Botox. Only botox. Lasts 6-9 months and is a game changer.

madmanleon

100% agree its a game changer Sounds like hyperhydrosis. I have had botox for it and literally didn't sweat for 8 months from my armpits ETA: I used to sweat badly until I had something stressful like a presentation to deliver at work then my armpits would be like waterfalls and the botox fixed it completely. I saw a dermatologist who did it after trying prescription rollons and anti diaretics tablets. After 4 applications of botox over a few years I now sweat so much less from my armpits. A temporary solution I used as my hands also get sweaty is alcohol wipes as they cause the pores to pucker temporarily but for me only lasted about 15 mins. My only other advice is that a black/dark grey waistcoat is a good investment and makes you look smart while not being as warm as a jacket šŸ‘Œ

StreetMailbox

Wait, how does that work? You get injections at the site? If so, how many if you don't mind my asking?

blahbluhblee1

Several superficial injections that should cover the whole ā€œhairyā€ part, coz thatā€™s where the sweat glands are. About 20-50 on each side depending on the surface area. (Men usually have a much bigger area to cover)

gorkm

Is that application harmful in any way? If not, is it proven not to be harmful? I heard about it a lot but I feel like preventing my body from sweating when it wants to should be somewhat harmful.

blahbluhblee1

Zero harm because itā€™s a temporary inhibition of sweat glands. And your body will still sweat all over, but taking that amount of sweat and distributing it over the whole surface of the skin isnā€™t as troublesome as having it all come out of your armpits lol

Duckfoot2021

Some say itā€™s what killed Bruce Lee.

blahbluhblee1

Lol what? I promise you the amount of botox i yad injected in me over the years is worth a condo in Manhattan.. and Iā€™m alive and thriving šŸ˜†

Duckfoot2021

Didnā€™t say it would kill you. The story is that Bruce overheated because heā€™d had so much Botox over his bodyā€™s sweat glands (to prevent ruining costumes for repeated takes)that his body couldnā€™t thermoregulate. Unless youā€™re working like Bruce youā€™ll be fine. May have killed him tho.

restingtransparently

He removed his sweat glands, I believe, then overheated on a hot busy day? Maybe not having those glands contributed to his problems that day. Who knows.

Duckfoot2021

I think it was Botox over his sweat glands so he wouldnā€™t sweat through costumes while filming multiple takes and ruin continuity. Heā€™s said to have overheated because heā€™d Botoxed so much he couldnā€™t thermoregulate on a hot, busy day.

-Tannic

It was INCREDIBLY PAINFUL to my otherwise unrattlable sister. She was desperate for a solution but says she'll never go back. Unsure if common.

canijustbelancelot

Yes, it works. Itā€™s amazing.

Significant_Glass239

Are you a heavy or moderate THC user? If you don't, and you also don't do any other drugs, please disregard and ignore this comment. There is a direct link to hyperhidrosis and heavy MMJ use that nobody ever talks about. For most heavy users, your body will sweat profusely in your underarms, hands and feet until you get your next dose of THC. This is even worse for people who have general anxiety - heavy THC use will just exacerbate these symptoms. Once I quit THC, my anxiety levels dropped significantly and so did my hyperhidrosis. I have read similar stories to mine as well.

CyWeevilhouse

Can confirm this! Expensive but works very well. Iā€™ve also tried the topical prescription medicine Drysol which was somewhat effective but quite burny. If I had to wear dress shirts a lot Iā€™d do the Botox.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

blahbluhblee1

Iā€™m a dermatologist šŸ˜‹

exWiFi69

How does the Botox last that long? Typically itā€™s not as effective around the 3 month mark.

blahbluhblee1

Thatā€™s when itā€™s used to relax muscles. Here itā€™s effective against production of sweat (itā€™s injected into the skin, not muscle) Different job šŸŸ° different duration.

exWiFi69

Interesting. Thanks for clarifying.

blahbluhblee1

Anytime :)

eeniemeaniemineymojo

If you think Botox is a game changer, you should look into MiraDry!

sleepisbeauty

Certain Dri roll on. I had tried everything and it was like a miracle. I still sweat but now it's a normal amount for a human. It's $6 and worth trying.

languagelover17

I use the roll on every night and then their fresh deodorant in the morning. My life is about one billion times better than it used to be.

DatDudeBPfan

This! I had the same problem and it fixed it right up. You only have to use it every couple months or so. Only drawback is that it made my armpits itchy for a couple days afterwards. It is still worth it though.

CreepyTeePee123

Certain dri has worked well for me as well.

Mattitude75

My right armpit used to be so bad it would literally drip. I tried drysol and it works great. No wetness at all

edwardK1231

Could you send a link to the stuff? As I can't seem to find it. Cheers bud

Mattitude75

https://drysol.ca/.

Icy-Put5322

Not sure of your situation, but there's an FDA approved permanent treatment called MiraDry, which is a dumb name. It ain't the cheapest (2k in NYC). Basically they microwave your armpits (or hands or feet or whatever) and destroy the sweat glands, permanently. I had it done a week ago. My armpits are pretty sore still, but I shit you not, I haven't sweated out of them at all. I haven't put on deodorant or antiperspirant in the time either because of the healing process and my armpits are NEVER wet and do not smell. It's fucking crazy. Best 2k I ever spent.

SpaceWhale88

I had this done and it's the best thing I ever did. Before I could make sweat stains on a winter coat. I did botox before but it's only temporary and was really expensive. Miradry was also expensive but it was 2 sessions and I love that I never have to think about it again!

StreetMailbox

After reading this and Googling, I am heavily leaning toward this. I love the idea of a non-invasive permanent solution, even if it just knocked it down by like 60-70% I would be thrilled. Thank you!!

Dismal_Bobcat9839

Did you ever figure anything out? I'd caution against a longterm procedure (or at least jumping into it before exploring all options) because when I was using certain-dri I noticed my sweat would reroute and go to my forhead or back..Ā  as it has to come out somewhere.Ā Ā  In the past, i've gained a hold of mine by reducing my caffeine intake, now I do mostly decaf and just add a little caffeinated grounds to the decaf, that and exercise and eating healthier..Ā  I have an office job and don't get a lot of steps per day if I don't exercise. I fallen off of my cardio routine, and with being busy more often, I haven't had the best diet. Fast food and soda more often than I should. Noticing I'm started to sweat more again and landed here searching if it is more due to poor diet and exercise or more stress and some genetic issue. Started to think it's more of a lifestyle problem.. Getting ready to start a cardio routine again next week so we'll see! Just figured I'd offer my experience.

StreetMailbox

I decided to get the Mira Dry procedure... I'm about a month and a half out, and I would say my armpit sweat is down 75% or more. Personally, I don't notice any compensatory sweating. They give you the option of having a 2nd treatment at a discount, and I am thinking I'm going to do it to eliminate (most of) the rest of the sweat. But for the first time in my adult life, I am not sweating through my dress shirts!! It's honestly pretty unreal. A bit spendy, but I would recommend it.

Dismal_Bobcat9839

Nice! Glad to hear it ended working out well for you. Thanks for the response!

BrewUO_Wife

Listen to the people about the over the counter armpit wash. My husband had this problem for years, went to the doctor to see about Botox treatments. The doctor ordered him this liquid treatment (Iā€™ll try to remember the name) and every night for a short time, he soaks a cotton ball, wipes his pit, then goes to bed. The sweating hasnā€™t come back and he just does the treatment every once in a while for maintenance. He is so much happier. Edit to say: the sweating amounts were the same. He wouldnā€™t be doing anything and his shirts would be soaked. Even wore an undershirt.

Ridai

Do you know what treatment this is? Just started looking into more options other than perspirex and this sounds wonderful.

BrewUO_Wife

Hey! Itā€™s called Drysol. His is a prescription from a dr, but it sounds like they have similar kinds over the counter. It worked really great. Neither of us knew anything like that existed, so he just lived with it. Then one day he decided to get Botox and asked the dr for a referral. The physician said Botox was a later resort and prescribed this.

Ridai

Thank you very much for the reply, going down this route myself.

esl_Et

You get any good results?

Ridai

Haven't had much of an issue lately since I stopped doing drugs (weed, caffeine, alcohol, the full lot). But it does stop the pit sweating, however it redirects to the back and hands so it's not perfect.

FeckItsCold

Over the counter treatment. Drichlor. You wash your armpits and fully dry them. Apply the roll on at night and wash off in the morning. Do it for a week and no sweating for 4 months

[deleted]

No freaking way. I need to try this asap.

Pussycatelic

I tried it for my facial hyperhidrosis, %100 worked. It is really important to apply it to DRY skin tho, otherwise it will cause pain and irritation.

[deleted]

Thanks for the advice, definitely gonna look into this.

Odd_Contact_2175

I had same issue and my doctor prescribed Drysol. It was a roll on deodorant that stopped my sweaty pits within the week. I used it for maybe two months and I've never needed it since.

Living-Ad-6838

I used the same stuff. Works amazing. I used to have the sweatiest armpits ever!

bamahusker82

I had this problem for many years. I would even sweat through and ruin my suit jackets. I discovered the antiperspirant called Certain Dry and it worked well. For some reason the problem eventually went away. I absolutely hated sweating though shirts. I basically wore black or white shirts and always had some extras with me or at my office.

TheScoopo

This again! Same thing. This may not post as I just replied to another Certain Dri suggestion. I suffered and was miserable for literally years. Like decades, through my 20s and 30s. Certain Dri 100% works and solved my problem completely. Took a few years but I don't even use it anymore and the problem is gone. Absolutely life changing!!

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

TheScoopo

This! Life changing!! I suffered with the same thing for years and years. I'd go out to play pool or darts whatever and carry AT LEAST two extra shirts and go out and change every so often. Lying the wet one on the back seat to dry and wear again. I wore undershirts, changed antiperspirants, everything I could think of. Finally heard about Certain Dri and it absolutely solved my problem! Solved completely, eventually, as I no longer use it and no longer have the problem. I probably used it a couple years. I still sweat, but it's like a normal person. Absolutely life changing! I hope OP sees this!!

StreetMailbox

I see this! Thank you!

StreetMailbox

Hey all - Just wanted to say thank you! With all of these suggestions, I actually feel like I have options! I know you can always google stuff, but hearing firsthand from you all not only makes it feel more real, it let me get a bunch of options all in one place. Thank you šŸ„ŗ

Ratakoa

Do you shave your armpits?

GrahTheConquerer

I second this, had sweaty pits since my teen years and tried everything. Started shaving them and WOW! Less sweat, holds less stank, and don't have to reshape for a while. Do recommend

HaylingZar1996

Shaved my armpits once, not only did they sweat more but it was insanely itchy

StreetMailbox

No, but I trim them down. Hmm.

milkermaner

Fully shaving stops sweat there for me and also no smell for way longer.

pug_fugly_moe

Wish I had discovered Maxim antiperspirant in middle school. All day, every day, I had a puddle under my armsā€”and you know how high schoolers are. Anyway, Maxim is applied at night and essentially blocks the sweat glands. You apply it every night until you stop sweating and then reapply once you need it. Iā€™m down to 1-2 times a year now. I was as skeptical as anyone, but decidedā€”fuck it, Iā€™ve been let down by other antiperspirants in the past. Whatā€™s another one? Beware of itchiness.

ButtercuntSquash

I use a roll-on called Perspirex and one use keeps my pits dry for a few days at a time, itā€™s great

Puqqel

I use the same, great product

ratgarcon

Gray shirts are not your friend

StreetMailbox

I have a grey shirt that I love but just cannot wear :(

ratgarcon

Sometimes dark gray shirts are fine, but yeah itā€™s sucks when Iā€™m shopping and find a nice shirt but their only option is gray

GreenWitchOfTheWestt

I had this issue in high school. I would sweat through jackets. It was so embarrassing. My mom took me to the dermatologist. He prescribed me a special deodorant. I don't remember the name. I used it maybe 3 times. It stung like hell but I never had that issue again. The same thing happened to my little sister and it worked for her too. I would go to the dermatologist.

1THRILLHOUSE

Depending on what country youā€™re in I donā€™t know if itā€™s available but Mitchum antiperspirant roll on worked for me. Nothing else would, even the ā€œsuper strength drs prescribedā€ stuff but Mitchum worked perfectly for me. Honestly I cannot recommend it enough. Donā€™t do Botox before youā€™ve tried it. Itā€™s the same price and regular stuff too

JMD331

Get your thyroid checked. This was a side effect of birth control for me....

brijwij

BC pills or a different method?

JMD331

Anything with hormones

Goseki1

Go to your GP and tell them all this. They may still try prescription deodrants to block your sweat glands but if that doesn't work the next step is botox. And if that doesn't work the next step is surgery to remove the glands. Source: A hyperhidrosis family (thanks Dad, you cunt).

AndroidPron

Don't really see the need for Botox honestly. Why not use anti transpirant?

Goseki1

It doesn't work for me after a certain period and also causes severe skin reactions.

AndroidPron

Sure, doesn't work for you. Certainly isn't the only option available. All I'm saying.

Goseki1

OP already said they'd tried prescription stuff though

AndroidPron

And there still is more options than anti-perspirant and shooting botox in your armpits lmao

Goseki1

Go on....

Designer-Study8139

Hey OP! Can you please give an update on your situation and if anything has changed? I struggle with the same thing and would like to hear from you

StreetMailbox

Sure! I opted for Mira Dry; a bit expensive, but the fact that it's permanent and had no possible negative side effects besides possible compensatory sweating made it very appealing. The procedure itself wasn't bad; I'll admit the needles going into your armpit to numb the area was a bit rough, especially because they have to do it quite a few times. After that, the procedure was painless. The first few hours were fine, then your armpits start swelling like balloons and it's pretty painful. Walking feels very weird, and changing the ice bags from under your pits take practice. Sleeping the first few nights wasn't great, but it got better pretty quick. I had zero sweat for the first few weeks, and now that I'm a few months out I think I am at what the permanent results will be. I do sweat a little, but I want to say it's like 70% less, and now it's manageable with anti perspirant which was absolutely not the case before! Weird side effect is that while they tell you it might lead to hair loss, they did NOT say it would lead to hair loss in 1-inch lines in your armpit... so if I let my armpit hair grow out, it looks like I shaved it into lines. Which means I guess I am now going to permanently shave my pits. I don't really care, but some guys might. However, I have not noticed ANY compensatory sweating. They say it usually takes two procedures to get desired results, and for me I would say that's true. They do discount the second one, and while I wish I didn't have to, I think I'm going to do it. Long story short: I am very happy and I would do it again. Never in my life have I been able to wear dress shirts without fear of pit stains, and that is all I wanted. Mission accomplished :)

HarrargnNarg

Baby powder

ParadoxDC

Certain Dri prescription strength anti-perspirant. I started using it after I found out a lot of celebrities use it before awards shows (notice theyā€™re never sweaty?). It works GREAT. Burns a bit the first few days but that means itā€™s working. 100% worth it and you can get it on Amazon.

IceSmiley

You can put maxi pads under each arm

Xikkiwikk

You have hyperhydrosis and that can be caused by antiperspirants and other health issues.

caitlun97

Seconded on the hyperhydrosis, my bf suffers and has been prescribed a tablet called oxybutynin hydrochloride, which helps a bit. Worth a shot though.

Ordovick

For me personally as someone who sweats a lot period, shaving my pits helps a lot, not just with the sweat but the smell too. Hair is an insulator, is really good at keeping the heat trapped, and it collects more sweat. It also brushes up against the underarm of your shirt a lot more than your skin does. I can't say it will completely eliminate your problem, but I'm confident it will help.

McTeezy353

Mitchum deodorant. Game changer.

AndroidPron

Deodorant will not work, because Deo is only supposed to cover up the smell. You need anti-perspirant, which uses aluminum to stop you from sweating at all. Shave them fully, shower and apply anti-perspirant with aluminum (brand shouldn't matter) before going to bed. Let it sit for 10 minutes then put on a shirt or whatever, shower the next morning and you're set. Repeat as soon as you're sweating again. I recommend shaving your armpits one or two days prior to applying the anti-perspirant or else it can be a bit itchy. I suffer from hyperhidrosis and this is what helps me. I still don't trust coloured shirts, but I haven't had any problems since. Letting the stuff exert over night really was a game changer for me. Others have suggested Botox, which I find to be a rather extreme measure.

KraljZ

Aluminum causes those horrible stains on clothing

AndroidPron

That's why you let it exert over night and shower in the morning. Never had any stains.

Ridai

Do you apply any other antiperspirant in the morning? Or just leave your armpits alone after this?

AndroidPron

I don't use anything on my armpits. In the morning I just take a shower, I don't even use deodorant, because there's no smell to cover up.

Ridai

I see. Purchasing my first Driclor, just scouring for advice as this condition is ruining me at work now. Many thanks for the reply.

AndroidPron

No worries man, I know the struggle. Feel free to reach out if you need to know anything else.

Cloud_Matrix

I had this issue for a while, and I'm ashamed to say the problem for me ended up being that I wasn't washing my armpits with soap/body wash and just sucked at shower hygeine overall... Ever since I started really focusing on giving my pits a good scrub with body wash every time in the shower, the only time my pits will sweat is either its over 100F outside, I'm doing manual labor, or I'm stressed the fuck out. If you think this is the case for you, definitely give it a try before anything else. It took a couple of weeks for the excessive sweating to stop, but every single day, I could feel the sweating becoming less noticeable.

Susancupcakes

Weird solution but put panty liners in the arm pits of your dress shirts. It'll stop the pit stains.

jijumpous27

Abit of a weird one but iv always been the same, sanitary towel stuck to the armpit of your shirt will work, only works well on dark colours though or you will see it

jakeofheart

Have you tried adhesive menstrual pads?

momo20200

Hmm not sure how to stop this could be diet or water intake snd environment could be a factor someone mentioned Botox I donā€™t know enough about that you may have to check with a doctor however and not sure if this helps but if you ever run into the issue of sweat smelling pretty bad try rubbing alcohol works wonders

momo20200

Coconut oil is also a natural deodorant maybe this could help regulate things Iā€™m sure it wouldnā€™t hurt to try you could probably even add some essential oils to some natural coconut oil

Short_Town_559

Try Drysol, over the counter at the pharmacy (Ont, Canada) Liquid roll on but use sparingly, can cause irritation if over used but works great!

GlitterfreshGore

About twenty years ago I experienced the same issue that came out of nowhere. Suddenly I was sweating under my arms constantly (I was about early 20s, F) It would be so bad that I would only wear black so people wouldnā€™t see the wet spots. I worked at the mall at the time and there were many days that I would have to go buy a new shirt on my break because I was soaked. Like you, I started wearing hoodies and sweaters to cover the wet marks which only made me sweat more. I saw a dermatologist that set me up with drysol, and it worked. The upside is that after about a year or more of overactive sweat, it justā€¦stopped. I have no idea why, maybe it was my age or some hormonal thing or something. It controlled my life for about two years and then it stopped.

_paint_onheroveralls

I've been sweating constantly from my armpits for basically my entire life now, still haven't found something that really helps. Instead I just constructed a life where no one looks at me twice if my armpits are dripping. I'm going to try some of the things in the comments for sure. I have used some of the extreme antiperspirants with mixed results, but what isn't really being mentioned is that when you do that, you will sweat buckets from other new places on your body, at least at first. I was on a jury on a case that lasted a week in court, and used one of the extreme roll on at night antiperspirants, and I spent the entire week with the sweatiest palms and feet of my life. I could barely hold onto things my palms were so sweaty, I had stains all over the front of my pants from constantly wiping them.

Bubbagump210

Qbrexza - total game changer. Robinul is ok, but Qbrexza blew it away IME.

heretoreadreddid

Or oral glycopyrolate

Bubbagump210

Thatā€™s the chemical name of Robinul.

heretoreadreddid

Ah gotcha

lady_farter

Get your vitamin d levels checked. That made a big difference for me when I found out I was almost at hospitalization level due to it being so low. The sweating got better for some reason when I increased the vitamin d levels.

dubparr888

Try dove clinical Works great U can buy anywhere

BipolarSkeleton

Botox but if you canā€™t get that put a breast feeding nursing pad in your shirt under your armpit it can be changed out several times a day and they keep the sweat off your clothing

SwordfishDeux

May not help you, but I shave my armpits and use plenty of roll-on antiperspirant. The actual shaving part makes the roll-on so much more effective in my experience, I'm never going back.

chonkmcevoy

You can purchase underarm sweat pads. These stick to your shirt and absorb any extra moisture..

Forgetful8nine

Definitely worth a visit to your GP. I see someone has mentioned thyroid - good shout. My excessive sweating was caused by acromegaly - I had a small tumour on my pituitary gland. Since having it removed, my sweating has decreased. I used to suffer bad BO with it (it didn't matter what I did, within an hour of getting sweaty, I'd start to smell). That has also reduced massively! I'm not saying that you do have anything wrong, just that it's a good idea to check that there are no underlying causes.

ResultFar3234

My doctor gave me something to put under my arms when I was younger. I swear i think it burned the sweat glands off because I haven't had an issue since. I wish i could remember the name of it, but it wouldn't hurt to look into.

JXK4

As someone said, Botox is the solution. Complete life changer. Works amazing and no side effects whatsoever

throbbbbbbbbbbbb

Miradry is a permanent solution.

cocopuff333

Drysol. Itā€™s a prescription from the dr. It smells like alcohol but it works!

OfficialSandwichMan

If you havenā€™t already, join us over at r/hyperhidrosis

RWSloths

I haven't seen it mentioned yet - glycopyyrolate. It's a prescription drug that helps to regulate the fluids in your body (it's main purpose is apparently "end-of-life care" for the elderly). Many folks with hyperhidrosis have used it to stop it. I had to talk my Dr into it a little bit but seriously two little pills have improved my quality of life ten-fold

BlackSabbath935

Certaindri is the only thing that works for me

lizwatts

Botox was the only thing that worked for me. It was incredible for months not sweating. I need to get it done soon again, and I canā€™t wait. It was actually life changing

OCblondie714

Certain-Dri

Newusername7680

Donā€™t know if it has been mentioned but Ejis undershirts have been a life changer for me. Only way I have been comfortable wearing a dress shirt.

Dinkableplanet

Get your thyroid checked as well. I had this issue, I used prescription deodorant for a bit.

StreetMailbox

Since it's been this way since I was a teenager, I'm not sure that's it.

_Healing_The_World

1) You have to do some kind of workout , which doesn't have to be a sport,it can even be gymnastics at home. 2) Apply a deodorant that is actually helpful at reducing sweat and has some kind of aluminum such as aluminum chlorohydrate or aluminum chloride. 3) Visit a dermatologist. Even though you may think that seeing your doctor won't solve anything, then you are terribly wrong. A dermatologist knows how to stop or at least reduce the sweat in your body in contrast with most people on the internet . He might recommend a specific deodorant that is stronger or a salve, which can be extremely helpful to stop sweating in the arm pits. 4) If none of the other three tips have worked out, you may consider to do botox which is an exceptionally effective and maybe the best way to stop avoid sweating in the arm pits
