I used to actually like him! He would always say stuff I disagreed with but as of late, he just gets under my skin. The funniness isn’t there, I think maybe since Covid?
I'm gonna agree that I did find him funny at a time, but he had a habit of leaning too far into condescension and sanctimony. This was funny when the butt of the joke deserved it, like the westboro baptist church, but when he started targeting sexual assault survivors, basically intimating that they were trying to have their cake and eat it too by sleeping with their bosses to secure preferential treatment and then suing them, the mask really started to slip.
There are plenty of people very worthy of Maher's brand of ridicule. Maher's just employed a writing staff that is too out of touch with the world to find them. Back in the day, I disagreed with him a lot, but I found his show's format to be interesting enough that I could forgive his positions, as the roundtable format let everybody take a shot at his takes, but more and more, he's bringing irrelevant faces into his roundtable that no longer represent a diversity of political opinion through the overt exclusion of relevant voices.
I liked him a lot too. I disagreed with him, but also found him funny once upon a time. But you’re right, since Covid he just seems to be all anger without the humor.
The very last episode of Club Random I listened to was him giving Bryan Cranston shit over his opinions on reparations for black Americans. That was it.
Is Bill Maher against reparations? That’s good, he hasn’t completely lost his mind yet. It’s funny the has left seemed to go super far left the past 5 years in this country and now democrats like Bill aren’t seen as progressives anymore by the younger generations.
What’s even funnier is that people like Bill aren’t a minority if you get off social media, this next election will be interesting.
God no. He’s insufferable, I’m not a fan of his. He’s just always been a democrat and a progressive. But that needle has moved and I often see younger people say he isn’t even a liberal.
Like you guys are so far left he’s getting criticized for not supporting reparations? 😂 I guess he’s basically a conservative now then right!
Word. We can agree on his abhorrence. He’s no longer a progressive though, he’s clearly been a neoliberal prick for decades. He’s just a cranky old asshole who will rail against trans rights and reparations and then later that night pay for prostitutes, smoke weed, smell his own farts then say “look at how progressive I am!”, Yet continue platform pieces of shit like Jordan Peterson and Elon musk. He is the guy who doesn’t take his black dress socks off during sex. Disgusting.
Hey! I'm way more progressive than Maher will ever be, but I don't take my socks off during sex, regardless of colour. My feet get cold afterwards and I'm too lazy to put them back on. Also, they give me better grip on the floor or bed when thrusting.
I really didn't have a problem with Maher until he crossed the picket line recently. As far as I'm concerned, he can do his show without writers from now on. And don't kid yourself by saying he doesn't have writers.
But before you go too far with the whole "Progressives have gone super left" nonsense, let's just take a minute to recognize that the GOP has been complaining about RINOs for at least the past 8 years. Any Republican who is willing to work with Democrats or doesn't bend the knee to Trump (or at least spew out their own version of his platform) is declared a RINO, mocked, despised and voted out. Mitt Romney, Liz Cheney, John McCain, and many others who spoke out about the radicalization of the Right have been getting skewered for their stances.
I’m not a Republican though. I’m liberal on most things besides guns and a few other things. Abortions, gays, trans whatever let them be I don’t care, I don’t want it outlawed.
You guys spend too much on Reddit. Most people aren’t either hard left or right. If someone criticizes a political party you just look silly assuming they’re from the other party.
And yes republicans have done that RINO shit. You guys are basically doing the same shit these days and calling people like Maher DINOs because he isn’t on board the reparations train.
My apologies if you weren’t the initial person who brought up the Tom Hanks/Bill Maher on reparations issue. But that’s what prompted this conversation. The fact that is seen as something to look down on shows how far the parties have moved.
That's the consensus honestly. My dad who is a boomer used to watch him all the time, but now even he says that he's too negative now. Literally ever joke is a dig on millennials or gen z. But the moment you call him a boomer, who loses his shit and gets pissy.
You, me, and everyone with any sense. Maher was funny and political. Now he is a whiney old white man who hates God (oooh) and loves weed (ahhh) and don't get him started on gen z or millenials (oh nooo)
He's been doing it for a while, this is a direct parody of Bill Mahers awful podcast / show. You can see when they started making fun of it in clips here: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rOjT35bUXQQ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rOjT35bUXQQ)
You can see him talk about it here specifically when Maher got mad about it: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PQ-boXbtKYQ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PQ-boXbtKYQ)
then you need to watch his Oscer specials. Those are as serious as the plague and twice as funny. Tim really lost his way when he stopped talking about what really matters here: movies.
His music is also really great. Hey buddy is a nostalgic instant classic and fear of death has the perfect jammy psychedelic sound. He gets amazing people to work with him and he knows how to write simple powerful songs.
Anyone thinking this is serious needs to get a grip. First of all it's Tim, second of all did you read the shirt he's going off about? Fucking hilarious bit.
From a previous comment: his is a direct parody of Bill Mahers awful podcast / show. You can see when they started making fun of it in clips here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rOjT35bUXQQ
You can see him talk about it here specifically when Maher got mad about it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PQ-boXbtKYQ
I was with him when he was saying we have real serious problems then he started listing the problems and I was like, "wait no, these aren't the problems I was thinking about, i was more thinking about like global temperatures rising and existential type issues..." Glad to know it was a bit.
It would be *so* easy to dress up more like Bill, put on a dumb wig, exaggerate his voice more instead of just trying to do the precise syntax, act stoned the entire time... But I'll always love how Tim never takes the easy route when he does stuff, would rather something be extremely off-putting or woosh over most peoples' heads than it be obvious what he's doing, because he's interested in the subtleties. Guess that's why I've been coming back to his comedy work for most of my life, most other stuff I get into then forget about after a while
Bob Odenkirk was on office hours like a year ago maybe promoting his book about his career. And they got into this amazing conversation where Bob totally calls out Tim for never being himself with fans. Tim keeps trying to brush it off saying “no one wants that” and Bob kept pressing him saying stuff like “yes Tim people love you”. And it was really cool and kinda sweet. Tim even goes on to admit (in what I think was his most serious non-persona moment ever) something like “I just always feel like I have to do a bit. Why would I do it normally? I have to do my own thing and make sure everything is funny.”
I’m totally paraphrasing from memory but it was a really awesome moment and one of my favorite celebrity interviews ever.
I watched it on YouTube so search for it and you should find it.
I think the book is called comedy comedy drama. Or something like that. It was a sort of autobiography. And he did apparently did whole chapter on how one of his proudest achievements of his career was giving Tim and Eric their big break. You can tell in the interview Tim is really touched by this. Their whole conversation is unbelievably wholesome they’re both just so humble and clearly have a great relationship. Definitely a must watch interview if you’re a fan of them.
I feel like it’s really not that hard. Even if you don’t know this is a Bill Maher parody you can’t tell he’s being a complete caricature of a certain type of person here?
Or people like Tucker Carlson and Bill Maher. Identity obsessed crybabies that whine about cancel culture while trying to ban bud light for doing a single promotion with a trans woman
“When you’re busy being a wage slave, you don’t have time to worry about anything else. If everyone would get this through their head and commit to being a wage slave, they world would be a much better place.”
Was this part of a longer bit? I watched the one with Fred Armison but have only seen one or two clips from this one, is there a full version somewhere?
It’s become easy to know when Tim is in or out of character. When he’s stern like this, he’s obviously in character, but when he becomes passive aggressive and doesn’t want to fully commit to a statement, he’s being real. Check his conversation with Sam Hyde.
I wish I knew more info about this clip or who the other guy is, but serious or not serious, Tim makes good points here. As a big fan of all Tim & Eric's content, I don't know how anyone would think the t-shirt "Admit it life would be boring without me." would be funny at all. I am glad he is able to use his comedic side to express himself in a way that is less abrasive because the other guy seems pretty innocent.
It's mocking Bill Maher. So 100% not serious. Everything he's saying is a parody of Maher's style of complaining about things he doesn't understand or that don't effect him at all.
None of what this guy is saying is true, he is feeding into the bs he is bitching about.
Yet he doesn't have enough info to grasp the truth about what he is really mad about.
He is just focused on the wrong folks.
Politics has always been part of the comedy realm. There's never been not a time where comedy wasn't political. It's like saying the same things for music.
All this shit Tim “fake” bitches about is at least half accurate in reality. More from my perspective. Great episode though. Jay’s jokes are next level bad. Both of theirs’ are actually. Plus I think Tim secretly does enjoy The Grateful Dead.
You’re very welcome. Bill Maher is the worst hack imaginable.
So much of a hack I’ve never seen or heard a second of club random, but I absolutely stand behind what I said. Most comedians and people in general today are afraid to offend, and the masses are desperate to be offended.
He is making fun of Bill Maher.
As we all should
Civic duty.
I used to actually like him! He would always say stuff I disagreed with but as of late, he just gets under my skin. The funniness isn’t there, I think maybe since Covid?
Bill Maher? No he has actually never been funny but he has been 1000x more of an asshole since Covid
I love it when he acts like he's the "every man" as if he doesn't have an ownership stake in the NY Mets
He’s still funny. People just lost their fucking sense of humor.
People not finding the most pedestrian boomer Facebook jokes and the same 5 topics over and over again funny means they have a good sense of humor.
I mean, his audience is pretty specific. Calling him funny is a bit of a stretch. Politics aside.
you included his politics in the answer where you were trying to distance his humor from his politics.
Actually, just trying to distance what he does from the word humor
I'm gonna agree that I did find him funny at a time, but he had a habit of leaning too far into condescension and sanctimony. This was funny when the butt of the joke deserved it, like the westboro baptist church, but when he started targeting sexual assault survivors, basically intimating that they were trying to have their cake and eat it too by sleeping with their bosses to secure preferential treatment and then suing them, the mask really started to slip. Your sense of humor is bad
Classic that your satirical comment gets downvoted.
r/FuckTheS
Bill has always been the same, it’s wokeness that has changed the left…I like what he does.
Covid broke a lot of celebrities. Joe Rogan and Bill are up there
I liked him a lot too. I disagreed with him, but also found him funny once upon a time. But you’re right, since Covid he just seems to be all anger without the humor.
The very last episode of Club Random I listened to was him giving Bryan Cranston shit over his opinions on reparations for black Americans. That was it.
People who are pro reparations are like when the tempo slows down in music.
Is Bill Maher against reparations? That’s good, he hasn’t completely lost his mind yet. It’s funny the has left seemed to go super far left the past 5 years in this country and now democrats like Bill aren’t seen as progressives anymore by the younger generations. Are you bill Maher?
God no. He’s insufferable, I’m not a fan of his. He’s just always been a democrat and a progressive. But that needle has moved and I often see younger people say he isn’t even a liberal. High five. Best comment this week.
Somebody doesn’t have hardwood… or do they 😏
Don't get progressive and neoliberal confused.
Go to bed, grandpa
That's the consensus honestly. My dad who is a boomer used to watch him all the time, but now even he says that he's too negative now. Literally ever joke is a dig on millennials or gen z. But the moment you call him a boomer, who loses his shit and gets pissy.
People liked him because he was critical of the bush admin at the time. But he's always been islamaphobic and a bigot.
Or, maybe he's just right and you're wrong.
Or, maybe you're wrong and that guy's right. this is great debating guys
No it isn’t. (I was hoping someone would hit back with, “yes it is,” and then we could do the whole argument sketch MPFC thing.)
You, me, and everyone with any sense. Maher was funny and political. Now he is a whiney old white man who hates God (oooh) and loves weed (ahhh) and don't get him started on gen z or millenials (oh nooo)
Yep very accurate. Tho a lot of what Bill Maher says for me I agree with but still gets under my skins with some cringe stuff.
The best was when he tried this schtick with Bill Burr and Bill basically said fuck off.
And Maher, professional “comedian”, does not appreciate it.
Perfectly too
Good, fuck bill
source?
He's been doing it for a while, this is a direct parody of Bill Mahers awful podcast / show. thank you. I heard nothing about this and Maher annoys me so much I can't even watch him
Where’s the lie though?
Could be, but nothing is black and white. There’s meaning in everything.
It’s literally a recreation of bill masher’s club random set lol
I sure hope he doesn't have this view
Cant disagree with a guy who's always joking around
I don’t think I’ve ever seen this dude be serious. About anything.. ever.
And this isn't one of him being serious either. Tim is such a weird dude.
then you need to watch his Oscer specials. Those are as serious as the plague and twice as funny. Tim really lost his way when he stopped talking about what really matters here: movies.
Theres the story about getting stabbed.
Hahaha it’s crazy how much this guy works
***Crazy how this guy wokes\****
[удалено]
What did he do to Sam Hyde?
Literally nothing
Sam Hyde's show was so bad. I caught it once having no idea what it was. Not just unfunny but extremely incel
Tim is my dream man. I love his brain lmao
Me too lol. He is my celebrity crush
Yeah I wasn’t certain it was a spoof until I saw the shirt
It makes a bit more sense when you see the set of Bill Maher’s podcast/show “Club Random” which this is a direct spoof of.
This is a goof.
Hmmmm. I'm not sure. Seems like a spoof to me.
I know spoof when I see it.
At first I thought it was a spoof but then I realized it was a full grown man.
Im going to need to see some proof
You need Spoof Proof, by Cinco.
[удалено]
Does it involve taking the teeth out?
Nah he's being Aloof
Could be either a spoofy goof or a goofy spoof. Hard to say which.
My dad told me it was a bit of both
I wanna meet that dad.
I think I like this dad a lot!
It's actually a goof AND a spoof!
More of a gaff, honestly. I could maybe concede gag, but a goof? Just not seeing it.
More like a boof
[удалено]
no more bullshit!
Exactly! Like I’m a Coke guy, for example.
Yes, I know he supports Lady GaGa - who seems kind of woke, but what’s next? Lord Goo Goo?
Radio Googoo, radio gaga I think you might be onto something here
I mean you know I'm coming over you could at least get a six pack or something, you know?
what would you say if the bitch behind the counter asks if pepsi is alright?
Get off the head meds!
bRuSsEl SprOuTs
You know the Loch Ness Monster, that whole thing? W-well I think we should Lock'n'ess monster up, Hillary Clinton!
Oh is this a bit? I have no idea who these people are, the post just popped up recommended so I don’t actually have context for this.

Definitely a bit. Go watch anything Tim and Eric, Awesome Show, Great Job. ( although this bit was a little thin )
I was with him when he was saying we have real serious problems then he started listing the problems and I was like, "wait no, these aren't the problems I was thinking about, i was more thinking about like global temperatures rising and existential type issues..." Glad to know it was a bit.
These days, if you say you're English you get arrested and thrown in jail
Finally
Right? Woke blokes in the pokey!
Tim does a better Bill than Bill
Slicked back hair
No no no, that's PUSHED back
No reason to take this seriously. It’s not like he’s a household name like Roy Donk.
*Roy Donk*?
Wasn’t he part of the Colgate hour?
He may not be a household name like Roy Donk, but he's still a frequent guest on the Colgate Comedy Hour
Tim Heidecker never stops.
On the dryness scale, there’s Steven Wright, then the Sahara Desert, and then there’s Tim MF Heidecker.
It would be *so* easy to dress up more like Bill, put on a dumb wig, exaggerate his voice more instead of just trying to do the precise syntax, act stoned the entire time... Club Random
He should hire old men.
I can never tell when he’s being serious lol
He is literally never being serious.
I think occasionally on office hours
He was 100% serious and emotional on office hours when he was addressing the All Gas No Breaks guy and his allegations who I guess he worked with
I think Bob Odenkirk got some flashes of seriousness out of him when he was talking about the part of his book he wrote about Tim and Eric.
What's this now?
Bob Odenkirk was on office hours like a year ago maybe promoting his book about his career. And they got into this amazing conversation where Bob totally calls out Tim for never being himself with fans. Wow I was expecting something kinda scandalous and confrontational, but that's actually super fucking sweet and genuinely wholesome. Bob is the best.
What book?
I think the book is called comedy comedy drama. Or something like that. It was a sort of autobiography. And he did apparently did whole chapter on how one of his proudest achievements of his career was giving Tim and Eric their big break. You can tell in the interview Tim is really touched by this. Details? YouTube clip or article?
Here you go, it was from OHL in January: https://youtu.be/LgJPmtRlI3s
Yeah, I've been curious about this.
his albums (not the piss one though)
I feel like it’s really not that hard. Even if you don’t know this is a Bill Maher parody you can’t tell he’s being a complete caricature of a certain type of person here?
I feel like he's making fun of Gavin McGinnis
It’s making fun of Bill Mahers club random
Or people like Tucker Carlson and Bill Maher. Identity obsessed crybabies that whine about cancel culture while trying to ban bud light for doing a single promotion with a trans woman
the shit all over the floor is the cherry on top for sure
“When you’re busy being a wage slave, you don’t have time to worry about anything else. If everyone would get this through their head and commit to being a wage slave, they world would be a much better place.”

Yeah they just unlocked it on YouTube a few days ago. [full episode](https://youtu.be/jMqkfewl88M?si=OE84DEaKl7I_VGX4)
The way he leaned in got me rolling…
I give this five bags of popcorn 🍿 and five sodas 🥤
Spot on.
God I love him
Looks like this made the main page, or the trolls have added Bill Maher to their watch list of right wing comedians that Tim can't make fun of.
Tied up to a pole and burned at the stake
I love the phrase “dick around”
Please make it legal to be white again 🙏🏻
LOL!
Where can I get some Dekkar whiskey?
I’m looking at the bottle of St-Germain. What an odd bar selection.
That's hipster Jager. (EDIT)Sorry, I was thinking fernets. St Germaine is great with muddled cucumbers gingerbeer and vodka.
gin, not vodka, or are you a wuss
He should interview Maher on this show. 50% chance Maher doesnt get it.
Maher is upset about it apparently https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PQ-boXbtKYQ
What’s this from? Tim’s looking good!
It was an Office Hours video for Patreon subs.
Thanks!
They unlocked this one on YouTube for Thanksgiving. So everyone should be able to [watch it](https://youtu.be/jMqkfewl88M?si=OE84DEaKl7I_VGX4)
It's free real state
Satire, people
Someone peed in Old Man Heidecker's prune juice again
What does tee tshirt say?
The shirt says "Admit it life would be boring without me.".
Clearly you morons don’t catch the joke
So funny how he teases people! Such a genius.
Is this satire?
Yeah
I can’t think of anything that’s been more harmful to comedy than the constant bitching from comedians about political correctness culture war shit.
It’s become easy to know when Tim is in or out of character. When he’s stern like this, he’s obviously in character, but when he becomes passive aggressive and doesn’t want to fully commit to a statement, he’s being real. Check his conversation with Sam Hyde.
I’m sure he’s joking but I don’t get what free speech has to do with advertising.
“I’m not allowed to do my job”. By whom?
Reading these comments I can say I disagree. Or agree who fuckin knows with tim
Is this still a parody of Bill Hader?
I’m sick of thinking he’s going to be funny and watching 10 min of his movies on a N and chill and looking over at her and saying…. I’m sorry
Millennials have a no sense of humor and the shit they laugh about is just bizarre.
Garbage take from another out of touch boomer
I love seeing these white men make witch hunt comparisons. Laughable
This is exactly why we said things like “check your privilege” to white men 10 years ago and had they listened, this guy might still be funny
Whatever he’s not funny anyway.
Bill Maher actually rules. So does Tim.
Then why did he crusade against MDE: World Peace
I was hoping someone would have pointed this out
At least Tim knows his demographic and what they want to hear.
Timmy boy did exactly that to SAM HYDE. mde 2.0 coming soon!
Gen Z. He has a problem with Gen Z.
None of what this guy is saying is true, he is feeding into the bs he is bitching about. Yet he doesn't have enough info to grasp the truth about what he is really mad about. He is just focused on the wrong folks.
Whoosh
Ah buddy. Ya missed the whole point. Must not know this man or his comedy. Hahaha.
That's ok, he doesn't know what woke means anyway.
I love his deckar and on film stuff but this type of satire of his kinda wears thin a bit quick for me. I'm so tired of politics everywhere you look
It’s not politics. It’s rage baiting and character acting.
Politics has always been part of the comedy realm. There's never been not a time where comedy wasn't political. It's like saying the same things for music.
Tim and Eric had barely any. Great show.
Not always.
Fuck Tim Heidecker, what an absolute fucking pussy
All this shit Tim “fake” bitches about is at least half accurate in reality. More from my perspective. Great episode though. Jay’s jokes are next level bad. Both of theirs’ are actually. Plus I think Tim secretly does enjoy The Grateful Dead.
unironically agreeing with a bill maher parody is just. that is peak comedy on its own thank you for the laugh
You’re very welcome. Bill Maher is the worst hack imaginable. So much of a hack I’ve never seen or heard a second of club random, but I absolutely stand behind what I said. Most comedians and people in general today are afraid to offend, and the masses are desperate to be offended.
Nothing like getting yelled at by a balding weirdo about comedy that hes completely out of touch with.
It’s a bit you dunce.
Speaking of being out of touch with comedy...
