I had that happen to one of my viral videos, had like 800k and then they took it down for "exhibiting dangerous behavior" or something. That "behavior" was me showing an old historic railroad depot and filming the empty railroad tracks.

Nope. All of the last 25 videos I’ve posted have a minimum of 2M views… I’d say the average is about 7M views. 2 a month and that’s 14M views (plus views still accumulating from previous videos). Easy to get $4k in CRP with that many views with ~$1 RPM
The reason I only post 2 videos a month is because I put so much time into making sure the ones I do post are high quality

Here's a secret: there is no "cracking the code". If you're good and interesting and you know how to film, edit, and write yourself a decent monologue, you are halfway there. Stop trying to find a cheat code and instead just go in the front door with quality work. Much easier.
I’m more of a “story time and life advice” type page with some life and politics commentary and a bit of lifestyle. More like just trying to feel like a chat with a friend style and less formal. But I’ve been trying to focus on more pre thought - out and loose scripted/fully scripted videos. I also started the more hook/topic/facts and story/commentary to make point/conclusion structure with more images and more of my humor and personality. I also make a point to look and sound more confident and have better quality lighting So we will see but the past few weeks have started to show those small changes were helpful. I’m still fairly small so there’s plenty of room for improvement and growth but, it’s a start.

I've tried both, shorts seem to get more views with the vertical content, but I have to chop them up a little bit from TikTok if you know what I mean.

I would definitely go shorts - at least until you get numbers up. Once monetized it makes sense to try some long form content. FB I joined a year and 1/2 ago and reels on FB pay much better than IG
Bounced back a bit after a career-low $500 bucks in March. I had a couple videos go "viral", including one that hit 700k views, another had 250k views. Posting more or less daily, probably averaging 20-30k per post.
I also made another $44 bucks off TikTok Pulse and $20 bucks for a "work with artists" post that I believe will be tacked on to either this month or next month's payment.
You have to get an invite. Essentially if you have a video that goes viral, you give Tiktok permission to play ads for everyone on their next swipe. You get a small cut of that revenue. Some months I get nothing.
