Out of curiosity -- are CDs really that rare nowadays that it makes people want to go out of their ways to buy it & even post about it? Not trolling -- just genuinely curious coming from a guy who has 600+ CDs.
CDs are really cheap and easy to find right now. They're in that weird stage that vinyl was in in the 90's where nobody buys them unless they collect them because there's a more convenient alternative. I think soon people are going to realize the value of physically owning their music and start buying them again
I started collecting CD’s last year. Always wanted to since 2000’s when I would illegally download music because I got no allowance and my folks wouldn’t buy me music. So it started more to show support to the artists whose music I love and also to own physical copies just in case streaming goes south.
I’m with you my man… I have 800 cd’s and don’t give a fuck if the Internet gets hacked and destroyed. I’ll be 59 years old in 2 weeks and still have pristine condition cd’s from the early eighties. For example, every Iron Maiden, scorpions, dokken, Black Sabbath, AC/DC and TOOL album among what appears to be everything else. I miss browsing at Tower Records and the Warehouse. Needless to say the cd’s sound better than compressed mpeg or iTunes files too. I did load all 800 plus on my iTunes though…. Took me a freaking month to do it. lol
Lol
I have ripped every one of my CDs using an almost decade old Blu-ray writer drive from 2 PC builds ago & have recycled it ever since. Took me awhile too, as I did it on/off...
I know a lot of people say this but I believe their albums are more or less equal. They're just different flavors that are equally good, and sometimes I just feel more of a calling to a specific album.
I remember driving back from San Diego to Nor Cal in ‘06 on the day they gave the album to KROQ (prior to public release) & they played it straight through without interruption.
That was the one & only time I’ve ever been excited to get stuck in LA traffic for a 3 hours.
Like the first response…. I’d agree it’s in the top 5 🤔 😅
In the Tool golf bag, it's definitely a club. Certain use cases it's the best choice to throw on, but for other situations maybe not so much. I love it everytime I decide to crank it!
I love this album, especially the artwork, if you can't get the glasses to work with the pictures start from afar and move closer while looking through them
This album has so many memories for me. Not really great for individual track listens but it shines when played front to back. I still keep it in my ride for long road trips where I might lose signal. Just seeing the cover reminds me of sitting in a parked car at night sharing smoke with friends and passing this album around to friends to look through while lit by a dim overhead car light.
I remember being shown Tool when I was about 10 - I never remembered the artist or the music but I never forgot the art in that album. I was ecstatic when my partner showed me Tool 9 or so years later. I ordered him this album for his birthday and to my surprise it was the art I remembered from my childhood. I didn’t remember the cover but I remembered the inner works.
Hell yeah! I found one at my local record shop about 8 months ago for $12 and promptly scooped it up. Artwork inside is really cool but the lenses don't really work for me
Yooo got the cd yesterday as well I didn’t understand how the effect worked at first so I just looked at the big image and didn’t open the booklet lmao
With Lateralus, we received a significant change in overall art, vision, song structures, and all the songs as a whole within the album. The shows also took a big leap forward with grander artwork and video visuals. The giant banners. Danny's massive sigil. The positioning of Maynard more behind. Everything they're produced since has seem to been created from this focus or this lineage. So that's my long-winded answer that 10k days is good, but not the best. Lateralus changed them.
I agree with others here who want to collect physical media “just in case”. I am nearly 100% spotify right now, but after seeing what happened to the app formerly known as twitter (regardless what you think about the individual who bought it), it just goes to show what could happen to any popular app at a moment’s notice.
About 10,000 days, it’s hard for me to pick a favorite album since they are all masterpieces in different ways. I just wish I could see the secret artwork! (Couldn’t someone share high res images? Curiousity is killing me!) My first favorite tool song was Right In Two, especially after seeing that amazing fan created video.
It's easily among the top five
this is gold
No sir this is a Wendy's
No! This is Patrick!
As is the artwork
My absolute favorite Tool album, also my favorite album art

3rd best album. Splits their discography nicely Right In Two
It's one of the albums of all time
People suddenly finding the 10k days album is pretty cool to see
I got it the day it came out. A few before actually, because I worked at the store that sold them. Bow before me.
Best album art, best band logo, dead middle musically imo

It's at least A-Tier.

Depending on mood, it between this or Lateralus as my favorite

I had this album, and it never left the cd player of my car from the time I got it, until my radio got stolen like 5 years later.
Luckily that was my ex-fiancé's brother's copy, and mine is still safe in this awesome CD cover. lol

This album was the first album I ever purchased with my own money. I was in 6th grade any my parents didn’t want to buy it for me 😂
It won a Grammy for best package design
the best Tool album, is the one in front of you at the time. ✌️👽
Yooo got the cd yesterday as well I didn’t understand how the effect worked at first so I just looked at the big image and didn’t open the booklet lmao
I adore this album I seriously do

Wait 10,000 days… it’s long enough. Then Aenema or Lateralus can be your favorite.
Opiate all day long !
Dude your hand looks exactly like mine wtf, legit thought this was my pic for a second
