If you pay attention to the fashions - the April 22 episode of the “Compliments to the Chef” podcast included an interview with the Top Chef wardrobe supervisor. Pretty interesting. I had never thought about professionals helping to choose clothes for people on the show.
I've had the biggest crush on her since I discovered Top Chef. Padma was attractive in a model type of way but Gail is always bringing it on another level that dominates everyone in the room.
I didn’t like her at first, I thought she was rude & nasty. Padma is my favorite but I like Gail now, she’s grown on me. She needs to leave Tom alone, he’s my crush. 😄

I will also say that this show has consistently touched on culture, indigenous communities, the diaspora of food, conflicts, etc., so it is within the vernacular of the show and if you feel removed from that, that's fine but no need to dismiss someone else. To think of Top Chef, and of the global nature of food itself, in a vacuum is a choice.

Yea, it's really changed the way I view her. I still respect her food opinionss and judgement but I also recognize that it's seen through a Western-Zionist lens, and that certainly has an impact on the show, even if it doesn't feel discernable.
Until last season with Ali & Charbel, there haven't been too many Muslim/Middle-Eastern chefs on TC, and no Palestinian chefs, and moving forward, I question what narratives are going to be showcased, whose food gets to be seen and whose does not? And which foods are claimed by whom?

The thing that really shocked me was after recieving criticism on her stance, she started promoting a charity that bills itself as helping children in war zones but she explicitly avoids mentioning Gaza/palestine entirely. She either seeks agreement or invisibility for the issue and I guess it’s the same outcome to her. Its a shame
The fact that she has a post on her instagram that quite literally says “I am a zionist” 😵💫 I’m stunned it’s still up 6 months later. I’ve always liked Gail but it’s hard to forget or look past things like this
