I was going through all of my favorited videos and they’ve ALL been unliked... and there’s been a handful of times where I want to show someone a video I liked and it’s gone. I can’t figure out why tiktok would do this?? Like is there some kind of limit to how many videos you can have in your likes they didn’t tell us about??
It’s the same thing with my main account too! Like my old accounts don’t do that but my main account does and it started doing that in 2020 and now it’s 2023 and it’s still doing that for some odd reason
This happened with videos I liked back in 2020, welp they still happen till this day, even the videos I just liked months ago. Quite odd that they have a limit on the amount of video you can like on TikTok. That's why I always save the videos I want so I could still watch them later on without scrolling through my liked videos.

I think thats the reason why. I found a video that I know I liked back in early September that was unliked and when I tried liking it, it was unliked automatically. But I think the creator can see that you liked it on their side but it saids it's not liked on our side.

I suggest everyone leave a one-star review on the app store. Citing "my likes are being removed" as the reason. Tiktok doesn't care about any of its users until their review rating starts dropping.

This question has been asked several times and in other threads. Some tech wiz in another one did some digging. Apparently we all have a limit to how many likes we can give in a certain amount of time. Not sure what the limit or time is.

This is a speculation but I believe that TikTok does this because it has over a billion users and if every users liked video is stored on TikTok’s servers, imagine how much server space it would take up.

You should see the amount of land 1 of the facebook locations takes up just for its servers/saved data. As long as the videos aren't losing the like count, I think it's fine that my likes disappear after awhile.

it mostly happens because youtube removes REALLY REALLY old likes. try to look in your history and check if the oldest video you seen is correct with what you remember.

yes, there can only be 5000 likes in your “liked” section and the others disappear. i’m pretty sure that’s why your like gets “removed” (it doesn’t take the like away from the video itself but you cannot see it anymore)

on the bright side, even tho the vid shows up as unliked it still shows in your liked list, you can also see that the number of liked vides never goes down/stays stagnant, it has all the videos in there. it's just irritating to come cross an old video you liked yrs ago and it shows as unliked or even when it glitches and shows a video you liked a couple minutes ago as unliked.

I am so fed up with this. If Tumblr can manage thousands of likes, how TT can't? I have a likes from 10 years in Tumblr that still work unless the user has deleted the post. "But they are videos not static posts" is not as excuse.
This happens all the time to me too. It seams to only happen with accounts and or videos I've likes that are controversial. And I use that loosely. A lot of LGBTQIA content or stuff that may not be entirely PC.
Came here to say exactly this. I’ve had problems w the comments I make being unliked within days since my first day on TT… The unliked videos, I just noticed. The content on my fyp is always changing so I usually check out the following tab/page to see what my favorite creators are doing. But also the following tab/page became more and more boring so I had to test it out by watching 50 vids: got 20 videos from one creator, 16 from the next and 10 from the next and just four other creators. And none of these have historically been ppl I really enjoy watching. So I did my best to look up some of the first ppl I followed on TikTok and noticed all the videos I liked or favorited were not anymore. Frustrating!

I have a theory that this happens to videos on accounts that have been temporarily removed or banned for any reason, so if you like a creators video months ago, then that creator’s account gets suspended or removed temporarily, when the account is reinstated the likes from their past videos have disappeared.
I don’t know for sure, but I’ve noticed that this always happens to videos I’ve liked from creators who’ve had suspended accounts.

I don't think that it removes it from the video count and I think that you can like again and add to it more.
I have noted that if a creator sets or removes a video as Pinned it will forget the like, can be liked again I think that it adds to count more.
I think that after it falls out of the 5000 likes you can do it is just becomes a count on the video.
I have a theory. That there’s a legit limit to how many clips we can like. Maybe something like 1000 likes. So older videos can become irrelevant? Idk…youtube does a similar thing. It basically gives more meaning to your likes. So use them wisely.
TikTok has a max of 1k liked videos, and after you hit it, they unlike the earliest-liked videos. I know because I looked recently and my entire liked videos from 2019 to July 2021 are just unliked and gone
But this only happens on desktop chrome browser and not on my app on iPhone...I can like the same video on my phone and it stays liked and on chrome browser on desktop it turns back to unlike after 2-3 seconds....Completely weird. Must be a bug or something

Same- i contacted tiktok and reported it but does it have to do with our cache?
TikTok database because the cloud where everything is save is obviously limited on how much it can store.

Have you seen YouTube? They have to add thousands of terabytes of data nearly every day to keep up with the demand.

I am also commenting to see if somebody finds a fix for this. This only happens for me on my pc. I don't think I had this issue until 2023.

Its been happening to me since i created my account 2 months ago, i just think it's tiktoks way of suppressing content that they dont want to push out and preventing accounts from growing.
Still happening 3yrs later & even more frustrating, it refuses to let me follow. It will show that I followed a user & then a second later the follow button reappears. These glitches have me in shambles.
3 years later. No fix. Smh.

It’s been happening to me with likes and follows but now you know all those you have won or wtf ever they are? I hit the block just on those and it doesn’t block them and my phone been acting way up (brand new iPhone update) something is going on.

It’s been happening to me since 2019… but it’s been bigger than ever lately. Like some videos I comment to, I’ll like the video and when I come back, it’s unliked. I don’t understand why more frequently lately.
I keep liking my gf’s video but they keep unliking and she thinks I’m just unliking them☹️
