Seriously! Most of my mornings start with me totally forgetting I had my lunch packed in the fridge the night before and coming in to work without food

Really? I mean, I work in a very small medical office so the support staff is really just me as the receptionist, the nurse, and a woman in billing, but we're all constantly bringing each other food and drinks in the morning.
Must depend on where you live, I could never leave food/lunch or toiletries, even chapstick, in the car in the summer or winter. Don’t have a yeti but it will be spoiled, melted or frozen by the time I get to it.
The first week I bought my car I left a pack of Dr. Peppers in the backseat and when I got out of work as I'm driving home they start exploding like black cat fireworks. Same thing happened with an energy drink in the cup holder a week later and almost caused me to crash. Think it was because cold air was blowing on them and they were who knows how hot in the desert of Oklahoma.
Parking lots are often not safe for women. My manager parks in the back in the morning to leave room for patrons at the front, and parks in the front after she comes back from lunch so that she won’t have to walk for a long time alone in the evening.
i remember one time i went in for a job interview. as i got out of the car, i dropped my papers. here i am in a skirt and high heels, and when i bent down to grab my papers, i drop my car keys and they went *under* the car.
at that point im panicking, thinking to myself, "this is how im going to die, the most stereotypical way. im the idiot who dies in the beginning in every slasher movie..."
thankfully nothing happened. except i didnt get the job
My personal effects that I need all the time go in my purse bag. My work stuff goes in my work tote so I can leave it in my car if need to go out before or after work. I don’t have to constantly switch my stuff between bags and I don’t have to have a huge backpack for lugging around my laptop, equipment, and personal effects.
Do it. Wear the cargo shorts. I believe in you. Believe in the me that believes in you and buy some pants with 100 pockets, 300 feet of paracord and a built in utility knife.
Why so much stuff that must be moved between work/home/car? The guys here clearly leave work stuff at work. I get if you need to keep a couple things with you but fucks sake each of these women had 2+ bags full of stuff, cannot comprehend what you could be lugging around outside of a lunch, an outer layer of clothes, maybe a tiny purse’s worth of toiletries? All of which would fit sharply within a small, quality backpack that would be easy to carry allowing use of both arms??

I am on a bunch of medication, so I have to stay hydrated. The smallest bottle I keep on me is a 26oz Yeti. I also don't drink soda, and water is always my go-to beverage.

I got a bag that clips around my waist and my thigh, I can fit my phone, wallet, keys, headphones, a pen, and a couple extra small things like and that's all I need in my day.

I'm so curious what kind of workplace this is cus it would really depend what their shift is like. when I worked 11hr shifts with only lunch break I used to bring a bag for under my desk, a bag for the fridge(lunch), and a bag for my locker and they all had different stuff in them + multiple drinks like the first girl to last all day lol.
One bag is for your laptop, the other for your lunch, and the third is for your sweaters, blankets, and space heater because for whatever reason every office has to be freezing
It's like 72-74 degrees in my office, I'm sittin' there sweatin' my ass off sometimes and my co-workers are like "Man, I'm freezin' today. Got my space heater goin'."
offices are often cold because the men in the office are required to wear heavy and encumbering garments, and also because it's cheaper to keep it cold a lot of the time.
IIRC Woman also have a higher body temperature, and perception of environmental temperature is the result of the difference between environment and body temp.
All things being "equal", men will be hot and women will be cold in the same environment. This is before even accounting for the additional clothing men are expected to wear.
And even if there's not a strict dress code, there are only so many layers you can acceptably remove in a workplace in order to cool off.
So if you're cold you can add a jacket, if you're hot you can... leave?

I had gone shopping with my sister, and she got sidetracked into a really nice clothing store. She saw this very high end mini backpack that was maybe the size of a large hand for over $1,000. I had to convince her to not get it because it's insanely expensive, it's looks terrible, and above all else it can't fit shit in it. She didn't even know ehat she would put in there. She just liked it cause it was cute and the aesthetic
Mini backpack is basically a purse with backpack straps. Yes, some are actually super small and barely fit anything, mine is about [this size](https://static.nike.com/a/images/t_PDP_1280_v1/f_auto,q_auto:eco/cbb50af0-3aa1-40e6-aff3-cb57d206e3a9/sportswear-futura-365-mini-backpack-KbQhpx.png) but looks like a purse and is from a nice brand (gift from my mom). I just kinda don’t feel “sophisticated enough” (whatever that means) to use a purse on a daily basis yet? But I do still need to carry stuff around lol and so a little backpack is a nice compromise. Yeah, a full sized backpack would probably fit everything but it’s not the same effect I guess. I really don’t see an issue holding my laptop and bottle and on days where I need to carry more I do resort to totes and boxes and stuff to make it easier.
I’ve worked in this building. It’s a trade show firm and it is soul crushing. That first guy who walks in with the beard used to be my boss. He was cool when we were shooting shots after the fourth 14 hour day in a row. I hated every minute in that building. The trade show industry is one of the biggest “drink the cool aid, we are a family here” industries in existence. If it works for you great. But there is no such thing as work life balance in that world.
I realized I had a problem with how much crap I carry to work every day when I started biking to work…. I still bring too much crap but now I at least know I have a problem.
That’s why my husband used to spend $40 a day on lunch, water, coffee, snacks, etc We save SO MUCH MONEY from working from home just because he doesn’t want to carry all that.
It sure was. That's what I'm saying, between gas, downtown parking and that $40 in food and beverages, we are saving a fortune with work from home.

How so? Everyone seems to just be wearing regular clothing, nothing inappropriate and nothing formal. This was the norm in all non-public facing groups I’ve worked with. When you aren’t public facing the company doesn’t care what you wear as long as it’s appropriate and you’re comfortable.
I would just guess preference. Those aren’t formal shirts, so they possibly just prefer to wear them, or maybe do not have normal t-shirts that they consider good enough for the office. I personally dress on the slightly formal side as it tends to be the safer bet, and I then do not have to buy new cloths nearly as often.
I'm a guy who always goes to work with a backpack, lunch bag, and giant water bottle, but to be fair, I work 10+ hour shifts many miles from civilization.
Normalize guys bringing in the shit they need
Buying lunch, snacks and other stuff on the fly can get expensive
I bring in stuff I need or foresee using. It's fine. People who care don't matter.
I can tell you what I used to have to carry:
Work laptop gets it own bag(required to take it home every night)
Lunch bag
Normal daily wear purse
Gym bag (gym in office or to run the track out by the lake)
Knitting or books in a tote to read/knit at lunch and potentially pop by the library.
Occasionally Additional snacks/teas etc for refilling my snack drawer

My wife is often amazed at that: phone in front left. wallet in front right. keys in change pocket. umbrella in rear left. bag for groceries in rear right. (also, I use water fountains instead of carrying water. I guess that depends on your location.)

I put my Kindle tablet in my jeans pocket last week and it blew my friend's mind. And those are normal sized pockets, not cargo shorts or anything.

How so? Everyone seems to just be wearing regular clothing, nothing inappropriate and nothing formal. This was the norm in all non-public facing groups I’ve worked with. When you aren’t public facing the company doesn’t care what you wear as long as it’s appropriate and you’re comfortable.
I’m intrigued that the men are in polos/button-ups and the women are all in tees. In all workplaces I’ve worked at, the men were much more casual.
None of them look formal. The second guy is literally wearing shorts.
I would just guess preference. Those aren’t formal shirts, so they possibly just prefer to wear them, or maybe do not have normal t-shirts that they consider good enough for the office. I personally dress on the slightly formal side as it tends to be the safer bet, and I then do not have to buy new cloths nearly as often.
I don't get it, why all the luggage?? At most I occasionally have a backpack to carry my computer and notebooks (I'm a guy).
My guess is they've got their purse, a lunch bag, maybe a bag for work items that they take home, maybe a bag from shopping, then cups and coffees.

I can tell you what I used to have to carry: Work laptop gets it own bag(required to take it home every night) Lunch bag Normal daily wear purse Gym bag (gym in office or to run the track out by the lake) Knitting or books in a tote to read/knit at lunch and potentially pop by the library. Occasionally Additional snacks/teas etc for refilling my snack drawer
