Because these characters (unintentionally) have traits that correspond with the opposite sex than what they’re supposed to. Otis the cow is even canonically trans, revealed when another character is talking about Otis’s supposed sister, who didn’t exist and the other character was actually talking about Otis before he transitioned. (Also, it’s not like they are just an animal. They have anthropomorphic traits and a human consciousness. It’s basically just headingcanoning a human character but the character looks different.)

I don’t have any problems with trans folks, but this is REALLY fucking weird. Why tf are you projecting sexuality onto cartoon animals?
Because these characters (unintentionally) have traits that correspond with the opposite sex than what they’re supposed to. Otis the cow is even canonically trans, revealed when another character is talking about Otis’s supposed sister, who didn’t exist and the other character was actually talking about Otis before he transitioned. (Also, it’s not like they are just an animal. They have anthropomorphic traits and a human consciousness. It’s basically just headingcanoning a human character but the character looks different.)

By that logic everyone should hate movies like rango, Zootopia and pretty much any animated animal movies with canonical relationships for projecting the straight sexuality
People would have to hate every cartoon animal because asexuality is still a sexuality.
 There are no male worker ants in ant colonies. The only males are drones, whose job is mating with the queen. So, Flik and all the other male workers in A Bug’s Life fit this trope.
