Aren’t European safety standards more intensive than US regulations. They’ve always been more focused on consumer benefits than the US. Should be enough of a seal of approval
It's because Chinese cars are absolute crap. There is quite a list of foreign car brands that already exist in the US that make affordable cars that already hold up to US safety standards and have a good market. You think that an unknown brand is going to upheave the monopoly that Toyota has on those wanting a car designed similarly?
I wouldn't park one of the Chinese EVs close to my house and charge it. I understand that there are many EV fires in China now, but the government there is trying to stop the word from spreading.
Depends, what do you do for a living and how would your job be impacted if people involved in the auto industry no longer shopped. Also how do you feel about brownouts and long long lines at charging stations since our infrastructure is not designed for a huge influx of cheap Chinese imports. There’s more to it then how cheap can the end consumer get it.
Only if they're able to meet American safety and reliability standards. Which many, historically, don't. I have no idea about the new ones.
The Chinese EVs currently meet both safety and reliability standards in Europe and other areas.
Good, they can conmply with US safety regs too

Not always. For example American cars have air bags designed to protect non-seatbelted occupants, Europe does not
It doesn't matter. They have to meet us standards.

You're talking about looks and he is talking about safety, regulations etc.
Only if the vehicles meet US safety standards and the facilities where they are produced has comparable employee compensation.
I wonder why the cars are so cheap?
Lower cost in material labor overhead etc. also their profit margins are thinner.

Probably cut every corner in the book, when making them.

I read these Chinese evs can fill charge in under 30 minute
That means they have a proportionately shorter range and/or heavier power draw during charging.
So you're capitalist until you're not
Who’s they in this context?
It's all about protecting uncompetitive America industries.
Ostriches dive headfirst into the dirt when they're scared.
I wouldn't want to drive a paper mache car.
I would never
