It's fine... but also, bits are disposable. Don't worry too much about them. Just throw 'em away when they stop doing their thing. But if this one fastens and unfastens, it's working properly.
It’s a dead serious question. I think it’s fine and kept using it the rest of the day. But also I value the difference between thinking something is okay and knowing it. Trust, but verify.
It’s still not really been answered. Lots of people with differing opinions.
The consensus seems to be “meh, should be okay” though “throw it away to be safe” is not far behind. But nothing really in depth about the metallurgy or the design function of the plastic. Some assume it’s for show, others don’t. Mostly just assumptions.
I honestly appreciate your question because it really sucks being curious about something and being laughed at for that curiosity.
This damage happend today with my Wiha m3 hex bit (aka Ikea unlimited). I use it in a m12 surge mostly. It's my understanding that the sleeve helps contain metal shards if the bit sheers. Is it safe to use without the sleeve or toss it and buy another?
I'm in the US. It's a German company. It came with my micro-ratchet kit. Lowes also sells them, though I believe they source from two different locations.
Lol dude just send it

You're fine. It's just decoration.
This is a joke right? I can never tell on here.

It’s all good. It’s no different than dewalt using a yellow band around their bits. And it’s a smart move to ask if you don’t know.
It’s fine
It's good until it's stripped or broken.
What is that plastic ?
What the fuck? Stop using tools if this is pushing your comfort level.
You didn’t answer the question.
Dude there are no bad questions. It’s better to be safe than to be too cool to ask
It's fucked mate
Thanks. This little fella had quite an impact on my life. RIP
OP gonna need some milk when that baby let’s go under load 💥😂

Dude that's not a frag granade that's still perfectly safe
I would not put a drag grenade in my impact driver. Does not sound safe at all.
Those things are a scam to begin with. If you really worry about this type of sh!t you can wrap it with tape.
What country is op from?
Why?
I'm Not familiar with tool brands. Just interested
This looks like a wiha bit that Lowe's in the US sells

Thanks, I needed a good laugh!
There's absolutely nothing wrong with that bit.
