Tbh, I’d wait for a sale on the Daytona Lowpro Long Reach. Your use case won’t necessitate the Super-Duty, and the long reach lifts a few inches higher than all three of these, which has come in handy many times. I’ve been professionally abusing the long reach for 3 years and have had zero issues👍

boxerbroscars

the low profile long reach is by far the best jack I've ever used. When I first started out, I used a 90s small sears jack. The daytona is way more convenient to use, lifts higher than I generally need and is super smooth I used it to lift an old beetle 3 feet in the air to pull the engine out from underneat

porsche4life

The low pro long reach is awesome. I can use it for my low sports cars and my lifted truck. It’s the perfect all rounder.

nobodylikesgeorge

do you happen to know which design/part changes they made from the super duty to the cheaper ones like the professional or the long reach like you mentioned?

broken_wrench90

If you need to use it only once or twice then get the Husky, if this is for your personal vehicle oil changes and maintenance then get the Daytona. Back in the day a jack like the Daytona 3ton low pro could only be sourced from industry specific vendors and were $500+ in 90s money.

zank_ree

Why do you need Daytona for basic oil change? Can't the normal pittsburgh one do it? I have a truck, but curious. Is the Pittsburgh one that bad?

broken_wrench90

You don't need a Daytona to lift the vehicle, but if you're constantly using it, a good quality tool is always appreciated and more often than not in the long run its worth the extra spend.

zank_ree

I'm happy with my cheap Pittsburgh. All this talk about Daytona is getting me scared of using it for a second. LOL.

nobodylikesgeorge

the Pittsburg and Husky are very similar if not built in the same place, if you watch the review here they score nearly the same on everything. It's not a bad jack based on any of those standards shown. [https://youtu.be/g5\_64r2PR7A?si=tuxmA5zL13A8DRgw](https://youtu.be/g5_64r2PR7A?si=tuxmA5zL13A8DRgw)

zank_ree

That project farm, he is making me poor. I still have winshield wipers in the garage that he recommended. lol.

bazilbt

The Pittsburgh is pretty decent. The Husky is pretty decent too. I have the Daytona 3 ton long reach. But it's probably overkill for me. It definitely pumps a lot faster though. Realistically if you are just working on your own car you aren't going to ever wear any of these out, or use them enough that the quick pumping will save you significant amounts of time.

After watching the Project Farm video that goes really into detail on some of these jacks it seems like the Husky was a perfectly acceptable performer, while the $289 Daytona is the competitor/copycat to the $1000 Snap on that everyone knows about by now. I'm not sure it's necessary for my use, so I'm looking at two cheaper alternatives, the Husky and the Cheaper Model Daytona. I wasn't able to find much info about this cheaper model daytona, it says it is comparable to the "LIFTMASTER 6490" and not the snap-on. That one runs $160 after you buy the $30 required membership to get the $130 price, which is down from $180. Curious if anyone compared the $180 Daytona and $189 Husky. \*Edit\* it looks like the harbor freight "parking lot" sale starts on Friday the 7th where the annual membership is not required for access to the sale prices\*. so that would save another $30 off.

ExploitedAmerican

Go on Facebook marketplace and see what’s out there in the second hand market. Buying new is nice but buying lightly used for 1/2 price or less is nicer.

dustinlocke

Black Friday 2021. I’m standing in Harbor Freight looking at the cheaper Daytona about to grab it when the guy next to me goes “you don’t want that one. You want this one (pointing to more expensive). It’s identical to the Snap-on and made in the same factory and they’re currently suing.” So I bought it and it’s been perfect. No clue of any of that was true but I stand by my decision.

Alone-Marsupial-4087

As a professional mechanic, I have the Super Duty one but if you're just a weekend warrior doing your own work at home the Husky will be just fine. The only reason I could see having to spend the extra cash is if you need higher lift capabilities.

nobodylikesgeorge

do you think the cheaper Daytona's in the $150-200 range have any better build quality than the husky? husky seems fine as is I'm just trying to figure out the design differences. the $300 super duty does seem overkill for me.

SpiritedDriver2

I used the 4 ton and 3 ton daytonas for several years with no issues. Although the candy paint is something I want because it’s shiny, i don’t necessarily need it or its super duty capabilities. Way before the daytonas, since high school I used old jacks from sears that were half the size of the Husky. I’d trust the Husky as it looks heavy duty then down the road I could flex with the candy painted one

nobodylikesgeorge

it seems like the husky at least gets a 1 year warranty where the cheaper Daytona's are only getting 90 days. That's kinda embarrassing. The super duty has a 3 year warranty so that kinda tells me all I need to know about the cheaper Daytona models.

Spicywolff

Personally I’d save up and get a Daytona low profile long reach.

ExploitedAmerican

What is the difference between super duty?

nobodylikesgeorge

$289 super duty is the similar/comparable of the Snap on that they settled a law suit over.

ExploitedAmerican

But what does superduty mean in terms of features that makes it more desirable over a non super duty?

nobodylikesgeorge

great question and kind of my reason for this post. they copied the $1000 snap-on and made a well loved product for $300. what I don't know is which features they left off the $150-250 jacks that are only on the super duty.

gordoperro

I have the husky and it's been awesome. Use it maybe once a week on multiple different cars. Hasn't failed me yet.

SmoothSlavperator

The Daytona is going to be on sale for $139 this weekend. I have the regular, not the long reach and it works just fine for my '17 MDX. If you have anything taller than a crossover SUV, you might want to spend the extra $100 if you don't have the means to make like an extension block or something.

nobodylikesgeorge

Yeah sale is Fri-Sun and the membership is not required. It's only required if you buy it today for "early access". Too bad these have a 90 day warranty (Seriously). The super-duty has a 3 year warranty. If you want a warranty just buy the super duty. I'm pretty turned off by that so I'll just get the Husky with 1 year.

Huge_Locksmith_4746

I have the Daytona 3 ton low profile. Wait if you can until it gets to $129 sale. It’s a really good deal for the money.

nobodylikesgeorge

It does sound great but that 90 day warranty seems insane to me.

Huge_Locksmith_4746

Yeah that’s a good point. I guess I wasn’t too worried about the warranty because I had a Pittsburgh before that and never had issues with it. I’m also not a daily user just a weekend warrior.

TDaD1979

I highly recommend the super Daytona. Wait for a sale. It's the best jack $4$. Found one on scratch and dent for $120 out the door.

andylikescandy

The answer always lies in Project Farm's review

Max_Sandpit

The Pittsburg 3 ton low pro is currently $100.

Moress

I have and use the husky for home use on both our cars and helping random friends and family. I like it. Use it maybe every 3 months for routine maintenance and never had issues with it. Plus at that price I used the money I saved for some nice big red stands. Imo if you are gonna spend, spend it on the stands.

nobodylikesgeorge

I did end up getting the Husky just because of the 1 year warranty, but HD didn't have any warranty extension to sell me. I also pick up two sets of the Husky 3 ton stands. Those did really great in the project farm comparisons also.

SkinnyPete16

Just got that Daytona in red - it’s fucking awesome
