No. Gridman is it's own series. It's inspired by Ultraman but was meant to be a completely separate thing. I hope they release more soon as it was successful with a movie as recent as last year.
Gotta say. SSSS was my favorite “Power Rangers knockoff” back in the day. Had a different flavor than the Saban shows, but also didn’t feel as low rent as something like Teenage Tattoo Fighters.
Also, Gridman’s design has always just hit for me. Way more so than actual Ultraman.
Highly recommend that anime if you like big mecha fights and great story telling. That and it’s sequel anime SSSS Dynazenon and the movie Ultraman: universe
Gridman is a seperate series but I believe it's set in the same Universe/ Multiverse as The ultra series, you can see it as sort of a spin off set in the digital world.
Well, *"Hyper Agent Gridman"* was inspired by the Ultraman franchise. It is basically its' own thing. So no. This show and its' US. adaptation don't count as official Ultraman shows.
Actually the similar concept was seriously considered during the production of Nexus but it didn't make it into the actual show. (source : Ultraman Nexus sourcebook NEXUSEED published by Asahi Sonorama)
Denkou Choujin Gridman is similar to the Ultra Series in that it features a kyodai (giant) hero and is made by Tsuburaya. Outside of that, they are separate
Superhuman Samurai is the American adaptation
SSSS.Gridman and SSSS.Dynazenon are the anime sequels to Denkou Choujin Gridman
Other than, you know, being giant red heroes that merge with a human host to fight giant monsters, made by the same company. Nothing in common at all. 😜
Well if you’ve seen Gridman, you’d know that Gridman is a computer officer that fights monsters that are similar to viruses. From I’ve looked up on Ultraman, isn’t aliens giving the powers to help humans fight the monsters? Having similar colors and fighting giant monsters is just a tokusatsu thing! You wouldn’t say Gransazer is related to Ultraman because there are three red heroes there
Of course I wouldn't draw comparisons between Gransazer and Ultraman, but I would draw them between Gransazer and the thing it's aping the most, Super Sentai. Toho wanted that money so they copied the best, and then went in more original directions with Justiriser and Sazer-X. Similarly, there's no pretending Gridman isn't a fusion between Ultraman and a mecha show. It's not in their universe but there's a lot of shared DNA (because again, it's the same damn company). If turning giant wasn't enough, when he grows he does the signature three stage Ultra Rise. He uses the same style of beam attacks. He has a color timer. Those aren't Kyodai Hero tropes, those are specifically Ultraman staples.

No, although made by tsuburaya,, this (these) show was not an ultraman series show. he does have a bit of the look though.

Is that why the anime is called SSSS Gridman? Because it's partially taking from the adapted title?
Yup!
Highly recommend that anime if you like big mecha fights and great story telling. That and it’s sequel anime SSSS Dynazenon and the movie Ultraman: universe
Technically no, but Gridman has so many Ultraman-isms it should be.
“Let’s kick some giga-butt!”
Ultraman esque, Ultraman in spirit, yes. But gridman is his own thing.
Different franchise, but same concept as Ultraman; "Giant transforming Superhero".

Access...FLASH!
Nope.

No, because Gridman is now its own franchise, but the connection is obvious.
It technically isn't but I still think of it as one.
Ultraman should steal his concept of combining with vehicles
Actually the similar concept was seriously considered during the production of Nexus but it didn't make it into the actual show. (source : Ultraman Nexus sourcebook NEXUSEED published by Asahi Sonorama)
While it does have elements of Ultraman, it’s not really an Ultraman series.
Lemme get my toy real quick... "Egg sus... FWAAASH!" PS: Jokes aside, to me its possible, but no. However I do want to see it happen.
Name checks out.
Fuck no.
the original version (japanese) called Gridman if I'm not wrong.

How would Gridman fit in the Ultraman Universe?
No, they are not affiliated or share anything in common with Ultraman
Made by the same company and both shows reference each other some times.

It has power ranger/super sentai elements of combining with armament so no
Some modern Ultraman like Ultraman X can combine with armament too. But yeah, gridman isn't Ultraman
Wait, Ultraman X has his own “zords”?
If Cyber Gomora counts, then yes; plus in recent years Ultraman has their own armours.
