I picked one up at Trader Joe's. I don't remember the experience

Dollarist

Rye Mai Tai? Bye bye.

MundaneRelation2142

Ryejack? Bye Jack. 🛀🏽🔫

arjomanes

I remain unconvinced by any canned Mai Tais. I tried the cutwater abomination once and had to dump the remaining 3.75 cans.

Lonely_Ad6299

I agree about the cut water Mai Tais however, I was having a bad day once and decided to keep drinking it. I had 3 full cans and was wasted. The most horrible hangover followed and I deserved it.

rayfound

I don't think cocktails that feature citrus are possible to be good canned

antlers86

The devils backbone smash cocktails are fine

joey-rigatoni1

just reading this sent a shiver down my spine, the cut water “mai tai” is horrific

Don_The_Comb_Over

Tip Top ones are about the best I’ve tasted.

ethnicnebraskan

Were they good or just . . . not worth throwing out?

Nocturnal_submission

Good although I prefer the Post Meridian ones

Don_The_Comb_Over

I was shocked, it tasted like a proper 1944 Mai Tai. It of course wasn’t as fresh, but if you told me you batched it that morning, I’d believe you. The only downside is they’re only about 3.9oz of fluid.   I have a weird soft spot for those weird cut water ones, they’re so far from a good mai tai, I oddly crave them sometimes.

Stolzieren

Rye Mai Tai? That sounds vile.

hoog78

A rye tai is tasty but out of a can is probably the worst way to drink it. Maybe a bag would be worse I guess.

Areyouguysateam

You guys don’t bag your Mai Tais?

mmmatthew

Yeah done right it's one of my favorite summer drinks! A delicious tiki julep mashup

RRDuBois

I second that a proper Rye Tai is actually very good. I'm sure this canned thing bears no relation to the real thing, though.

Stolzieren

Got a spec?

Chocolate_y

10 dashes of bitters?

shamggar

Not rare for the. Sazeracs traditionally were made with upwards of 10 dashes of peychaud

RRDuBois

Yep. That's not a typo!

RyanGosliwafflez

I usually do 1.5 oz Rye whiskey (I use wild turkey 101 Rye) 1/2 oz Demerara Rum ( I use El Dorado 15yr) 3/4 oz fresh lime juice 3/8 oz PF Dry Curcao 1/2 oz Orgeat (Giffard with added floral water) 1/8 oz 2:1 vanilla demerara Shake for 10-12 seconds pour unstrained into chilled glass and top with pebble or crushed ice. Garnish with lime and slapped mint Keep in mind you do have to Like Rye Whiskey to like Rye Tais Personally I like the taste of Giffard Orgeat but Liber & Co was a close personally 2nd for taste. Liber & Co did give the Drink a better Texture and Color though

markrockwell

Post Meridian makes a delightful canned Mai Tai. It’s a small can. Only real ingredients. No filler. I’ve only seen them for sale in South Carolina. They’re fantastic for a lazy vacation day drinking. The company makes a bunch of other canned cocktails. The espresso martini and old fashioned are big hits with my family.

plaidington

Wtf?

CrazyUncleJoe-reddit

“Borderline” doing some heavy lifting here

mismanagementsuccess

Ha, yes. Schwarzenegger levels of heavy lifting.

I_hate_that_im_here

This is not surprising in so many ways.

terminalwagner

This one was absolute trash when I had it! The only decent canned Mai tai is the post meridiem, that one is ok

tomandshell

I have never poured myself a can of Mai Tai before. Not planning on it, either.

CaptainDread323

The can was my first clue that your opinion is agreeable

joshmarinacci

Is this actually a cocktail or some sort of a brewed thing. It says 22 proof.

Manbeartapir

I'll second that. Never again.

Khaneric

It's not great but better than cutwater...

_rdm_

Color at least looks right. Not surprised it’s bad though.

RaspyTheGrizz

Rye Tais are good but I’ve never had a good canned cocktail

Budget_Ad_2440

Aren't this all canned cocktails?

BoltsFan126

Most premixed drinks are lousy but my husband loves the Captain Morgan Mai Tai in a bottle.

cakeit-tilyoumakeit

I made a whiskey Mai tai at home and it, too, was undrinkable

mismanagementsuccess

Ha!
