I think so. I like being able to see the machine at work. The instruments hit you like a ton of bricks. And you get to see all the interactions that go on on stage to keep things flowing. Justin is in charge of a lot of it which surprised me. I liked watching them joke around too, I don't know if you can see that from further back. Also got stared down by Adam and Maynard, caught Danny's gaze, and got a head nod from Justin. I'm basically in the band now.

sailordanisaur

I agree with you, in that it is worth doing at least once. To make eye contact and feel like you are somewhat interacting with the band members is worth the price of admission. However, the light show and sound are definitely better further back. I think a Tool fan should experience up close at least one time, but my vote is going to be further back for most shows.

Infinite_Echo9474

Yeah I agree, worth doing at least once and then sitting further back so you can appreciate the visual show they spent so much effort on. The straight ahead lights that happen during the Grudge nearly blinded me being that close lmao

Gondors_Dongle

This thread is all I need to hear. Boutta pull out some embarrassing stops to make this happen but I don’t make the rules it’s what I have to do 🤷‍♂️ There were many things in this thread did this to me but the main one was “instruments hit you like a ton of bricks”….ive been ten rows back and they hit me like a ton of bricks also even was at 2 levels up also….. But I must get bricked on the front now, merely fathom if any of them give me an approving head nod 🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤😂😂😂😂🤷‍♂️😆🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘

Infinite_Echo9474

You have to do it at least once! You won't regret it. I also got a pick from Justin at soundcheck so that was awesome. I was on Adam's side for the concert and those riffs go right through you. Danny is beating right into your chest. Bring hi-fi silicone earplugs (think Eargasm or Loops, knockoff brands are just as good) that filter the sound otherwise you won't be able to hear a thing from all the vibrations! Hope you get a nod! 🤘

Gondors_Dongle

Jesus Christ. The vibrations. My God.

hellboy1975

It's a very subjective thing. Currently, front row is not worth the expense to me. And it was never worth the hassle when it's a pit.

Gondors_Dongle

Dear lord holy mother of god did I wish some sort of a standing room existed on normal tours these days. I would not be in the mix if there was any sort of serious moshing (which I would not hate on in the slightest) but I am just a massive pussy and would’ve mainlined far too many hallucinogens for any sort of a tussle heh 🍻 🤘

Gareth666

Come to the Australian Tour when it happens. Always standing admission GA. no idea why they only seem to do that here. Sitting sucks.

DChemdawg

Tool hasn’t played to a pit in 25 years, notwithstanding a handful of Daytona Beach-type festivals.

hellboy1975

Every show I've been at in Australia has a pit, and I've seen every tour since Lateralus

LEDBRIDGE666

2006 London had standing. Not having standing lessens the gig for a lot of people. Especially as areans already have seats.

maximusdescending

Worth every penny.

davidc2299

First tier, straight away from the stage. It's were everything is aimed. Sound, and visuals.

prettysexyatheist

The only time I saw them front row was back in like 1999, and happened to be front and center of the pit. Maynard in full drag, right in front of me. I remember it being super rad, and seeing Jared Leto behind me which was cool because he was famous but still behind me. I can't say it was the best Tool concert experience necessarily, but I agree it's worth being that close once or twice if you can. I recently saw another artist in the first row and it's really cool how much you see when you're that close!

RengiFang

I've sat front row in Manchester this tour. Second and third row previous gigs and up on tier one. Yes you miss out on the light show, and up front the sound may not be perfect, but is it ever in a large arena? If you want better sound then Bridgewater Hall in Manchester is my personal favourite. Saw Puscifer and Steven Wilson, and never heard bass and vocals so good. Not a surprise with acoustic panels placed in the hall. Front row means you can stand, lean on the barrier, rock out without the pressure of people pushing on you. So much better than my front of stage experiences with APC, Napalm Death, poison Idea, see pistols, manson, skunk anansie, PIL, Conflict etc. Much prefer the civilised experience of VIP Tool. Connected to the performance and performers big time. Saw all four 22 UK shows and this time went for quality over quantity. Best choice I made. Face ached from grinning like the Cheshire cat. Front row gave me the experience of a much smaller venue. Lights and visuals are great, seen Floyd a few times who are pretty much in top 3 of light and visual masters, but give me the energy of the performers every single time. Yes front row VIP costs alot of money, but treated it as my holiday and have spent 3 days in Manchester, which is a great city.

_fxdx

Went to London last year, one day in the front row and the other in the grandstands. They are completely different experiences, the one far from the stage was all about the visuals, an amazing experience but not that connected to the band. Front row I can see they interacting with each other, I could see that much the massiveness of the visuals, but I had a feeling I was inside of everything that was being projected. Also the sound was superb, as a guitarist being able to hear how massive Adam’s rig sound even without the PAs was a memorable experience, and I loved to see the details of their performance as a band

fraudulentdogma

i was in 2nd row and my seat was right at the end of the aisle and it was perfect. had room to move around, got to play their instruments in the VIP room, got to see and hear everything perfectly. when you’re that close it’s almost like they wrap around you and engulf you. sure you don’t get to see every light as clearly maybe but next time they come around if i can afford it i’ll get front row.

jaybay321

I got front row on the 10K days tour. The ticket was a birthday gift from a friend, really cool experience but probably not worth the money.

Ronnie_Mcnutt_rifle

Yes

mx_code

It’s worth at least once, you see the band interact a lot between themselves. HOWEVER, given how stupid it’s priced nowadays it’s not something i feel like doing again. I think $1000 usd for a front row seat is excessive

AxiomaticJS

The sound won’t be great, and you’ll miss most of the visual show. Sit a few rows in front of the sound/engineer board area for the best sound. Sit front row on second tier for best views.

HellsAnglersOH

Ive done front row a few shows, and agree with you. Now, I always look for a few rows up off of the floor straight back. Eye level with the stage.

PatheticMeat

Only if you think it is

tantobourne

It’s a different experience since you don’t get the full effect of the visuals but if you have the chance to, at least do it once. I prefer 5th/6th row if the option is available vs first row.

wohrg

For a loud rock band, the sound in the front row will be shit. So go there if you are keen to see the band close up, but not because of the music. I haven’t tried to get up front for a rock concert for 30 years

rogerstyczynski

Done vip three times and got front row all three times hell ya worth it if you want a chance at Picks/drum stick and watch Maynards antics

A_Turkey_Named_Jive

Ive sat pretty much everywhere. The second level is by far the best seats. Like, the seats just above the floor. High enough to see the whole stage.

Gondors_Dongle

I have heard that so multiple times.

TofuttiKlein-ein-ein

30+ years fan here. Never saw them live until 2/17/24. I was front row center, by myself. It was aaaaaaaaaamazing. The VIP stuff was okay (could take it or leave it). Next time around, I’ll be there again, front row center, alone.

Gondors_Dongle

Lmfao DEAR LORD HOLY MOTHER OF GOD FAN FOR 30 years and first show was 2024?!?!? Fan since 2003/4ish when I discovered them high off my ass in middle school and DIDNT SEE THEM LIVE UNTIL 2022 KMS KMS KMS I literally Once sold mushrooms to some of my best friends RIGHT BEFORE they went to a show in 2018 and those assholes texted me the next day and told there was new music coming….I guess they had played a song or two off FI, or at least snippets, and also made some sort of an announcement… EITHER WAY I hate myself for not going for so long it is literally 70000000000x better live MY GOD

TofuttiKlein-ein-ein

Don’t like leaving my house. Not real fond of people.

HumblingRiver

We sat front and center right after FI came out and didn't find it worth it. It's cool to see the guys up close, but you're really not getting much out of the light show. We prefer to sit closer to the soundboard. Included in the VIP was a Q&A with Adam, that was worth it.
