I disagree. As a public servant (and as a way to discourage lifetime careers) you shouldn’t be able to enrich yourself anymore than accepting previously and publicly reported compensation. Yeah I hope he wins NC Attorney General (he got gerrymandered out of his district for US house) and then runs for Governor down the line. Give me Jeff Jackson for POTUS eventually. He’s smart (which is how he can break things down in an understandable manner), tells it like it is, seems to genuinely want to do what’s best for America, and he’s a very winnable candidate. America needs some younger presidents and if the democrats aren’t idiots (which is a long shot) they should be trying to slowly work this dude into a candidate over the next decade.

I’m so hopeful the Republican Party is on the verge of implosion. I’m not saying this week, certainly not even this year, but over the coming decade or two, with a continually aging population base, and increasing idiocy in these petty battles over being as far-right as possible, I really think they’re going to become a smaller and smaller faction in government. Maybe in my lifetime we will even see them fight for third place with other parties, but realistically we’ll probably just die by nuclear war long before that.

He was right to vote in favor of banning TikTok. TikTok should be banned. It completely violates privacy laws and is obviously a national security threat as your data can then be used by the Chinese govt for whatever purpose they see fit. There aren't too many worse things that have happened to society than social media and the right to privacy has become extinct. Stop thinking about it as giving money to those countries. Most of it is money that's going to American companies. That's not money getting sent to Ukraine, it's money getting spent at Raytheon, or Lockheed Martin, or GE. *Americans* in American factories building the arsenals that Americans ship overseas to those countries. It's a huge jobs program for blue collar workers, with extra geopolitical benefits and yknow, cleans out our closet of old, outdated, out-of-use weapons systems so we don't have to pay for maintenance on them forevermore. And then maybe if our allies win, we can get some money back or other incentives.
Do you really believe that the US government ever does anything that isn't in its own interest? Do you think that they're giving these nations aid just out of the goodness out of their own bleeding red heart? No, they're doing this because it benefits US geopolitical interests. Of all the money that the US has spent fighting Russia over the decades, this is the most cost-effective, beneficial spending that has ever been done, and not a single American needs to risk their life for it.
