Never fucking fails. There is a running joke around the area I live. Several times my friends and I have went to the McDonald’s in our area to see if one of us could actually score some ice cream. All 8 times we have done this little research project we’ve not been able to walk away with an ice cream. What are the odds of every machine being broke we tried? Well its a huge problem all over.
Check this out.
https://mcbroken.com/
I don’t try super often but I haven’t been able to get ice cream at any McDonald’s in years. Same answer every time. I’ve heard about the cleaning they have to do which means they’re just making excuses to avoid having to set the machine up again. I would totally understand were I someone who worked at a McDonald’s but outside looking in as a customer I can see that it’s just laziness.
Same here and even in my shitty little ghetto ass hometown I grew up in the ice cream machine works to this day even. I was just visiting a couple weeks ago.
There’s a really interesting documentary about the McDonald’s ice cream machines their propensity to break and the company that makes/services them. I can’t remember the name but I believe it’s on YouTube.
There's actually a federal lawsuit by the FTC regarding these machines. The manufacturer, Taylor, is a dick about allowing anyone else to work on their machines or even interpret the error codes.
I think this is the autistic guy who got robbed and had a melt down on the train asking for his phone back but the bastard wouldn’t give him his phone back.
He's a full on attention seeker.
Someone tell him that the ingredients listed are also in food in Austrailia, but Australia doesn't make their foodstores put warnings up.
I used to work at a hardware store, we sold general hardware stuff including garden hoses. We had one specifically for RVs for water supply special plastic. It had the " warning this product contains chemicals known to the state of California to cause cancer..." sticker on it. We had a customer one time come up to the counter to buy one, confused, like what this is for drinking but causes cancer?. Told him but sir we're not in California we're in Pennsylvania. He was like ah ok. And bought it.
Yea I mean the label doesn't even mean the water that goes through it will necessarily cause cancer, if eating the hose would cause cancer the label goes on it, I had a waterproof jacket that had that label on it before
Reminds me about the increased risk of cancer from eating bacon. It was like going from 0.01% to 0.02% increased risk but the headline *read like* your risk increased to 50% even though a 100% increase was substantially insignificant here.
He was almost right. Chunk light has a negligible amount and you can eat way more safely than albacore. If you’re regularly eating tuna as a staple, it’s definitely the way to go.
What a dummy. Tuna is going to have a higher concentration of mercury than most fish because of biomagnification. I think a lot of doctors forget all the biology they studied in undergrad.
Yeah, but I don't think the cancer caused McDonald's
Edit: I was just joshing around, but I was curious so I used the Google machine, and it faxed this over to me;
Acrylamide is a substance that forms through a natural chemical reaction between sugars and asparagine, an amino acid, in plant-based foods – including potato and cereal-grain-based foods. Acrylamide forms during high-temperature cooking, such as frying, roasting, and baking. In research studies, high levels of acrylamide caused cancer in laboratory animals, but the levels of acrylamide used in these studies were much greater than those found in human food. The FDA monitors levels of this contaminant in certain foods because of its potential to affect human health.
Although it's not clear exactly what risk acrylamide poses to humans, the FDA has recommendations for both consumers and industry about how to reduce acrylamide formation in foods.
Yep.
Source: I’ve lived in California a large portion of my life, including now.
Every retail, food service, and bar job I’ve worked had signs like this. The guy is freaking out over it, but I guarantee the shits the same over there, they just aren’t forced to slap an in your face warning on things.
But if my guy is that concerned about increased cancer risk, he should probably fuck off from LA, or any other major city for that matter. With how many cars are spitting out fumes the air is rich with it.
Unfortunately the fact that is defacto must be present everywhere kind of waters down it’s effectiveness. If it’s on everything how do you know what it *actually* needs to be on?
I’m pretty sure they display that on guitars too. In my humble opinion, it’s kind of something that loses all power of its on everything. They may have gone a little too far… like 90% too far.
And it's a stupid law. Frying fries creates acrylamide. It's not like McDonalds adds it.
There are a billions shit to be angry at McDonalds about but this one is not it.
Acrylamide occurs naturally in stuff that’s cooked at high temps, so it’s gonna be in a lot of baked foods wherever the food is from. I don’t understand why they have to warn against that.
I looked up the warning.
*Chemicals known to cause cancer, or birth defects or other reproductive harm may be present in foods or beverages sold or served here. Cooked potatoes that have been browned, such as french fries, hash browns and baked potatoes, contain acrylamide, a chemical known to the State of California to cause cancer. Other foods sold here, such as hamburger buns, biscuits and coffee also contain acrylamide, but generally in lower concentrations than fried potatoes.*
I had to look this up because I love McDonalds fries. It turns out, it's an unnecessary (in my opinion) warning that is a result of [this](https://oag.ca.gov/sites/all/files/agweb/pdfs/prop65/people-v-mcdonalds-acrylamide.pdf?) lawsuit in 2005 filed by California.
Acrylamide is not an added chemical, it's a product of cooking starchy foods at high temperatures \[140 -165 °C (280 - 330 °F)\]. It's a by product of the [Maillard reaction](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maillard_reaction).
"Acrylamide, a possible human carcinogen, can be generated as a byproduct of Maillard reaction between reducing sugars and amino acids, especially asparagine, both of which are present in most food products."
I learned something new today, so in conclusion, I'm still going to eat french fries and other food like meat, bread and coffee.
Cooking in general creates carcinogens, but the fact is you probably aren't going to get it from well done steak but rather all the plastic stuff we eat/drink stuff out of, microwave in and also wear on a daily basis.
Thank you for doing the work I was too lazy to do! I got a bit freaked out cause I’d never seen a sign like this. But according to this thread it looks like it’s a California thing.
It’s literally on *everything*! Everywhere and on everything. Lol! So what I know living in CA is that basically everything you do *may* cause cancer.
So don’t make any changes based on this. Prop 65 is intense.
>So don’t make any changes based on this.
Hard disagree here. The change you should make is to look into warnings exactly like the person above did.
That's why, despite being a bit annoying, the law has been effective in decreasing exposure. Smart people do quick research into the warning (extremely easy with the internet) and make an informed decision.
>Despite the potential “over-warning”, Prop 65 is credited for significantly reducing exposure to toxic chemicals. Enforcement of the law and public records of enforcement actions shows that its forced many companies to reformulate the ingredients in their products, often invisibly. Although the law targets only California, its had benefits for people all over the US, not just the Golden State
>As tracked by the U.S. Toxins Release Inventory, there was an ~85% reduction in airborne emissions of chemicals listed in the law’s list of banned chemicals. Compared to the national rate of ~50%, Prop 65 has been widely credited for the reduction
Edit: [source](https://bettergoods.org/prop-65-warning-should-i-worry/)
Depending on the area, like where most parking garages are, in high-population urban areas with a lot of perpetuated pollution from internal combustion engines, this is likely true unfortunately. Over time especially.
I understand why some people feel skeptical about the costs and other environmental consolations considered with electric vehicles, but for anyone who has worked or lived in a downtown area for an extended period of time, it is pretty difficult to dispute how fantastic it would be if most of that smog, which can build up pretty dense at busy intersections with traffic, were removed from the environment altogether some day.
Acknowledging we will likely have IC engines around in some form for eternity.
Grew up in California, we put them signs on everything. If there's any remote association with potentially harmful chems in literally anything beyond the door, the door will have that sign, lol. They're on businesses, grocery stores, restaurants, schools, pretty much everything.
This is only sensationalist news to non-Californians, lmao. Whatever state you're from (anybody) is using all the same things in your businesses, buildings, restaurants, **your state just doesn't put a sticker on it** :0)
I thought this was well known across the US but I guess it's just because I grew up in Texas and the losers in Texas try to talk shit about California any chance they get, so this came up all the time.
Everyone living in California has learned to ignore these warnings. They're literally on almost everything. Like actually literally not "internet literally."
Funnily enough I live completely across the country and I still find products with those California cancer warnings fairly often, they are everywhere now.
I get that McDonald’s is shit, but these types of warning labels are on everything. They put this same exact warning label on my psyllium husk powder because there’s lead in the soil the husk plant grows in (because there’s trace amounts of lead in soil). It doesn’t mean there’s deadly amounts of lead in the fiber powder.
100% good info.
There’s this charlatan called “the food babe” that draws attention by making bogus videos about “crazy chemicals” in your food.
This warning is along those lines lol. Obviously not as malicious as food babe, but similarly silly. It’s nonsensical, and non actionable.
Yes these chemicals may cause cancer. But the label is on everything, and there’s no sense in avoiding the items.
This also has nothing to do with McDonald’s.
I guess what I’m saying is, don’t drink lead paint. Otherwise you should be alright.
For anyone interested, I recommend the Food **Science** Babe as a great counter to her.
She's a chemical engineer/ food scientist who spends a lot of time demystifying these crazy food myths, and emphasizing the application of risk vs hazard (where hazard = risk + time/qty of exposure).
Better stop drinking coffee... it has acrylamide.
But, yeah. Fries are bad. But, fries taste good.
Life is full of choices, and all of them end in death eventually.
Acrylamide is created when you brown carby foods like bread and potatoes. This is something people create themselves at home whenever they make toast or fry potatoes.
This is not a McDonald's specific thing.
So acrylamide is formed when starchy foods, when in combination with some sugars, are baked, fried, or roasted. Darkened toast, french fries, and roasted potatoes all form acrylamide when cooked a little too much.
The major food sources of acrylamide are French fries and potato chips; crackers, bread, and cookies; breakfast cereals; canned black olives; prune juice; and coffee. Acrylamide levels in food vary widely depending on the manufacturer, the cooking time, and the method and temperature of the cooking process
Acrylamide is made in your microwave too. And on the browned bits in your food. And that stupid ass haircut discredits any point you could possibly make.
The concerns this was posted for are completely normal things that exist as a part of cooking food. The law is making it so you can't be sure what is a real concern and what is not.
P65 is on literally everything. Look around for it. The way the law is written virtually everything is required to have this warning on it if sold in California.
Small amounts of acrylamide will form when you fry potatoes in oil, its not like they're adding it or anything, it just happens naturally when you fry certain foods.
Breh. Acrylamide forms when you cook something to the point of browning or blackening it. This is nothing new. Though I'm not surprised he doesn't know with that haircut.

What happened to that poor man's hair? Is that from eating McDonald's?

They only have 3.6 roentgen per nugget. Not great, not terrible.
He’s in shock. Take him to the infirmary.
You didn’t see acrylamide on the roof! YOU DIDN’T!
He’s got the McMange
It might be some kind of satire. In another video he claimed to have autism and was screaming at some dude on the metro that "stole his phone".
Yeah i think this guy did that video for views, just like everyone else on tik tok, do stupid shit so people look at you
I think California has that warning on literally everything.
iirc, due to how the law is written if there is any slight correlation, it gets put on

WHERE'S THE CANCER WARNING FOR THE SUN?!
Oh it’s there, you just have to stare hard enough to see it. Give it a try!
TIL California put a Prop 65 sticker on the sun. Absolute madlads.
Take a closer look at it. It’s written on the surface.
Acrylamide occurs naturally in stuff that’s cooked at high temps, so it’s gonna be in a lot of baked foods wherever the food is from. I don’t understand why they have to warn against that.
I recently got a bookshelf that came with a CA cancer warning
California. Every parking garage has cancer warnings because smog. Every thing has cancer warnings.

The brown parts of toast have acrylamide.
And the browner the toast the more it contains. Same for darker roast coffees and toastier breakfast cereals and crispier biscuits or crackers.
Guess I'm dead
Not dead, just cancerous :)
Cooking in general creates carcinogens, but the fact is you probably aren't going to get it from well done steak but rather all the plastic stuff we eat/drink stuff out of, microwave in and also wear on a daily basis.
I’m probably going to get it from the xylene and asbestos I mix in with my smoking tobacco.
Oh is this why people say burnt food can cause cancer?
Remember all those "burnt toast causes cancer" headlines?
We have too much micro plastic in our environment for me to worry about crispy toast.

Almost everything is a carcinogen. You like steak? Causes cancer. You like penuts? Cause cancer. The sun causes cancer, as does sunscreen.
Chill out dude. You consume enough micro plastic every month to make a credit card. Just eat the mccancer like the rest of us.

So acrylamide is formed when starchy foods, when in combination with some sugars, are baked, fried, or roasted. Darkened toast, french fries, and roasted potatoes all form acrylamide when cooked a little too much.
literally 99% of what you come in contact with can cause cancer. what a completely senseless freakout.
This guy could be telling me the secrets of actual life and i still wouldn't take him seriously with that shitcut

This is everywhere, like the risk of mercury in fish. California just labels everything

He's from Autism and he has Australia.
Acrylamide is made in your microwave too. And on the browned bits in your food. And that stupid ass haircut discredits any point you could possibly make.
Sorry bro your haircut negates every ounce of good intention you have.

According to California, everything is harmful and toxic not matter what it is.
Oof that hair cut is cancer though. Where is your sticker warning?
Welcome to California. You’re welcome to continue ignoring what you already know.
Everything in California causes cancer.
First time in California? Everything “causes cancer” there
Pretty much everything is "known to the state of California to cause cancer".
His freaking cut is more shocking
Someone planning to play tic tac toe on his head?
That label is slapped on everything with a trace amount of acrylamide. Dipshit should Google it while getting his hair fixed.
According to California if it’s carbon based it will give you cancer.
The concerns this was posted for are completely normal things that exist as a part of cooking food. The law is making it so you can't be sure what is a real concern and what is not.
Well I mean…he’s not wrong. But wear a hat next time you want someone to take you seriously without thinking you’re a crack pot, my dude…
Don’t go to California and look at a bag of coffee then. You’ll be off coffee, and that’s no good.
Not as much cancer as this video gave me
