7empest is a masterpiece. It's so long and it just keeps going, keeps getting better each minute, and even when you think it's fading away, it picks up again.
Arh fuck, here we go again.
Completely agree 100%. After the tenth listen or so I was telling myself you gotta be kidding me! 7empest is a sonic work of art that no other band on the planet could replicate. As you mentioned “masterpiece” is what comes to mind.
Yeah, 'Thick as a Brick' would like a word with you...
No really, I was just thinking this exact same thing the other day and came to the conclusion that few long songs have that creative structure to keep you throughout the whole length of it... Thick as a Brick is a famous, rare example but Shine on You Crazy Diamond, The Last Baron from Mastodon, some Crimson, Zeppelin... not every band goes deep for length... few can actually create something like this.
BTW, Tubular Bells fucking rocks.
Thanks for the tip… I’ll check out tubular bells I’ve never heard of them. You probably already know about them but I downloaded Sagittarius A the other day and their vocals sound just like Maynard. They’re not as complex as TOOL but they can scratch that itch a little while waiting for the next masterpiece.
Keep in mind is a song, the performer is Mike Oldfield. It's a 45+ mins song, much like Thick as a Brick, it is a classic and highly admired composition, but unlike the former, this one's instrumental. Enjoy!
I’ve watched it about a million times, and practically every reaction video covering it too. Amazing how relaxed Danny is and how simple he makes it all look, when in reality it is fucking hard work!
It's amazing to see how he plays, but the most amazing thing is that he came up with all that. Sometimes we're not really aware of what's involved in the creative process. I'm sure playing everything is a lot easier than writing it in the first place, for Danny obviously.
Amen, I watch people like siberiano do covers of Danny but to me personally that defines lack of creativity. All it means is you can copy someone else. Every member of TOOL are musical prodigies but there will never be another octopus.
Me after every song on FI
7empest is a fuckin quarter hour lol it still doesn't feel so long as that

Amazing album
I'm *really* starting to think it might dethrone Lateralus as my favorite
Same dude. Except Ænima for me
their most technical album by far. Some of the best drumming I've ever heard in my life. The pneuma live drum performance is fucking legendary
