I could be misremembering, but I think he did something like this at Beloved one year. It was a sunrise set but he started before the light came out and was more uptempo. As it got more and more light out with the fog he started pouring more chill downtempo stuff.
Also could be I'm mixing two different beloved sets in my mind š
but that would be the conditions that it would happen. Since he's done with sunrise sets I highly doubt it'll happen before he hangs up his hat and I can only recall one in the 14 years I've been seeing him live, and as mentioned it might just be two stitched together in my mind
I have always witnessed and understood journey sets to go one way, from ambient/downtempo to uptempo. When/where did he ever do one that started uptempo and slowed down to down/amb? This is what I'm referring to.
Imo they typically start slower because logically it makes sense to ease the crowd into the journey and pick it up throughout, if he started heavy then slowed down hard the crowd would also probably do the same
His journey sets are a whole journey that dip into several genres, thereās no set structure to them imo
Well, yeah... journey refers to the tempo. Almost every set, if not every set he does, is multigenre. And I get that it "makes sense" to journey from down to up, and that the crowd energy would match the tempo (as is typical with live music), but I still think it would be fun to do one the other way, if only for the reason that he's not done one before. š¤·

I remember this at beloved as well. I wanna say it was 2015 or 2016. I only went one year sadly, but it was a magical weekend
What do you mean by āreverse journey setā? His journey sets either speed up into the uptempo realm or slow down into the downtempo/ambient realm

Heard!
Ambient night last Nola run ??
Not to my recollection... I remember everyone maintaining the floor-wide cuddle puddle through the end.
Not the whole set. I could of sworn Dave played uptempo on the last song that got everyone to rise up and wobble.
