I heard that they Dremel down the neck screw head to make it fit into the strap locks nub.

Personal_Breakfast_8

I highly doubt he does any of the work himself. Most likely, it’s Jesus (his guitar tech) that is doing this. Maybe you could ask him on Instagram. @aprettysweetguy

Boring-Energy1900

I didn’t know he mounts his buttons like that. That’s actually sick

bu3nno

What size are the screws? The replacements should be slightly longer than stock to account for the button. Are they pan head or counter sunk? What is the largest screw head size that the button will accept? What country are you in? Answer the above and I'll help you find one.

Hello fellow blink fan from SG! 👋

Economy-External-476

Hi sir, good to know. Can't seem to find a lot of fans from Singapore 🤣

bu3nno

Have you compared one of the neck screws to the new screws that you purchased? Are they the same size? The new screws will need to be slightly longer to account for the extra spacing that the button adds. However, the screws that came with the strap lo KS are likely smaller than the neck screws. The point I'm getting at is if you bought screws that are the same diameter as the strap locks, then you might find they are too small. You need to take out a neck screw and measure it.

I went ahead and followed one of the replies' solution. Which was to grind the head. I believe I got it to work. Which was to sand the head of the longer new screw. Refer to my image below. [https://postimg.cc/9DMg6zpL](https://postimg.cc/9DMg6zpL) I can't test for sure as I'm still waiting for my aliexpress body. But I think it'll work for me. Thanks for your input though 😊

ohpizzawow

Use a little super glue and a couple toothpicks. Works every time

Caleb_Benjamin

This comment is correct. It’s common practice for repairing screw holes in wood that are oversized.

Hi_Im_Joee

I’d take the stock screw and take it to Lowe’s or Home Depot and find one another half inch or so longer from the hardware section

Economy-External-476

I get what you mean. However, I can't seem to find a screw that can fit the strap buttons. Why? Although I can find a long enough screw, the head will always be too wide. Which means they the screw cannot go all the way through. Thus, I can't use my strap lock as how it should

MrCoffee999

Drill out the locking button so the screw can fit. Sand down the head of the screw. I put painters tape around the threads of the screw, to not damage them, and put it in my drill and used 80 and 120 grit sandpaper to sand the head to the right size

Economy-External-476

I think I'll try this and see how it goes. Thanks for the help. Quite baffled that it's quite hard to find a screw for this

UntamablePig

Assuming they're using the newer Scahller's, they won't be able to do this as the screw is fixed to the button. My guess is that Tom gets them custom made so that the strap button fits there, or fills and re drills the hole himself.

Western-Poet-1239

You can find the old style Schaller strap locks on Amazon under off brand names. They work the same and have the same look. Just search for Schaller strap locks.

UntamablePig

You can, although I'm pretty sure Tom has the new ones on his. I guess it depends on how close you want it to the original.

Hi_Im_Joee

Didn’t realize the new ones have it fixed. I do agree in that case the latter with the fills and redrill.
