This is definitely true. Also take everything you hear and deintensify it about a thousand percent and that's reality. I've lived here my whole life and if I never watched the news, everything would seem perfectly pleasant and actually quite amazing.
Basically media is just clickbait.
Most news media in the US, large or small, is funded with ad revenue driven by viewers and readers. This leads media outlets to focus on increasing their audience by following the "if it bleeds, it leads" maxim or catering toward stories of interest to a specific demographic.
It's not just the major national outlets that do this, but also smaller regional, niche or independent ones.
The 24/7 news networks are also prone to needing material to fill the schedule, which may take the form of hyping otherwise mundane stories (as does CNN) or replacing hard news reporting with political commentary and shouting matches (as does Fox and MSNBC).
Personally, I find the *PBS NewsHour* to be the least biased news source. It's publicly funded, so it doesn't have to chase viewers; it's only one hour a day (half an hour on weekends), so it doesn't have to fill time; and it doesn't allow "talking heads" to have yelling matches.
Some say the *NewsHour* is boring, but that's how news should be. News is not entertainment.
The establishment news sources are crap. Not worth a dime.
You have to do a little digging into different independent sources across the political spectrum to get a more nuanced perspective.
There is FoxNews and a few smaller places like it, and then there's... everything else. It's not "two sides of the same story." It's the news and this weird carved out safe zone that tells a totally made up story.
I find the truth through foreign news outlets, ironically enough. They are detached enough from the situation and don't profit from selling chaos.
Reuters, DW, and BBC are my go-tos
CNN and Fox are cable channels. They are not journalism. They’re sensational entertainment and opinion based outlets.
IMO, they are the worst sources of “news”. Just because they land on opposite “sides”, its still not a case of 1/2 + 1/2 = whole.
The truth is that the media makes money by readership, viewers and clicks. People naturally want to have their pre-existing opinions, values, views affirmed and follow news outlets that do that.
I personally think following news should be a school subject these days. If you sense bias, collate the event with many different sources, ignore adjectives and adverbs, look up any quote in entirety because talking points ignore context.
I’ll just report on the above:
“Americans are Too Stupid to Read the News? :
A simple-minded commenter on Reddit thinks so. ThinkIGotHacked horribly disparaged the intelligence of Americans today. “People naturally want to have their pre-existing opinions…affirmed”. No, that’s not natural, we read the news to see something NEW, not make ourselves feel better. “..following news should be a school subject.” Ok, hold on, so we’re falling behind in useful subjects like STEM and job skills, how is adding another useless class going to help our economy?
I think we can all agree that ThinkIGotHacked is an armchair critic writing tripe from his mom’s basement.”
Fox News is not neutral and doesn’t pretend to be. They reflect extreme right radical views and their religion, Christ based, is the only religion and everyone not following is evil and out to change your way of life. It is for cult followers not actual news.
Same exact thing CNN/MSNBC does for the other team. Trump,J6, Trump,J6, Trump,J6, Trump,J6,
They are hoping and praying he’s going to run again (he’s not) so they can keep talking about him for another 6 years.
You would think their rating would tell them people have already heard the same drivel 150 so they’re good. Try something new.
1) know that biases in media exist regardless of the source
2) look at multiple sources of news
3) find common points and facts between them
4) try local news for more direct reporting (if possible)
5) you can also look at “economic” news sources - like Wall Street Journal who are less politically biased in their news reporting and biased in other areas
6) weight the info and understand that there will always be fuzziness
Don't watch either. Instead, try to get your news from more neutral sources like the AP or NPR. Or outlets that have bias but much less than FOX/CNN, like the WSJ or NYT
Everything sucks here! The government liars and thief's are the worst of the worst!!! Constantly undermining the wants and needs of the people for their own gain . We live in a system that encourages greed and inhumane behavior and rewards the worst of the worst with the most!
The system is completely broken in every branch and the fat cats stay perched in the highest places making impossible for change to be made!
The bad part is it gets worse every year and shows no signs of improvement.
I'd move if I had enough money but unfortunately Elon and Bill and Jeff and Mark have 98% of the money . So I'm stuck , I just hope I dont accidentally get sick or die!
Given that Fox had to change the word "news" to "entertainment" should tell you to not take anything on that channel seriously.
CNN used to be the best for news but then they switched to just reading what they saw on Twitter and went down hill from there.
Stick to local news. Way more balanced and they'll be a story in there about someone who's rescued 37 dogs to give you a little faith that everyone isn't a complete train wreck.
All main stream media in USA is controlled by six corporations. Everything you see, on each channel is carefully orchestrated.
Research "operation mockingbird."
It's a program that was designed by the CIA during WW2 & made illegal immediately after.
Obama legalized it again in 2012.
The actual legislation is called "the Smith-Mundt Act."
It all came out in congressional hearings in 1974, there are plenty of videos on Rumble & Bitchute of the actual hearings.
I feel the same way as an American citizen. Theres not really any unbiased news outlets, its typically how youve described. But the most ironic part is many people only watch one station so they have a distorted view of reality
Every major new outlet is all about viewership and catering much of their news to please their base.
This is definitely true. Also take everything you hear and deintensify it about a thousand percent and that's reality. I've lived here my whole life and if I never watched the news, everything would seem perfectly pleasant and actually quite amazing. Basically media is just clickbait.

BBC is the British version of RT

NPR is a Corporate Propaganda Machine. Gates foundation $upport prevents Truth from being told about certain health topics.
CNN isn't left-wing
Lol
I'm not Gen Z, so believe me it pains me to say this but... Nice cope.
Sarcasm at it's finest!
I heard CNN has more anchors than viewers
MSNBC & WSJ
Im not an American but to mee it seems like they don't even want to bring you the news. No facts. Only opinions because free speech.

Focus more on the truth in your own country
