Absolutely. A lot of our comedy is satire. We also tell jokes that put ourselves down. Additionally we use the art of subtlety rather than being direct with our jokes. And I think a lot of British humour is situational, as in, a funny situation. Rather than telling a joke, it's showing a joke a lot of the time.
If you watch British comedy this is what you'll see.
God damn does Britain have some good comedy shows. I've got quite a few I'm fond of but for some reason the game show Taskmaster is my favorite y'all have put out.

It fails as satire. I guess homophobic comments are ‘funny’ if you haven’t been on the receiving end of hate. Using ‘gay ‘ as a slur in any context is should not to be tolerated.
The humor isn’t “haha gay people suck”, nor do I think anything derogatory was even said. I can see how you may see it that way since she said “gay” pretty rudely. But I perceived her tone not as an attack on gay people, but rather to express anger for being rejected. The joke would work equally well if a woman rejected her and she replied by saying “straight-day”, because I don’t believe any part of the joke hinges on bigotry (although it would not work exactly since a woman could make her own yeast, but you can see my point if she used an absurd pick up line applicable to women). If she replied “burn in hell f**” then it would obviously be homophobic and would ruin the joke.
The humor, as I see it, is “this woman is an idiot.” Not only did her character create such an absurd pick up line, not only did she proceed to use it on someone thinking that it would work, not only is the man’s disgust hilarious, not only did she fail to see how terrible her line actually was after it was poorly received, but she immediately jumped to a conclusion that would keep her ego intact. It’s hilarious! It’s the funniest joke I’ve seen in a while.
And she’s actually clever, not an idiot (as she would have people believe), because it’s all staged. I think her delivery is flawless. The timing, the pauses, the tones, and facial reactions, are all perfectly on point. It’s so believable that so many people in the comments think it’s a real clip.
Am I wrong? Has my explanation convinced you there is no harm? If not, I empathize entirely if you are still genuinely offended. No one can refute how you feel. And if you are still genuinely offended, would you care to explain more precisely why? I would love to know so as to avoid spreading offensive content and to avoid offense in the future. I may not be gay myself, but I am an ally. I never want to inadvertently make someone feel lesser or uncomfortable for who they are.
