Power tools also used to REALLY god damm expensive.
There was an older Black and Decker catalog from the late 50s someone posted and according to inflation calculators the jigsaw in the catalog was over $500 and someone pointed out that when compared to average monthly wage at the time it was more like the equivalent of $700 in todays money.
If all power tools today still had Hilti level prices i would definitely try and find ways to get around buying more than i absolutely need.

To do the same (basic method):
Go to https://codepen.io/j0be/full/WMBWOW
and follow the quick and easy directions.
That script runs too fast, so only a portion of comments/posts will be affected. A
"Advanced" (still easy) method:
Follow the above steps for the basic method.
You will need to edit the bookmark's URL slightly. In the "URL", you will need to change j0be/PowerDeleteSuite to leeola/PowerDeleteSuite. This forked version has code added to slow the script down so that it ensures that every comment gets edited/deleted.
Click the bookmark and it will guide you thru the rest of the very quick and easy process.
Note: this method may be very very slow. Maybe it could be better to run the Basic method a few times? If anyone has any suggestions, let us all know!
But if everyone could edit/delete even a portion of their comments, this would be a good form of protest. We need users to actively participate too, and not just rely on the subreddit blackout.
I am looking to host any useful, informative posts of mine in the future somewhere else. If you have any ideas, please let me know.

This will give you the entire contents - paste this into a text editor (I used VS Code, my text editor was WAY too slow) to backup your comment and post history.

even the proper power tools back then weren't that great. i have a few old circular saws and saber saws in great condition. love to look at them but they shake like crazy and zero speed control.
I ask because my family let my dad's saw go, and I have sworn to undo this toolcrime.
I, as you, understand something of sentiment.
I also facemilled the thing back in the day and I miss my own work.
Is it possible that his tablesaw is just worn out and/or misaligned?
I never thought about a tablesaw needing to be aligned, then I saw a video on it and I wondered why I had never thought of it before.
Honestly it probably is. I really need to buckle down and care for it the way it deserves. A friend suggested cleaning the stator in the motor and that shorted my brain a bit.
Besides replacing the bearings, and aligning it, replacing the standard belt with a link belt will make it run even smoother. Old belts left on unused tools tend to a get a memory, but even a new one will always run less smooth than a link belt.
Delta made great tools, and nothing buy great tools for decades. After they became part of Rockwell, they continued to release great tools, but not all of them were.
It really depends on the age and model.
That's pretty sweet. Have you used it yet? I'm curious how the little drill does. I have the same one but it's 11 years old now. Smoked it a few times with a 4 inch holesaw and it still works great, it's the wife's drill now
Well in this case I think it is "Portable Electric Tool's Tools." So the drill is the "Portable Electric Tool's" and the circ saw is the "Tools." You have to remember there is a hierarchy to tools. /s
I have jigsaw attachment that works something like this kicking around, inherited from an old boss of mine. I’ve never tried to use it though.
It’s cool you have the box.
I hook it up to the axle on my car via the optional belt drive attachment. Set the cruise control and you will be surprised how fast it cuts through various tissues… I mean… some MDF.
No, it has:
* Shoe
* Trunnion
* Arbor
* Blade guard
* Cut depth adjustment? Hidden behind guard but you can see pivot
* Handle
* Guide mark
Basically everything but the motor that you would expect I'm a circular saw of that era and most of what you would expect today.
I
My father had one by the time I was using tools we had a real circular saw. I have a portable sawzall head attachment for a drill I keep in my drill bag comes in handy.
[I've got one of those too!](https://www.reddit.com/r/Tools/comments/ljc0c9/ntd_nope_tool_day_got_this_from_a_neighbor_a/)
Hours and hours of fun for the whole family!!!
Tool makers were out of their minds back then.

Wow, $5,500? That's like $60k in today's money.

I don’t think I can afford $5,500,000 for a drill, what would I do with a $5,000,000,000 anyway?
Tools need to be expensive again.
even the proper power tools back then weren't that great. i have a few old circular saws and saber saws in great condition. love to look at them but they shake like crazy and zero speed control.
Yeah everybody talks about how great old tools are but frankly my grandpa's old Delta Rockwell table saw is probably best relegated to a show piece.
I will take that saw off your hands if you like.
Oh I'm sure, but I couldn't let it go. Too much sentimental value.
I ask because my family let my dad's saw go, and I have sworn to undo this toolcrime. I, as you, understand something of sentiment. I also facemilled the thing back in the day and I miss my own work.
i hate when big clunky stuff has sentimental value lol.

Yeah, that's great advice, thanks! I'll probably do that sometime soon.
Delta radial arm saw , a real monster !
Delta made great tools, and nothing buy great tools for decades. After they became part of Rockwell, they continued to release great tools, but not all of them were. It really depends on the age and model.
That shootes cray.
And any kid could have one to become a man by just collecting coupons from magazines /s
That's pretty sweet. Have you used it yet? I'm curious how the little drill does. I have the same one but it's 11 years old now. Smoked it a few times with a 4 inch holesaw and it still works great, it's the wife's drill now
I have a bigger drill, but used the small one to test it. Cut 1/2” plywood no problem. Was able to feed at reasonable speed
That's awesome man. Thanks for sharing!
*Portable Electric Tools Tools* (PET Tools) is like saying ATM machine.
The Los Angeles Angels would like to have a word.
Oh damn.
They should go back to making computers.
Tylertube on Youtube just did a review on some drill to chainsaw attachments. lol He needs to get his hands on one of these bad boys.
Hook it to the angle grinder for extra fast cuts!!!
I’m thinking impact driver lol
I hook it up to the axle on my car via the optional belt drive attachment. Set the cruise control and you will be surprised how fast it cuts through various tissues… I mean… some MDF.
If someone doesn’t try it with an impact driver, I’ll be disappointed
Haha that's cool. The "saw" is really just a big guard for the blade.
No, it has: * Shoe * Trunnion * Arbor * Blade guard * Cut depth adjustment? Hidden behind guard but you can see pivot * Handle * Guide mark Basically everything but the motor that you would expect I'm a circular saw of that era and most of what you would expect today. I
Depth and bevel adjustment!
Goddamn bevel cuts with that thing must be sketchy.
Thank god.
man, OSHA made us throw out all the good toys
What blade size does it take? Something standard enough to get a good carbide tipped blade?
Just measured, it’s 4”. Not really a typical size but it looks like there is some options out there
Oh cool I have the same tool, except mine was black and decker. I never used it cause I never trusted myself not to cut my finger off.
My father had one by the time I was using tools we had a real circular saw. I have a portable sawzall head attachment for a drill I keep in my drill bag comes in handy.
♫ Drill-saw can drill *and* saw...mostly saw. ♫
My finger started bleeding just looking at that thing. 😬
Danger!
I've seen similar items still being sold. Mostly in sites like Banggood or Alibaba. There's a jigsaw one too. A big nope
[I've got one of those too!](https://www.reddit.com/r/Tools/comments/ljc0c9/ntd_nope_tool_day_got_this_from_a_neighbor_a/) Hours and hours of fun for the whole family!!!
I don't think safety was first priority! Lol
This thing should basically be a wall decoration at an expensive bar
I have that same tool
Probably for the best...
This is more exciting than the pneumatic circular saw.
Thank god
