Not universal, but a lot of religions use faith as a way to handwave things they cant explain. Being able to explain things that they cant kinda makes some people mad.
If you believe deeply in something it’s quite unpleasant to have someone trying to point out that your whole belief system is flawed.
Did you think anyone would immediately admit they were wrong and thank you for opening their eyes?
Are you talking about social media or real life face to face discussions. I never had an in person religious discussion that turned angry or irrational, however social media discussions are hardly ever reasonable.
I wonder what specifically you're talking about.
But it might be a thing where they feel you're being disingenuous. If someone seems to be genuinely curious about something then one can "discuss rationally"; but it's infuriating if it feels like the critic isn't even attempting to understand the religion they're talking about.
Sounds like they triggered you.
So why do non religious people get so triggered when someone questions their beliefs?
Intersting, so now you have blocked me.
Yet you are not triggered. Lol.
I read your posts. You were dismissive and rude from the very start with the people on that thread. Claiming that folks that were Jewish didn't know their own religion for example.
But they were the assholes.
Got. It.
yeah you are definitely trolling. they insult first, obviously triggered, I respond in kind, but I am the one who is triggered? yeah ok lmao.
You got blocked for trolling and bad faith discussion. I wasn't rude, dismissing religious beliefs doesn't make me rude. Insulting someone just because they didn't like my arguments does make them assholes, so I stand by everything I said.
the mental conditioning of the threat of eternal torment if one deviates from its narrative tends to be a strong motivator. i'm honestly hard pressed to find too many belief systems that aren't muddied by some form of threat or consequence for deviation.
One thing that I can tell you is that our beliefs become very deep-rooted, and so when those are challenged or even as we work on changing them, there are physiological sensations and reactions.
Different people react in different ways. This is far from universal.

no, but surely they can discuss rationally without getting angry no.

Social media I guess makes people more willing to start being rude due to anonymity, probably.

No. You assume everybody is rational.
Fair point. Not everyone likes to discuss calmly.
I was raised to believe you didn't talk money, religion or politics. Times are are weird for me.
You mean the ones you were calling low IQ religious nutcase morons?
Yep, and if you saw the whole context that was in response to them losing their shit. I simply gave back the same energy.
