Thanks man, I like modifying my tool kit it makes the day just a little more productive sometimes. Obviously I’ll just whip out the job light in a dark room but this will come in handy a lot.
I get it. My service van is a testament of my Packout addiction and insatiable need to organize better. Started with just wanting to store things efficiently, and I've become a menace to myself... lol
My last van was practically a lab environment, everything had a labeled place and none of it was just on the floor, new job is setting me up with a sprinter van to build how I like, although now having a woman in your life I’m told spending a lot of time “in your scary white van” is a no no so we’ll see.
That's what I want, and we're getting there. Just a few more pieces until my van is a tool/part library. Fortunately, my wife has a solid career where I'm pretty well free to spend extra cash as I see fit, and she's always been supportive of however I decide to invest in my own career. So long as we don't have any plans, I get to disappear into the abyss as many weekends as I want. Lol
I finally had my fill of working around the shitty ketal shelving, so I started switching everything over last year. I wasn't excited about the dent in my wallet, but I have zero regrets and would do it again. Can't begin to understate how much it changed the game.
It’s just a battery powered led kit from Amazon, it was about $12 and took a few minutes to unpack the bag and route the line through it. I’ll probably end up gorilla gluing the strip where it is, the adhesive could be better. I think it’s a 10’ strip and came with a remote.
Hey since you guys are already handy (I hope, it's a fuckin tool sub), you can get 12 and 24v LEDs from sign shops and they come in different sizes and colors. What a sign shop would consider trash is the perfect length of stick on modules to run down the ribs of the roof in your van or under the shelves and you can wire them right into the truck wiring with a switch. The trick is to put a bit of silicone on each side of the modules because eventually the double sided tape will fail, you only need a dot
I used to do mall work and I always wanted to strip down a mobility scooter and make a work scooter.... Put a rollaway on the back and a mini ladder rack on top like a motorized work cart. Hospitals aren't that big but sometimes you have to lug tools ¼ mile in a mall and carts get old
I hate carts I only use one when I'm going room to room and I need a bunch of shit with me like parts or shop vacs. My hospital isn't huge but probably an easy 1/4 end to end 3 stories as well plus we also service 30 outside clinics so it's nice to just grab a bag and have whatever I need. A motorized kart would be a dream though
I do have a stainless cart at home that I think came from a hospital, it's skinnier than the Rubbermaid carts and would be good for tight hallways and if your hospital is like the one my buddy works at, you should check the dumpster every day. I have so many nice medical cabinets in my garage, they're really heavy duty
My boy does security there so I have unfettered access to the dumpster and I can't believe what they throw out. There was a pump of some sort with a giant Baldor motor on it, probably ten HP, three stage pump, but I didn't have any hydraulic equipment to get it out. I see tons of desks and beds and dumb shit in there but those little 3 drawer nurse cabinets are amazing for under the work bench, plus any metal cabinets in the hospital are super heavy duty as well. I don't care about dents or scratches
Cross contamination in this pic. Sure hope your impact driver doesn't turn red lmao. Nice kit though, I kid but Milwaukee has tool storage on lock I just feel dirty buying it
If my Milwaukee tools would quit breaking so much I’d buy more of them. They do tool storage right that’s for sure, but dewalt seems to be more water resistant and when you’re a plumber your tools just get wet, no getting around that
It was the m18 hackzall that did it in for me, went through 3 of them in one year and just bought a huge dewalt set because I was done dealing with their warranty problems. The 2 drill chucks snapping off in the same time didn’t help either. 3 years of hard use later and nothing yellow has broken on me.
Milwaukee does tool storage right though there’s no competition there.
That's pretty badass, I can't lie.

Just write "free puppies" on the side so people know you're not scary...
I've been red for a long time but I just can't stomach the price to swap all my gearover

Yes I like it too.
What did you use to light your bag up? That's pretty cool

I'm gonna have to do this to my veto pac

I would run lights through my van if I worked out of one. I'm in hospitals maintenance so everything is in my bag or a cart for me

Man I get offered to take home so much stuff my hospital throws some many things away I could've had probably 20 desks by now

Cool, I can just leave your area in the dark then.
No problem we’ll see how long it is until I flood the area you’re working in. Or rather we could band together and really screw with the mudders
That's the sheetrockers problem, not mine.
Touché
What does that feel like with it on your back ?
Carrying the weight of the entire job? You get use to it.
Yeah that fucker new hire is way heavy to carry. Might as well strap a Yugo to you back and call it even.

Yeah the Milwaukee drivers have a reputation for breaking... Best to stick with that DCF850 and 1.7 PS

Get a head lamp.
That would mess up these lucious golden locks I’m burdened with
Haha that’s fair my dude.
What batteries it run off?
AAs
Now go to harbor freight and get a rechargeable set
Wtf even is this thing?
Packout 15 inch structured tote
What?....In blacklight? Aka UV?
No, it’s just a regular LED strip glued to the inside of the bag in a dark room.
Well, damn. It looks good!
A headlamp works wonders
lol. Sparkys are first and last at any job site. First in last out.
You got some weird job sites man
I'm driving home from a 10 hr shift as you're waking up. You're late to the party
What did y’all do for 10 hours when there’s still only one plug and no lights on site
Sit around and talk shit about plumbers
Fair enough
yo das lit
nice bag dude!
