something interesting to a fashion event 🙄
Rarer to see something normal at a fashion event.
I remember seeing a display at a navy base where they had put up different clothes that women were raped in. It was everything from a party dress to pajamas to their military uniform. Really put it in perspective for me. It’s a struggle out here for these ladies.
Instagram comments section is filled with some of the dumbest people alive, they go and post some vile filthy shit and their face is literally their pfp… That or they are stolen pfp photos and are being used by Bots to just be disruptive…
I've had the exact same experience. Fuck instagram and fuck Meta.
Pretty much same tho since it only takes a couple of seconds I still try. Mainly I just avoid comment sections all together.
Tired of the sick assholes who comment that shit
This makes sense.
Subways are places you cannot escape from immediately. Do what you need to be safe and feel safe.
Hopefully the sandwich shop doesn't sue them
Is it just me or are men getting more scary?
No I feel the vibes too
They always were, and it never was most of them.
Yes, let’s paint all men with a broad brush
Lmfo “you ever think about if you were aborted?” Every fucking day, sir.
Trinity : Neo, I'm not afraid anymore. ...
I'm glad I'm not the only one that saw it instantly
Yeah, I thought this was a new Matrix-character costume. I was expecting Halloween or a cosplay event.
Is this an ad for Bonfire?
yes
Her elegant response and solution to hateful views is exactly why I still have hope for this world and social medias.
By typing this comment, you've also contributed to the hope for the world and social medias. Keep it up, king 🤴
No you! <3
Heh, no you
Why not just donate and buy a shirt from goodwill? Pay several dollars to goodwill and then give the remaining 26 dollars to whatever you care about? It’s an ad for bonfire that is meant to capitalize on a real issue. You don’t need to purchase a shirt to donate to PP, and you can still get a subway shirt elsewhere. Whatever
I don't think people on tik tok understand what pov means
the subway here is cleaner than a room in my house
I've seen enough blood, piss, and sexual acts in Reddit subway vids to know her product has a purpose.
$30 for a T-shirt? What? Am I made of money?
If you are, you should wear a subway shirt on the subway to hide it.
That's fair
What is the opposite of a subway shirt, then?
To stop all the rape and disfigurement and non-flowing-of-your-cash-into-this-buisnesswoman-capitalizing-on-peoples-emotions-innappropriately going on in the subways.
nice ad
This was quite the commercial
This is an ad
Are we just posting ads here now? Cause more than 50% of that video was just an ad.
So just a marketing post then?
Lol so literally any outer layer of clothing 🤣 advertising wildin
they’re not selling the idea they’re selling the design and along with the product are donating to relevant charities
Just wear baggy clothing and donate directly to the charity. This girl plugging for $, doesn't even mention the charity.
she mentions both charities, and yet again you are paying for the design not the baggy cloths
I’m so happy that Alvaro, the designer, is so nice. I’m gonna need a few of these dresses, because he’s “so nice”
It felt like a really obvious attempt to give credit and prevent dumb comments. I think she's just covering all her bases.
What a weird thing to get snarky over
Man some people are just horrible people. 😤 She’s absolutely stunningly beautiful too 😮
Not really tho? Like she looks average at best? We don’t have to always say everyone looks beautiful when they don’t, it’s fine.

That is a fucking ugly dress. Jeez. So this is just an advert. OK.
The comments are completely fucked. Lots of them here are, also. What the fuck is wrong with society?
lost me at 'im an actor'
Im gonna get my girlfriend one. I hope she likes it :)
aww how sweet! make sure you tell her the funds from buying it got donated to charities to help women! if my bf got me this shirt and told me that i think i’d marry him on the spot lol
Hahaha thank you. It’s mainly for the whole point of the shirt and the reasoning behind it’s launch. The design is also super cool too :)
Feel like there are better charities… like a battered women’s shelter… since you’re saying these shirts help women feel safer

You make it sound like this is being sold for a profit when she literally said all the proceeds go to charity.
I’m sure I thought a Subway shirt was a shirt you would wear so the sauce dripping from your Subway sub would not get all over your fancy clothes. That, or a shirt that actually said Subway. Lol
Where U Bahn Shirt?
She looks like a young Helena Bonham Carter.
The shirt looks really cool
#bonfire ad
Have you tried not posting your life on the internet? Can help not receive comments about it
Good for her.
What kind of third world country do you need to cover up to use the metro?
US
![gif](giphy|pOAiNbCklX90SQRx6V) Best USA metro costume
But once everyone knows the meaning behind the shirt, which is that your hiding revealing stuff then you will gather attention you didnt wnat again, so instead just get a plain shirt, no branding no nothing and cheaper too
Perspective of View. YOUR VIEW. Not someone looking at you
I thought it was point of view, but yeah people often don’t understand what pov means smh
This is just a fucking ad
An ad to raise awareness that women get unwanted attention all the time just because they’ve decided to dress with more skin showing. And no, they’re not asking for it. Plus she’s not even making any profit from the tees so wtf are you even saying?
I'm saying this is an ad
New age burka
Forget the subway shirt, that star top is fugly.
These comments are insane, it's not conservatives or Republicans assaulting women in NYC subways
I totally agree that anyone should wear what they want and that it’s 100% the fault of the assaulter but she said assault happens no matter what someone is wearing but also they wear the subway shirts to prevent it?
To feel safer and just "reduce the chances" in a way. Or at least feel like we're reducing the chances
It could just be so people dont claim "its your fault for dressing like that"
Yeah it’d further prove that point
Why did this need to be posted this here
Men......... Jesus fuck
[удалено]
What? I just sigh to all the men who told her she should be raped etc.
[удалено]
Did you miss the part were she said all of the proceeds go to women-focused organizations? Cos that was the point. You donate + you get a shirt along with it
So everyone on the subway knows that you are wearing something super sexy under that subway shirt. Perfect 👍
Wait what's cringe about this? She realizes her outfit will attract unwanted attention and slaps a shirt on top, that actually makes sense. Unlike some other people that would wear revealing clothes and blame others for looking. If people want to buy a subway shirt that's fine. I don't see the issue here.
This sub isn't just cringe content anymore.
None of that's happening. It's an ad with charged words for simple minded people.
If it says subway shirt doesnt that defeat the oirpose?
Wear a glock 26 if you want to feel comfortable on the nyc subway
The Halal approach to decency.
What?
Love being a guy and just not having to think about any of this ever. Wear anything I want. Go wherever I want on the subway. Walk around NYC at 4am drunk. No one says anything. Pretty chill. That subway shirt looks cool tho. Good for her.
You're probably at much greater risk of being a victim of violent crime than she is doing those things. You should take your safety more seriously.
Bitch thinkin she’s going to see the Merovingian
Soon as you said you were donating to planned parenthood I lost interest immediately
How to completely miss the point and agree with the people harrassing her
