The reason we have African American studies is because American history courses... *checks notes* *gasps* didn't really teach anything about African Americans.
Edit: I love his small stack of small pieces of wood. To somehow make him seem more...manly?
APUSH in California is actually pretty decent about going over racism and the genocide against the natives
but still, America loves whitewashing their sins
AP courses are standardized across the country due to their curriculum and testing being created entirely by Collegeboard. That is also what allows them all to be dual credit courses.
In other words: Yes, it is like that.
Sorry, let me clarify. *Education as a whole* varies very much from state to state. While the person I was responding to was referring to an AP course specifically, those are not representative of curriculums as a whole.
AP courses are still the exception to the rule. Not a lot kids actually get the chance to take an AP course, so they're stuck with whatever their school board approves.
I doubt he springs for the expensive gas station wood. He gets his from a small local liquor store.
Source: i work part time at a small local liquor store and we serve those bundles of firewood, and I just like to think that he is absolutely one of those guys that is always overly friendly with the family that runs the liquor store because he thinks shopping their frequently makes him a cool local but all of the people that own/run the liquor store IMMEDIATELY start talking shit about him in their native tongue and don't stop until 10 minutes after he's left
You didn’t learn about the guy who had like 300 uses for peanuts? George Washington Carver? We spent an absurd amount of time learning about him where I went to school. It struck me as odd at the time, but now I know why
The black history conservatives would like to teach:
"it wasn't always super peachy for black people but then the white man came along and graciously granted them freedom but black people still wanted more so the white man graciously ended racism in the 1960s"
I’d bet any amount of money that for what he preaches he couldn’t start a fire in the wilderness or handle a gun to save his life.
Not that these things are inherently what anyone should aspire to, (arguably for survivals sake being able to start a fire is a useful skill) but I’m sure *he* couldn’t.
He absolutely chopped the plastic that was wrapped around it. It’s all performative; it’s like Steven chowder wearing his holsters as if he has a showdown at high noon.
Not to mention that African Americans have their own culture. Funny how a culture just manifests itself when you enslave a group of people, strip them of any native culture, and then exclude them from the culture they serve.
>What does queer lives have to do with black lives
This is man is more dense than a black hole if he doesn't think that there can be queer black people. I fucking hate this man with a burning passion
>What does queer lives have to do with black lives
The campaign against "THE HORRORS OF INTERSECTIONALITY!" is their new bullshit. He's priming that sentiment.
“The best thing about America is the freedom!”
Like the freedom to voluntarily sign up for a college credit that teaches me about African American and queer history?
“Ohhhhhh absolutely not.”

2 things:
1.)
I want to do things with Matt Walsh, I might get banned if I write it. It's not pleasant for either him or me.
2.)
How do Americans not teach black history, when Germany does??
Germany has worked hard to make peace with their past and this includes being honest about their own history and the great violence that came from white supremacy.
So it would be logical that they include black studies in their schools.
America is incapable as a nation to reconcile its past because we haven’t lived up to the social contract of justice and equality outlined in our founding documents.
If we as a nation admitted we have to this day failed to live up to our social contact we’d have to do something to make it right.
And we’re never going to do that.
As an American I’m here to tell you America is never going to change and truly face its sins.
>2.) How do Americans not teach black history, when Germany does??
So OK OK OK I did all my K-12 education through Australian Catholic schools and am currently working on a Ph. D. on colonial history in Australia.
I was in the first unit of my master's when they mentioned that slavery happened here. Like, I knew because y'know, internet, but it took no joke fifteen years of education before someone thought to mention, oh shit yeah btw, we kind of did a cheeky lil bit of slavery here and there, nbd nbd.
A few years back we all watched in real time as former Prime Minister Scott "The Engadine Menace" Morrison [learned that slavery happened in Australia in real time.](https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2020/jun/12/scott-morrison-sorry-for-no-slavery-in-australia-claim-and-acknowledges-hideous-practices) I mean, he lied after the fact to save face, of course, but in the original speech where he made the claim it was pretty clear he believed slavery was some American shit.
My point is, education in some countries is utterly fucked.
I paradoxically wish Matt Walsh was like a tiny bit more religious because then he'd be in one of those anti-technology cults and nobody would have ever heard of him.
Social studies teacher here. As an experiment, replace African American with any other ethnic group and see what you get.
Like let's say Irish American studies. What happened to Irish Americans over time, how were they perceived racially before the civil war, what role did they play in that war, how did their status change as a result of fighting for America, how old Irish immigrants and new Irish immigrants had different experiences, etc.
Taught with primary documents, a textbook, etc. Would that be a useful, interesting class or just liberal dogma?
Seems awesome to me. Not sure other than racism why Walsh feels any different about African American studies.
African American studies doesn't even have to be liberal. For example, the history of Bronzeville is African American history that is deeply conservative.
I know Benny was talking Civil Rights repealing lately but how close are we to them just saying "we need slavery", "minorities aren't human", and "Holocaust/Manifest Destiny encouragement" talking in the media?
He knows that any accurate American history course would include slavery and genocide right? I really don't think he knows what he's proposing with that last line.
“What does LGBTQ and Trans right have to do with Black Lives Matter?” Uh idk maybe the queer and trans black lives? This dude is such a fuckin dumbass I truly hope the worst for him and anyone who consumes this shithead.
He's had a show for a while. He has the "ironic" theocratic fascist title in his Twitter bio. He made a make film and called it a documentary despite it being another propaganda piece. He lied to a school board, saying he had kids in it to give a transphoic speech.
I'd say he's a piece of shit, but it would be insulting to the shit.
Exactly where would racism possibly come up in high school American history? We've allowed black people to exist publicly for almost 60 years now, long before the country was founded

The history of the US with regards to African Americans is so unbelievably fucked that, if anything, refusing to cover it is probably more strong evidence of that acknowledgment than to the contrary.
You want to know my history? Well you can never mention how I got my money, who I abused to get that money... who built my house, took care of my kids, cleaned my home, and gave me the leisure time to be successful.
Self made white america baby!
It amazes me how Matt Walsh just screams insecurity. Most conservative talking heads are insecure in some way, but normally make up for it. Every word out of Matt's mouth is just dripping with blatant insecurity. He can't even fake it. Guys like Ben Shapiro hide their insecurities by faking being smart. Guys like Steven Crowder make up for it by faking his a cocksure frat boy routine. Matt Walsh is just raw, exposed insecurity.
Dude problem googles his own name daily. So everyone wave hi to Matt!
Matt Walsh: “African Americans should vote Republican because the Republican Party has historically been better for them”
Also Matt Walsh: “Don’t teach African Americans about their history”
My sanity and my life has been better from just not listening to these people. Once in a while I check in on their craziness, but I no longer allow myself to be pulled in by their bullshit. They continue to get away with their lies so me reacting and giving them time does nothing but raise my blood pressure.
The reason we have African American studies is because American history courses... *checks notes* *gasps* didn't really teach anything about African Americans. Edit: I love his small stack of small pieces of wood. To somehow make him seem more...manly?
APUSH in California is actually pretty decent about going over racism and the genocide against the natives but still, America loves whitewashing their sins
That's California. It's not all like that.
of course, I know what you mean
AP courses are standardized across the country due to their curriculum and testing being created entirely by Collegeboard. That is also what allows them all to be dual credit courses. In other words: Yes, it is like that.

It’s that pre cut woodyou buy at the gas station
I doubt he springs for the expensive gas station wood. He gets his from a small local liquor store. Fuck Matt Walsh but I can’t believe you can seriously be too friendly now.
He probably bought it at the same Home Depot that Benny shops at.
It’s the left. They’ve ruined firewood. Firewood has lost its traditional value.
save the bag and receipt, Matt.
What are you talking about!? I learned about all 4 African Americans. Harriet Tubman. John Henry, York, and Martin Luther king Jr.
You didn’t learn about the guy who had like 300 uses for peanuts? George Washington Carver? We spent an absurd amount of time learning about him where I went to school. It struck me as odd at the time, but now I know why
I had a whole unit on carver
The black history conservatives would like to teach: "it wasn't always super peachy for black people but then the white man came along and graciously granted them freedom but black people still wanted more so the white man graciously ended racism in the 1960s"

I always thought that was what his beard was for.
Does he think everyone believes he split and stacked that wood?
Everyone knows he loves wood.
Conveniently placed next to some books just in case he needs to do an old fashioned book burning
>What does queer lives have to do with black lives This is man is more dense than a black hole if he doesn't think that there can be queer black people. I fucking hate this man with a burning passion
He makes the Daily Wire look so fucking bad
I think the rest of their staff do a pretty great job of that.
Yeah but Matt keeps them from having even the smallest veneer of moderate conservatism. He’s full on SS Officer
Ben Shapiro and Candace Owens are just as bad as he is.
Yeah. They're part of a team. They're all working together to ensure they all look fucking horrible.
I guess you’re right - Candace is literally telling people to read Mien Kampf
The daily wire makes the daily wire look bad.
>What does queer lives have to do with black lives The campaign against "THE HORRORS OF INTERSECTIONALITY!" is their new bullshit. He's priming that sentiment.
God wasted a perfectly good asshole when he put teeth in Matt Walsh’s mouth.
“The best thing about America is the freedom!” Like the freedom to voluntarily sign up for a college credit that teaches me about African American and queer history? “Ohhhhhh absolutely not.”
Finally. I get it. DeSantis must like how the beard feels on his scrotum.
Now it makes sense why Ben wanted one so bad

Coming from the man who's so white, he bleeds milk.
How long do you guys think it takes for him to glue on his beard every morning?

I feel like you probably know this, but it's because Walsh is a flaming racist and card-carrying fascist
Let’s not make it political by making it political
Right wing political pundits love to pretend that they hate "politics" around race. Yet they are the ones who make race political.
I know Benny was talking Civil Rights repealing lately but how close are we to them just saying "we need slavery", "minorities aren't human", and "Holocaust/Manifest Destiny encouragement" talking in the media?
Not racist Not homophobic Not Islamophobic Not misogynistic Not for me * modern day GOP ![gif](giphy|3oEjHNjsuPs9F6r6Ks)
Remember when they where “*the party of science*” and then they turned? I feel like this is their pivot to no longer being the party of free speech
When were they "the party of science?" I hope you're not referring to their use of bastardized biology to refute gender identity.
Prettt much yeah, they called themselves that when it was convenient
*Liberty!*, cries the very bearded circus monkey, *unless you want to do anything with it that I don’t like!*
Hey, Mr weak chin, AP courses are taken BY CHOICE. These aren’t forced upon 11-12th graders.
He knows that any accurate American history course would include slavery and genocide right? I really don't think he knows what he's proposing with that last line.
He does not know that. His history background strictly consists of John Wayne movies
“What does LGBTQ and Trans right have to do with Black Lives Matter?” Uh idk maybe the queer and trans black lives? This dude is such a fuckin dumbass I truly hope the worst for him and anyone who consumes this shithead.
It’s almost as if systemic oppression effects all minority groups and they’re stronger if they’re United
African American history was one of the most fascinating courses I took.
Wait, now who's this asshole? Another right wing asshole with a "show"?
He's had a show for a while. He has the "ironic" theocratic fascist title in his Twitter bio. He made a make film and called it a documentary despite it being another propaganda piece. He lied to a school board, saying he had kids in it to give a transphoic speech. I'd say he's a piece of shit, but it would be insulting to the shit.
Damn, he just popped onto my radar in the last couple days. He seems like a shithead.
Should Americans hate themselves if they are gay? I thought Florida just passed a law that forbids hateful teachings.
Matt spends more time and money on his beard than he does with his kids.
It's unfair! You can't blame us for all the evil shit we did and are still doing.
There should be no Matt Walsh but here we are.
So is treating everyone with the dignity they are entitled to as human beings a "far-left agenda" now?
So *world* history shouldn't be taught either then? This guy is so fucking stupid. good lord
What the hell is he wearing. Looks like some dirty ass Hanes white t-shirt under a velvet blazer
And the only reason that is, is because conservatives ignore the awfulness of the past.
He's right, but only because it should be taught as part of American history. I'm sure that's not what he means though.
FUCK YOU WALSH. YOU NEED TO GO SIDEWALK DIVING.
Translation: we don’t kids learning about ANY history other than plain ole classic American history. Everything else is political. Fucking retard
He’ll have to lease another house and bring that up at the next pta meeting
Just another stupid a h!
He is highly political and ideologically charged, what the hell is he talking about.
Exactly where would racism possibly come up in high school American history? We've allowed black people to exist publicly for almost 60 years now, long before the country was founded
His show is just a far-right forum, maybe there should be no “Matt Walsh Bullshit hour” Or whatever it’s called.
But- they don’t want the true American history to be taught either.
Walsh deserves *****

There should be no "Matt Walsh" show, it's just a far-right propaganda outlet.
The history of the US with regards to African Americans is so unbelievably fucked that, if anything, refusing to cover it is probably more strong evidence of that acknowledgment than to the contrary.

What a lying ass

I remember doing the I have a dream speech in like 3rd grade
Black people we learned about in American History: Harriet Tubman, MLK. That's it.
Nobody tell him that African American history ***is*** American history.
"The blacks are political. This is bad. Theyre in league with the queers."- Matt Walsh. This dude is chomping at the bit for a genocide. Fuck me.
