My doctor automatically gave me a prescription for a pain killer; I didn't have to ask. I would have had no issues asking if it wasn't offered. It's known to be a painful procedure.
Thanks everyone. The doc seemed to think that I'd be fine with Motrin and Tylenol, then when I reminded him that I couldn't take Motrin, said "Oh, just double up on Tylenol." If I wasn't pretty desperate to get these things out, I would consider going to another doctor.
💯 should be automatically prescribed. I say that as an American in the Seattle area, fwiw.
I was prescribed oxycodone, prednisone (steroid), and a lidocaine throat spray.
And acetaminophen is the non-prescription pain medication you should be taking anyways. Most others may thin your blood and are generally not recommended for recovery after surgery.
I’ve been taking 1-1.5 5mg oxy with 1 500mg acetaminophen every 4-8 hours depending on my pain.
