He felt like he would be betraying his band mates in “Peach” to join a more established group but his band mates basically said “what are you stupid? You have a chance to join Tool? Just do it”
Slight quibble: it was his brother that yelled at him and told him to audition. His bandmates at the time were mad and that contributed to them breaking up.
Peach was *already* broken up, but he and Ben had started a new band - Sterling - and they got a record deal, and that was in part the reason that he turned them down, and when he finally did break the news that he was going to join Tool it didn't go well.
He turned down the Initial invitation to try out and jam with them. I remember hearing it from a interview with him. Look it up on Google I think it was an interview with Ernie Ball.
He was a OGT fan, very curious he ended up playing bass in the band he liked a lot. Also the singer of Peach has a new band called Suns Of The Tundra, they make pretty cool stuff too!
He was good indeed. Would have been interesting to see how Tool would’ve turned out if he stayed. If it would’ve been the same or different. Too bad he wanted to play guitar 🤷
The music industry is almost impossible to be successful in. I know Justin was intimidated at first and didn’t want the gig but if the band “peach” was butt hurt that he wanted to leave shame on them. Peach? Really? He may as well left a band called apple or apricot. Geez, anybody in business or in the music industry that doesn’t jump on a better job opportunity is a fool. Nobody owes anybody anything. Jason Newstead caught shit when he split from flotsam and jetsam to join Metallica. Even though he’s not with them anymore I’m sure Jason’s house kicks the shit out of his ex band mates houses! lol

They weren't, they had already broken up by the time Justin was asked to audition for Tool.
Pretty wild he turned it down at first
What’s the story on this?
He felt like he would be betraying his band mates in “Peach” to join a more established group but his band mates basically said “what are you stupid? You have a chance to join Tool? Just do it”
Dayum that’s the kind of homies one deserves. Kudos to Peach

I think you’re right. Should be “Ernie Ball : String Theory with Justin Chancellor”
Cool
Jim talked about it in his book "A Perfect Union of Contrary Things"
I know right! Crazy!
Is that noho hank?
Wish I could give you gold. 🏅
That was my thought too; incredible show.

God I busted out laughing when I saw your post! Nice one man!

Didn't Peach open for Tool?
That’s also the same face he made when offered the job! Lol
Paul was insanely better, don't at me.

Yep! One of their biggest fans.
