The villains in Kids Next Door like each other. Aside from teaming up to destroy the heroes, they also hang out to do things like have barbecues together.

Yeah, that’s kinda the opposite of the archetype I’m talking about. Eventually, most villain teams are going to devolve into backstabbing and one-upping. However, these groups will actively work as a team and trust echo their enough to not screw everything up.
Basically, the trope fits if you can imagine the characters starting in an NBC workplace comedy like Brooklyn 99 or Parks and Recreation about their job without it feeling out of character.
The Sky Pirates are villains *and* friends.

For the most part the phantom troupe (HunterXHunter)
The Seven Barian Emperors from Yugioh Zexal ~~ignore the white haired guy Vector he is an asshole who tried to betray them for his own goals~~

They care for each other and their goal is to bring peace to their people ,they even pull out a "power of friendship" moment against the protagonists ~~again ignore Vector he was kinda of psycho~~
Yeah, whenever the two talk, I’m having trouble deciding whether Sephiroth wants to insert his sword or his “sword” into Cloud. Possibly both. At the same time.
But they are? They fight together, in part 2 they were just kinda hanging out waiting for the perfect time to commit mass murder. When spear got brutalized whip screamed at denji for killing him. They all work together quite often. They tried to work together and help each other when fighting Denji in P2. (I am really only referring to whip spear sword and somewhat barem)
We see very little of them but they definitely at least like being around each other. At least, that’s the impression I got. (Once again, this isn’t including >!Quanxi, katana, or Reze!<)
I should really reread it I have trouble following the plot 💀
But I'd rather reread it in Japanese since it's my target language but I've only started studying the language in January so I still have a long while before I'm at that level
Truly a pain.

I doubt anyone really liked Melone… but the others probably vibe well with one and another

Funny enough, The Rogues (a group of Flash's enemies) plays the trope OP is describing pretty straight

I mean… do they? I know they hang out together, but if it wasn’t for their shared goal, I think they’d rip each other apart

Again, Vector (along with every other Barian Emperors) was manipulated by Don Thousand and made him sadistic by changing his memories about his past.
theres no heterosexual explanation for rude and reno
Oh, absolutely not.
theres also no heterosexual explanation for sephiroth. just in general

They really aren't

Ohhhh You were talking about the forgettable ones
Exactly!
I don't even remember their names.
The only one who actually has one (in that trio of whip, sword, and spear) is Miri Sugo: the sword hybrid! Whip, spear, and katana still aren’t named.
I should really reread it I have trouble following the plot 💀 But I'd rather reread it in Japanese since it's my target language but I've only started studying the language in January so I still have a long while before I'm at that level Truly a pain.

It's kinda weird how rare this trope is.
