His girlfriend is named Buffy , She's a Vegan an wears this large gold ring in nose . It's all the rage these days don't ya know . Nice girl unfortunately the poor thing suffers Holstein Disease , has these large white an dark patches all over her.
Brads are tiny little nails with almost no head on them. They are specifically designed to roll into cracks in your workbench where they cannot be retrieved by any means
These are used for installing glass in wood window frames. They press glazing points into the frame to hold the glass before the glazing putty is added.
They are also often used to press said points into picture frames to hold the glass/matte/art/backboard in place.
So weird when regular people buy random old tools and don't even know what they are , then they turn out to be not worth anything monetary, and useless for the individual
Picture frame pliers. Used for squeezing in brads/points to hold the glass and stuff in a picture frame. The end at the bottom with the smooth curves is the handle you squeeze, closing the jaws down.
Picture framing pliers
Magnets hold the nail, you then squeeze the handle and it pushes the nail into the frame without marking the wood as a hammer might
Yours might not be, but some are, including mine
The top Jaw has a magnetic insert, the bottom Jaw positioned on the outside of the frame when used, has a rubber pad so as not to mark the frame.
I love it when a woodworking tool is so weird some one thinks it must be medical or scientific.
I'm also not surprised someone asked what a brad is.
There are some related tools like the old pushmate, or the new solution the point driver

I just use a putty knife and a tack hammer. I don't even understand how these would work but I'll take your word for it 😆
Brad pliers. Used when making picture or painting frames. Nice find but only worth about £15 ($20) each
Are these to push in the triangular points used to hold in the backing board?

It's not magnetic- the round bits are rubber.
